nah, i don't think they had quite got their sound right on Static, they perfected it on Clarity i think. Chase This Light is a little different but theres nothing wrong with that, all of JEWs albums sound quite different i think.

I don't know, they are pretty damn underrated. Sweetness and The Middle could have been enough to get them the popularity you suggest. But they have Hear You Me, Pain, Big Casino, Lucky Denver Mint, Work, and even more songs. They deserve to be more popular, but it makes me smitten to know that I listen to great music that others don't! :D

I actually prefer it that way. I got pissed when Green Day got big again with American Idiot. My junior year in high school, 2003-2004, no one listened to Green Day and I was a massive fan. Then American Idiot came out and everyone and their dog started listening to them. I'm glad Jimmy Eat World still has a small fan base.

Why does it irritate them? The Middle and Sweetness is their signature song. You get mad when people say they love Metallica and only ever heard the black album? i remember my friends convinced me to go see a local band that was playing with jimmy eat world like 10 or 12 years ago, and it was in this small club and there were like 20 people in the crowd and both of them played their hearts out and both went onto bigger things, the local band turned out to be autopilot off, then called cooter.

I personally love the Chase This Light album. They still had those gripping lyrics which made me fall in love with them in the first place. I love Carry You, Firefight, and Dizzy. Out of all the bad albums out there, Chase This Light was a good album. Futures is their best along with Bleed American. I think its not possible for Jimmy Eat World to make my ears hurt.

cheers for putting the whole show up, jimmy eat world just before things started going sour. Clarity was their peak, bleed american showed they could make mainstream music still pretty good, futures showed they could still write killer tracks but mainly filler and it hurts listening to chase this light, not the jimmy eat world i fell in love with

Static and Clarity are their best. Static is different but defines their sound in my opinion. You have to be open minded. I really apprecaite static prevails. Chase this Light is fun and enjoyable but it's not Jimmy Eat World. It's cookie-cutter pop-punk. (Other than gotta be somebody's blues and dizzy, for the most part).
