As to the central question:
I don't think there's much to worry about atheism becoming a religion.
But a minor annoyance for me is the "A" symbol that's come into fashion. If we start wearing our "A" like a cross or a crescent or virgin Mary or other religious icon, then we are begging the religious to scoff at us for being just like them.

@PhranqueGallo I do not think that man is the greats thing to ever exist in all space and time. We atheists simply dont believe in god that's all atheism is a disbelief. I am sure there are ego tripping atheists out there but the same could be said for any group of people. All religions do not require belief. Religion comes in only two forms. Faith-based religion and non-faith based religion. Atheism is better described as the best non-faith based religion ever created by human kind! It still gets to be protected as a religion under first amendment law in the U. S. A.. Otherwise atheists forgo their rights. Tax exemption is one of them. Think about it!
