  • cost per sq ft?

  • Basalt shell buildings cheaper and stronger too. and it won't rust

  • looks like the town may get boring

  • Incredible......

  • why so close together, like chickens in a coup. bok !

    - you could use a pile of dirt or sand for the form, if you didn't have a airform or the power to keep it inflated

  • love it

  • Genius.

  • thx 4 the vote..Actually, ive been researching it at that time..If sometimes u want to build it again wherever, please make sure that u have assessed the needs of the people..The Javanesse people which have a complex culture with their own meanings about symbolyzation of the house is really need to understand..They have their own ideal form of the house with specific widenesess to do the cultural ceremony and also to do many cultural activities..So, its all about cultural and social respect =)

  • @rengganis21

It seems like the needs of the people were looked at, no homes, no shelter and they came in and built homes better then they lived in before. They can still do cultural with this or are you telling me living in cardboard and tin shaks is better for their culture? It was only a means for them to go from, not the ends to the means. I bet in a few years it will look like the slum it was before.

  • @elvieken if u know their house before, u will not telling me this...their house before was wide, big, and also permanent with bricks...their house before not built with cardboard or tin shaks...it looks like that because of the earthquake...they are not living in a house which like a slum...how do u know bout that? Jogja is not a Slum Area...this is a cultural city which their house is clean..Of course they still can do cultural but the space is so limited..so it just about a cultural space...

  • Free housing for all -

    thezeitgeistmovement . in

  • Very interesting. I am a fan of earth houses also, similar characteristics.

  • the negative side from this project is...all of this house, in fact, are not suitable for javanese culture...when day and night is come, the temperature inside is really high..it made the people who live here is really feel uncomfortable...this house is lack of air circulation...and then, their needed of kitchen is not given a 100% from this project...they make their own larger kitchen after few month they live there behind their house because hey need a place to cook with a wod..gas is too exp

  • @rengganis21 that maybe true but at least they have shelter

  • @osnapjack yes...i'm agree...just want to critisize some negative side from this social project...They should seriously do the need asessement before they want to help a community all over the world because it concerning many people needs...outsiders ideas sometimes didn't match with insiders wants otherwise their ideas is to help the insider..will be sad if thay not synchronize it together isn'it? =)

i also thankful to everyone who help them have a shelter again

  • great work!!! I'm going to build a geodesic dome for my family soon.

  • I love this technique of building

  • this is wonderful. I would love to find out more about this. i have researched deltec homes as well. i live in the states but i know we are living in the end times so this could be the way to go.

  • Good Job. Too bad we can't do that here without jumping through hoops.

  • It's nice to see that we are using technology to "Improve" lives and not destroy it.... cheers WANGO!

  • I would reside there these are the way to build. The homes can be insulated using a mix of newspaper and fire retardant. The churches you build are incredible the pastor said he paid for the structure just with energy savings due to it's insulating properties. I want to build one but banks want an example house to base the estimated value forgive me but it is new to the area we have no examples here yet so I wait until I save all the money to build all of the home no bank at all.

  • Search on the internet for Monolithic Dome Institute. They might be able to help you deal with your bank.

  • I have been to the MDI institute ITALY TX and to the AI head quarters Around Boca Rattan Fla. We are 20k from paying off the land had to dump 10k into repairing the trailer after Katrina I hated to put a dime into a looser but no loan for the dome = siding and a new roof and another loan on the crapper how I love having what I have but hate what I got. One day we will have a dome but will buy with cash it seems. We could have bought the place in Italy under 100k but we live here 70769.
