@itshansle Since when did they care about understanding the full color of Asian music? You should know by now that westerners only care about their perception of "orientalism" and they usually fail to see the real "Asia" in their eyes. Quite unfortunate, I might agree, but that's how it's been for ages. Nevertheless, I think this was a good attempt and you shouldn't be too harsh on the NY Phil. :)

@ZakuKye aigoo it doesnt matter about the colour of Asia or Korea. Arirang is Korean, just leave it as that. If you start singing it down a city street in Seoul, I betchu people would randomly start singing with you. If you started singing it down a rural country side in korea, i bet there would be people there that would sing along as well. I'm just trying to say, arirang is a wondrous folksong that's been well made into an orchestral piece. I'm Korean and I think it sounds fine to me.

I only mentioned those words simply because I was trying to defend my position using itshansle's own words. I am mostly embarrased how the audience had cheered for his mis-interpretation of the song. If interpreted properly,it is suppoed to touch your heart and bring you into tears. I am so dismayed...
