I have done that before. I deleted my main character and gave away all my gold and gear. But about 2 weeks later I regret that I did that so I just simply talked to a GM and told him I got hacked, and woila, my character was back, with all it's gear and gold. Not that I am playing wow now, I quit it (again) 3 weeks after my character was restored.
