I'm a horror fan and a broadway fan, but when I first heard about this I didn't know what to think....so finally I looked it up and I have to say, it looks hilarious. Now I want to see it!
This play is awesome. A local college did it and it was possibly the funnest play I've ever been to, sitting in a "splash zone" where the actors would partially integrate us into it, hiding behind us, using us as human props etc.
I saw this show last summer! I got to sit in the splatter zone too! Only thing was they sprayed us with plain water instead of fake blood, which was disappointing, but the show still rocked!
@MyCellPhoneAteYou in fact, if it were explosions that i seek, i wouldnt be an Evil Dead fan, would i? it's just that i absolutely abhor musicals. you get all into the movie or show or whatever, and BAM! they bust out into song! it really detracts from the atmosphere. so i guess my comment had no more point than yours, really...i mean, did you even watch that? if you did maybe u would know where i was coming from lol
@MyCellPhoneAteYou i can pay attention and have a certain disdain for movies w/ 2 many special FX. it's just that horror movies now rely upon A.) fx that are 2 glossy in appearance B.) the "twist" ending that we all see coming because it's criminal how overdone it is, like The Ring and Fear Dot Com were basically the same movie as well as the hordes of others and C.) lack of originality (i.e. the NEW Freddy movie.
yeah...seriously...wtf was that? i LOVE evil dead but it would take a lot for me to sit thru a musical...like maybe some chains and those things that keep your eyes open like in Clockwork Orange...
This is a must see!!! I got to see it in Calgary...but make sure you sit in the splatter zone!!! By the end, I was covered in fake blood....literally dripping!!!!
The Evil Dead trilogy was decent and some musicals are alright but this unholy mess makes me ill. MAY THE ORIGINATOR OF THIS IDEA HAVE HIS FLESH RIPPED FROM HIM/HER BY THE NECRONOMICON EXMORTIS!
Sorry, but you have no idea what you're talking about. I saw this show twice, and it was amazing. If it was still on I'd go see it 10 more times. By far the COOLEST musical in a looooooong time.
And Bruce Campbell explains in Commentary, (found here on youtube) that the original title was the Book of the Dead, but one of thier agents said they should change it to the Evil Dead. At the time, Evil Dead didn't make any sense to them so says Campbell, but they went with it anyway.
I wish so much that people would stop calling them zombies. They are not zombies. They are possessed by the evil demons who have been recalled to active life.
there's 2 types of zombies, the original slow paced retarded zombie, and then the inspired dirrectly from hell and is a sort of demon type of zombie. the term zombie refers 2 the walking dead, which is exactly what they are. they're recalled 2 life, but not active life, they're not alive, cause they're already and once were dead. hence once again the term "walking dead"
Dude, in the first movie, The Evil Dead, the professor on the tape recorder (named Professor Knowby in the sequels) tells that the book of the dead deals with demons. Spiritutal demons. And that they could be recalled to ACTIVE LIFE through the incantations presented in the book. And those who are possessed aren't dead unless they get cut up or the demon's been inside of them for like a long time. The Evil Dead refers to the demoic spirits who were slumbering (dead) but were called back to life.
Lmfao, and? your point? you don't honestly think that evil dead is the first zombie movie ever right? Lol or even the first zombie movie 2 have the type of zombie you're attempting 2 argue about right? Lol obviously not. you know nothing of zombies. I wont be reading your reply, cause you obviously know piss all lol.
I never said The Evil Dead was the first zombie movie or the type I'm arguing about because THEY ARE NOT FREAKING ZOMBIES!!! They are PEOPLE WHO ARE POSSESSED BY DEMONS. And anyway, what the heck did anything I said have to do with arguing about what zombie movie was the first? When I say the first movie, I mean the first of the Evil Dead trilogy. Not the first movie ever about zombies. Reread my post!
ok...i am a huge evil dead fan...huge. And i love most of the spin offs of the franchise(freddy vs jason vs army of darkness comics///marvel zombies vs army of darkness) and i love musicals.....i just dont know how i feel about this. i would probably see it if ever in new york. and i would probably watch it if there were a dvd. but i still dont know how i feel about this. its a very interesting premise i will give them that, but can anyone other than bruce really portay ash?
I saw it last year for my birthday in Toronto. It was SO good. A lot of people have seen it so many times that they sing along. My brother saw it twice XD. The first half is not as gorey as the second half. The second half is win the throw blood in the crowd. So if you ever DO watching somehow, and score tickets to the front row -- make sure you're wearing cheap clothing, that you don't care to get a lil blood on it :P.
I've written a comedy zombie musical with the zombie twins from "Shaun of the Dead". It's 60's music and power ballads, metal and blues. Look up "Zombies of the Revolution" (search). Hopefully we can stage it one day. A certain 1968 movie's a strong influence...this show's done OK.
I saw a local production of it and it was hilarious. I don't know how it compares to this one but I think that the singing was better in the one that I saw.
What the fuck? People spend how much for this stupid shit? Honestly, what the fuck Canadian pop culture is lacking as it is and this is what we have to show for it? What the fuck is wrong with you people, have you got any idea how stupid this is? What the fuck Canada. I cant believe you watch this shit, you guys should be ashamed of yourselves, when i come into office im gonna ban all this shit, take this stupid inmature bullshit down south for the yankees, not Canadian material anymore.
The entire point of ED:tM, was the idea "How can we take the piss even further than we have already?", it's not meant to be anything other than campy fun with blood, guts and a really good Ash impersonator. Lighten the fuck up, just because you're 'grown' up doesn't mean you have to be a a surly fuckwit who looks down on anything that's not 'mature'. Hell, if maturity is anything like you, I might as well kill myself before I hit thirty!
I'm almost 37 years old, and I saw a production of this show in Cleveland, OH, AND I LAUGHED MY ASS OFF!!! Whoever that is obviously needs to lighten up, have some fun in their life, & stop being such a judgemental TW-T!!!!
Sure. Canadian pop culture is so annoying that it spawned shows in New York, Virginia, and California as well as Korea! You are a dumbass sir. You wouldn't know a good show if you sat through it. A lot of people actually enjoy the musical because THEY HAVE A SENSE OF HUMOR! Your comment actually seems to be more immature than the musical itself sir.
it's absolutely worth it. saw this show in Toronto and sat in Splatter. I think my tickets were only like $55 each but it's definitely an experience you wont' forget. Wear a white Evil Dead shirt!
LOL, I saw this a few months ago in splatter-zone seating and got completely drenched in fake blood. It was awesome. The stunt man, at this one slo-mo fight scene, comes out with a supersoaker. It was the coolest moment of my life.
I saw this in 2007, I think September, up there in Toronto when I was visiting. I heard about this musical, and I really wanted to see it! I saw it with my family. I was in the WAY back, and I had such an awesome time watching this performance. It was amazing! I plan on going again sometime!! :D I hope I get to sit in the splatter zone then! :]
Is the musical only showing in Canada? I live in Massachusetts and really want to see this! Can someone tell me if it's coming even remotely close to where I live? Even out-of-state?
I saw this 3 times in TO this summer! It was awesome! I admit I wasn't sure I was all that interested at first but this is one of the best shows I've ever seen!
And no, there's no dvd yet... I'm hoping they filmed one of the Toronto shows for that purpose.
I was a little put off by the idea of an Evil Dead musical, simply because it sounds kinda ridiculous on paper. However, after seeing some of these clips I can say the show looks hilarious, and hugely entertaining. If the stage show with all the restrictions can come off this well, I have no doubt a film version could be accepted as the best comedy-horror film made. My only concern is I really want Evil Dead 4 to become a reality ASAP.
Why are you fighting over youtube? Isn't it a bit pointless and a little on the sad side? Just watch the video clip. (If anyone insults me for saying that is proving that they cant get a life). This Play is great by the way. I just saw it tonight at the Diesel House in Toronto.
