You're right in that they voted wrong. That they are all the same is a simplistic explanation. Other possibilities are that some want power and others simply aren't doing their jobs (i.e. not reading the bills they vote for). I'm more than a little sick & tired of the defeatist attitudes running rampant among the masses in this country right now. Had our forefathers & ancestors had the same hopeless mentalities as many do here & now, there would BE no America.
We CAN have leaders that won't screw us. Right now - however - because we've settled for corrupt leaders, candidates & elections for SO many years, our government is severely compromised. So it WILL be a struggle to clean house. It CAN be done.

The better question is when did the US turn into a fascist state. I think it started when the cold war began. Eisenhower warned us of the dangers of the military industrial complex, and the country ignored him. Since then, the military industrialists have co-opted congress and the presidency. As a nation we spend more tax dollars on the military than virtually all other countries combined. If that isn't a recipe for fascism, than what is?
