Cats are very independent animals and they usually don't like other cats. If you want more than one cat you should get them from the same litter and/or when they are all kittens so they don't get too aggressive towards each other. However, two older cats from different litters will eventually work things out between themselves.

My cats are the same way. Sassy (the skinny, old, cranky one--calico) gets really peeved and vicious towards Peachy (the fat, young, loving one--orange tabby) and most times goes out of her way to smack him around. Rascle, Sassy's twin brother, used to be the mitigator, but now that he's gone, she just goes after the poor lover-not-fighter.

What's really funny is she is 2 lbs and he is 20 and he is SCARED to death of her. He justs wants to play, but gets countered by the devil!

Reminds me of my cat, Ebony, from time to time. She growls and hisses at my parents' two cats, Silky and Coal (especially Coal).

Silky has enough sense to respect her space, but Coal gets all in-your-face with her, usually forcing me to intercede and yell at the both of them.
