  • @ showmethecurry, Hi Ladies wonderful yes it is Sambar, indeed, I was in Sahpoor Nagar visiting our orphanage and school and they feed it to the children in the school, but it was a busy time and with the languge barrier it was hard to engage with the cook. But yes also would love how to make roti bread. thank you ladies, Namestai,

  • Lady's please show me how to make traditional Samba from Hyderabad, please pretty please,

  • @noelpattern : We think you mean "Sambar" and not "Samba", rt? If so, your wish has been granted ;)

We do have a recipe for Sambar- please search for it on our website or on our YouTube channel.

  • That's the stew that Bear Grylss hate

  • Another way to cook them is shred them like cabbage and stir fry with usual tadka. You can added green peas or a little soaked mung dal and sambar powder and may be a sprinkling of coconut. Yet another way is to simply stir fry shredded brussels and added stirfried daal masala. Daal to be soaked and blended before stirfry in oil with chillie powder asafoetida ....

  • you both are grt! thanks for new veggie.. shud try now.... keep them coming!

  • I like the spatula you are using. May I ask where did you get it from? I will get one for myself. :)

  • Looks like a good recipe. I'm only interested in vegetarian recipes to include more vegetables in my diet. I have no intentions of ever becoming a vegetarian but I want to eat more vegetable dishes.

  • gettin' technical here, but the proper spelling has an "s" at the end of brussels, so it's "brussels sprouts."

nice dish! and i love 'em!!

  • @dnycguy9 : You are so right! Thanks for the correction :)

  • Amazing. How did you think to try Brussels Sprouts in a curry dish?

  • Tried it today...loved it. Very nice south Indian flavour. Thanks for this amazing recipe.

  • hi can we make it like stuffed brinjal curry?

  • @rakshita24

Though we have not tried it, we suppose you could. It may take additional time to stuff them. We find it easier and faster just to cut them.

  • Till date I could not figure out how to make a brussel sprout,I usually put them in salads, this recipe sounds interesting,I will try it,thanks for uploading :)

  • is tamarind paste same as Imli chutney that we usually make ? If not what else can be substituted in its place ?

  • @aarti4628

Tamarind is imli in it's pure form. The chutney has other things added to it. You can find it at any Indian or Asian grocery store. Otherwise, you can sub lemon/lime juice.

  • @ShowMeTheCurry Thanks for replying :) I am trying this today.

  • these are some videos ladies! thank you

  • great recipe! i cooked with this recipe the other day and my wife loved it! I am gonna try again :)

  • Can we use tomato puree instead on tomato sauce ?

  • Tomato puree is a little watery compared to sauce, but it is ok to substitute it.

  • brussel Sprouts are big in england but kids dnt like them... i dnt like them lol. we only have it steamed with gravey over here so maybe the way you guys cook it , maybe it will taste much better lol .

omg that word Anuja called the frying pan .... thats what my dad calls it lol. i never though it was an actual word lol. guess Anuja cleared that up for me lol :)

  • thanks......excellent recipe.

    raj from new york

  • This dish looks very good - but I would like to know if there are any substiutes for some of the ingredients - I live in a very small town and many of the spices I can't find.

  • Which spices were you thinking of substituting?

  • The spices I would like to know that can be substituted is - Urad Daal, Asafoetida, Sambar Powder and Tamarind Paste.

  • That's pretty much the entire flavor of the dish :).

You can skip the urad daal and the asafoetida...there are no real substitutes. Tamarind paste is sour so you can use lemon/lime juice. If you can get your hands on red chili powder, cumin powder, coriander powder and turmeric, you can try those instead of the sambhar powder. Good luck!

  • Thank you for responding and yes I can figure that...But I live in Mississippi and there really aren't too many stores that carry spices that are truly "exotic". But at least the other ingredients I can get my hands on and I can't wait to try the dish

  • If you try with goat meat . It is very delicious . Put two medium onions ginger garlic salt chillies oil and water in one pound meat .Cook until meat becomes tender Put one forth cup of water just for very little gray cook for five minutes . cut slices of one pound Brussels sprouts . DO NOT PUT WATER and cook sprouts until tender . Very tasty . eat with roti. AFTER PUTTING SPROUTS DO NOT ADD WATER . that is the key .

  • Thanks for sharing your recipe. It sounds great!

  • Thanks for your reply . I belong from Pakistan and reside in U.S.A . Our Pakistani community love your show . Can you please show us .How to make khausay ( Gujrati dish ) and petha ka halwa . My daughter she just got married . Here girls like your reciepes . The way you tell is very simple and easy.

  • I am having a warm childhood memory moment. My Grampa always grew brussel sprouts in his garden. Always had FRESH ones. (Yum!) If you grow them, they are always best after the 1st frost. So long as it is a light frost. That was the point of them historically a good veg for the late fall.

  • Great info, thanks for sharing!

  • Where do you get the spices you mentioned in your video?

  • You can find the spices at your local Indian grocery store.

  • I love Brussels sprouts, this looks like a nice way to cook them.

  • I always disliked Brussels sprouts as they are too bitter for my taste. However, recently I learned they are a very healthy food so I think I will try this recipe. Thanks for sharing.

    BTW what is sambar powder?

  • anuja is sooooooooo different! she acts way too american :-((

  • What is acting American mean??? I am American and I don't act like every American. This is just a cooking segment...they both are professonial and have great recipes. Isn't this the states anyway?

  • Looks absolutely fantastic!!

  • Hetal's so hot.

  • mmhh!!fine looks!!

  • It is such an interesting perspective calling Brussels sprouts foreign looking. But indeed it is one of the few domesticated plants (wild cabbage) which actually originated in Europe. Since I was a child I always had rosted duck and Brussels sprouts as my birthday meal. We first boil it (the Brussels sprouts) and then fry it with butter, salt, pepper and nutmeg into a mushy consistency. I know it might not sound fancy but the taste could not be better. Thanks for making me think.

  • the microphones help alot...

  • When I came to USA in 1969, after couple years later I used to cook Brussel sprouts, as substitute to Tindora Subzi.

Nowadays, I cooked as stir-fried vegetable with shallot and mashroom.

  • We would love to get our hands on your recipe...pl. share:)

  • how old are you??

  • why?

But if you like to know I am 64 and a lady.

  • then you must be cute. :)

  • do u guys have a tip on how to store the rest of the tamato paste that came in a can. i use to just stick them in fridge like tht but they dry off and few times i even droped them making a huge mess.

  • Use a little freezer zipper bag and freeze till you are ready to use and the key is to remember to use it (write with a marker what it is).

  • hi, you can pour the paste into an airtight plastic container and then refridgerate it afterwards.also it is important not to leave the food in the tin cans after opening, as a chemical process starts to release toxic gasses wich could be very harmfull.

  • Hi Anuja,,,,,I find taht you are feeling very low.....Whys that....

  • yes, i also find anuja not herself these days, she looks a bit melancholy compared to her other video's

  • thnz a lot for introducing new veges to us!ur experiment is so helpfull for us those who hasitate to touch american veges as u said truely we dont knw how to cook it!pls in future show us smother veges also!
