@ricemazter I do want to watch the Japanese version, but haven't gotten hold of it yet, so any upload I did of its intro would just be a repost of someone else's video. I'm not sure it would be that worthwhile considering it's already been posted all over YouTube.

Not really. I think some of its angles and lines are a bit odd, making his lower face look W-shaped. If it was permanent, I think a whole lot of scenes would not have worked as well, or possibly even at all, due to the lack of visible facial expression. For example, when Sari explains the origin of the "smaller organics", her cardboard box Halloween homage to him, and the Career Day short.

Not really. It's often obscured by the super-fast in-scene transforms, but Bumblebee's chest is actually a false roof. Essentially, he's lying face down, with his legs arched backwards over his head like a contortionist.

This is the first cartoon to feature Bumblebee since the original 1984 series.

Note that this Bumblebee, and Transformers: Animated itself, is not connected to the 2007 movie; just some names are the same, but they have been re-using them for years.

really? the 1984 series had a bumble bee in it too? and i know the animated bumble bee is nothing like the movie bumble, for one thing they dont use the same kind of weapons

Yep. Bumblebee as a Transformers character and name dates back to G1. Easiest thing to do is just Google this: Bumblebee G1

They originally wanted Bumblebee to be Hot Shot and Ratchet to be Red Alert, but they switched up the names to capitalize off the popularity of the movie.

"Ratchet" and "Bumblebee" aren't new names. They go back 25 years to the original cast of the G1 cartoon.

So as representatives of their respective character types, they have the benefit of both the 25 years of history from G1, and the recent mindset from the Movie that "Hot Shot" and "Red Alert" don't really hold outside of the Unicron Trilogy.

Red Alert, of course, goes back to G1 as the nervous security director, rather than a medical officer.

They also originally wanted the Sentinel Prime character to be played by Rodimus, but hasbro nixed the idea because they didn't want Rodimus to be associated with such an unlikable personality.

i think the writer wanted to give emphasis on Optimus' evolution in becoming a great leader as depicted in the last two episodes of the series - how he managed to settle a one-on-one with Megatron using the "greatest Autobot weapon", the Magnus hammer (that symbolizes leadership), and how he gave hope to the Autobots in Cybertron through capturing the Decepticons, taking along the presence of Omega Supreme and the All-Spark.
