A nice enough video, I liked the abstract geometric intro best. Not so sure about the song though, it's like the jaded directionlessness of Johnny Hates Jazz half a decade before the fact.
I can "see" why so menee Pakistanis adopted Tin Tin's stripey material in the Video to be "Their New National Flag"! That is unless they got bored with it and went off looking for more victims to sacrifice to their God 'Ash'aitan"
this song is me & my girls song as i remember it as true quality & toltaly a real outstanding record of its time,i bought the album & gave it to her for valentines, she loves it as it is timelesss xx much love everyone
Stephen looks completely bored and in-different throughout the whole video. This is a great song and it deserved a better video than this!!! On a positive note, it does take me back to when I was 17 and innocent!!
OMG ty made my day, loved it then love it now x. in my head (prob) i seem to remember someone telling me he was the singer with duran duran b4 le bon, am i just dreaming that, or can i add it to my geeky knowledge as true
@valeymac You are certainly correct. Duffy was a founder member, playing bass, and as a vocalist. In fact he found some of his early work with DD on a tape, contacted Nick from the band, and they collaborated to re-record it in 2002. It was released under the band name "the Devils" and is called "Dark Circles".
if anyone could find the UK Top of the Pops version of this song and post it I'd be very happy. He had 2 backing singers in black dresses and I fell in love with one of them years ago
I love love love the clothes in this video :) In spite of my averversion to wearing black all the time(Flamenco teacher insists on us wearing Black and doesn't like eighties music but he's great anyway)
Beautiful! Thank you! This was my absolute favourite track from one of my fave albums of all time. I just found The Ups and Downs after over 15 years of hunting high and low for a CD version and listened to it exclusively for the first week after it arrived.
The sound quality on this is amazing and it's so great to see it again after all these years. Thanks so much!
No, I didn't retrack the audio. But THANKS for the WONDERFUL comment! And I agree, this should have been just as big as "Kiss Me". 101% GENIUS Pop. Mwah !
Fine song of 1985,i remember!

One of the most visually striking videos from 1985. And the song is perfection anyway!

I seem to have read somewhere, in the 80's, that it was a close thing between Duffy and LeBon for the Duran Duran frontman. I love this song though.
FindoGask100 6 months ago
@FindoGask100 In actual fact Stephen was the lead singer of Duran Duran before Simon and before they became famous.

For so long this video was not on youtube, i had taped it off Much Music via Satellite and had it on a old VHS tape from back in the day.
I always felt this should have been as big as Kiss Me.
Thanks for posting your Audio Quality is excellent, did u retrack it?
