I got this game for a birthday present. Yes, I was unlucky enough to get this game on a birthday. The graphics would look crappy on MS Paint, the sound is ear-bleeding, the controls are sometimes slightly unresponsive, but, the most insulting thing is that when you finish the game, guess what you get for an ending? Some bland text, and guess what...

THE GAME OVER SCREEN! They're so lazy they can't even design a screen with text saying "THE END"? The programmers should be fired for making this.

This version of MK4 is like a clone of Game Boy's MK3

Same exact code to unlock Smoke (MK3) and Reptile (MK4): 192234

Same exact code to fight Smoke and Reptile: 205205

This is actually better than Game Boy MK3. Shinnok is easy compared to Shao Kahn (who kept doing that damn charge move and because of that, I got little to no hits on him)

MK1 for Game Boy (though slower and it's a pain in the ass to do special moves) is better than this

Overall, MK II is the best of the Game Boy games

What do the people expected at that time? It was obvious that the portable systems at that time were insufficient to host a fighting game in a proper way. This shitty game is a clear example of how publishers want to make money out of a popular franchise, without considering the limitations of the systems or the commercial risk that implies.

In retrospect, the GBC was a cesspool of awful games. A library of games with awful, broken gameplay, that tried too hard to capitalize on graphics, which ended up looking fugly anyway.
