Some people only like this side-dish when it's fresh.. so the next day is not as good as the first day..but I like it... later too.. so usually I eat this for about 3 ~4 days.. but you can keep over a week if you still like the flavor then..
Thank you so much I was looking for a dish that I could fix that wasn't as salty as Kimchi. It was so easy to make, I use 1/2 radicchio that I had and half cabbage as a substitute. I think I will use the 1 tbsp red pepper wow that was hot and I used honey instead of sugar. My sesame seeds were not toasted so I will toast them next time but it tasted very good thanks. I made my first side dish...lol
hi you are really a great cook. you inspire me to eat healthy & more than that you show us that cooking healthy is not that difficult. i have a question i watch lot of korean dramas in that they show lots & lots of side dishes served in small plates or bowls. do you really serve your family every meal like that in real life. if so what about cleaning dishes 3 times daily. how about if you are working mom. i'm realy curious.can you tell me secret.
@TheSusan11111,I like your questions.yes.we eat several side-dishes for every meal with rice and soup.some side-dishes like kimchi or others..(dried..and seasoned seaweed) will be prepared ahead..you can just take out from refrigerator and serve.. some will be made fresh for each meal..they don't take that long time to make.. you will get many dishes to wash.but it's typical in Korea..^^;;What I do is..give individual big side-dish plates for each person..and you can get food with less dishes.
I love this recipe I have a sensitive stomach so Kimchi taste good and helps my digestion but sometimes I wish I can prepare it the way I like it. Thank you.
thanks for this simple side dish...it's a nice idea as an alternative for kimchi...but can i possibly substitute the sesame oil with other kinds of oil? like olive or canola oil? and how long does it last in the fridge?
You can eat right after you make it.. and after you eat.. if you have left over.. you can keep it in the refrigerator.. you can eat for several days.. my friend thinks.. it's better to eat for the first day..but I like the taste better the next day..hehe thanks
haha.. compare with other really spicy Korean food..this is not that spicy dish..but you can always adjust the amount of seasoning depending on your taste..so..hehe good job :)
Oh~~ I didn't see your message until today. sorry for late reply.. it's not silly question at all..I will not familiar with other country food ingredients.. hehe powder is fine..and flakes has some chunks and seeds... you can see the red pepper flakes in Pizza hut. Thanks :)
This is the BEST!! I suggest everyone to try this~~ it is very VERY VERY yummy!! =P hehe.... the first time i make this, i couldnt stop eating it... it is a very yummy recipe and i hope everyone will try an make this ^^
Yes, you eat this right after you make it.. my friend said..she likes it fresh..but doesn't like it much the next day..but I like it the next day also..hehe.. yep..keep it in the refrigerator. :D Thanks !!!
Oh this looks absolutely delicious! I've always been wanting more things to do with white cabbage, which is regularly inexpensive here in Norway for much parts of the year, so now I know what to make :) Thanks so much for sharing!!
You are ve~~~~~~~ry welcome. ^^ I hope you like the taste too..hehe I want to find more Korean food you can use white cabbage then.. ;) Thanks for comment.. !!!!!
Im not so sure what color it was...i know for sure there was radish in there but it tasted sooooooooooo good...but i'd love to have both recipes if you dont mine :-)
thanks so much for uploading this...its very easy and helpful..i have a question for u tho..i went to this korean restaurant in Omaha, NE and they serve this side dish..i believe its a type of Kimchi, its made of shreded radish and some sesame seeds and it tastes sooo good, sweet as well as salty...do u know what im talking about?? it has no cabbage in it or anything..if you know what im talking about..could u pls tell me the recipe?i cant find it at the asian food market here.
I also have some questions for you. The side dish you asked.. it has vinegar and red pepper powder in it too? What I guess is.. a little red color radish side dish with sweet, sour and spicy flavor... Anyway, I want to make sure what you asked exactly.. so I can find recipe for you.. thanks !!!!
^^ hi, I got it. !!!!! Yes, you gave me a right answer for the name. If you want to try it right now, I can give you a recipe, since I don't know when I can make a video for that. Usually, mu saeng chae has red pepper powder in it.. but I know some Korean restaurants serve white raddish side-dish which is called differently. so I wonder if it was white or had red or orange color ? If I know it, I think I can give you a recipe and make that video someday. Thanks !!!
Thanks. ^^ I wonder if you tried normal Korean kimchi before. The taste of this recipe is not same with kimchi. But it's good as a fresh korean side-dish. I think that red pepper powder is different from paparika.oops ^^:; Now, I wonder if paparika can be used instead of red pepper powder. Yes, the volume became smaller.. magic?? hehe I like your questions. bye~~~
Hi, I just wanted to explain quickly: red pepper powder is made from hot chilis, the small red-oranger chili peppers that are hot and fiery. Paprika however is made from larger bell peppers, which are sweet and mild. Just thought I'd clear that up. I love the videos and recipes, delicious and quick. :)
Hi. Thanks for your question. I'm not sure but..I guess you are asking about normal kimchi which is made of Chinese cabbage, not the cabbage I used for this recipe. As I mentioned, this side dish is not original kimchi, it just can be a substitute for normal kimchi. I'm planing to make a normal kimchi video someday too. Did that answer your question? :)
I guess you never had the cabbage kimchi at the Chinese/Korean restaurants (jjang jjang myung place). I've never been out of California, but the restaurants use the cabbage you used not the Chinese cabbage.
Oh,that's interesting. We have many Korean/Chinese restaurants (jja jang myeon place) in Korea. They give yellow pickled radish, kimchi, and radish kimchi (ggak ddoki)as side dishes for jja jang myeon. Maybe those restaurants in America are a little different. Anyway, now I wonder what the cabbage kimchi is that they serve you. If you are willing to try my recipe someday, please let me know the difference in taste. Thanks for your comment.
Ahhh~ you're in Korea. It makes sense you wouldn't know what I'm talking about. When I was in Korea, I never saw the cabbage kimchi. When my aunt came to visit from Korea, she never had cabbage kimchi either. She couldn't tell me the recipe! :X

I am going to wrap it in lettuce with cucumbers, carrots, and sesame leaves like you recommended.
