gosh i wish i could do this but i can not use a mouse and do it. its just to hard for me with a mouse cause i cant get it to do exactly like i want it to and i dont have a tablet yet soo :/ but this looks great :)
How does your pen apply pressure? I try messing around with the pen settings on SAI but can't find a way to make the strokes like yours. Can you please tell me? =/
It depends on the model and if you buy from a store or from an auction site. It's always best to use a Wacom tablet. So I'd suggest you do a little research.
YOU DON'T NEED A TABLET TO MAKE BEAUTIFUL ART. I USE MOUSE AND I CAN'T BUY A TABLET BECAUSE IT'S EXPENSIVE. BUT PRACTICE AND PRACTICE YOU WILL BECOME AN ARTIST USING JUST A MOUSE!
Drawing with a mouse is perfectly fine. That's how most people start with digital art. I drew with one for over a year before getting my first tablet. I still don't mind to draw with one. It's just more time consuming and there is no pressure sensitivity.
Uh, one way to make such smooth movements is with this option called the stabilizer. It slows down your movements and makes lines straighter. (SAI is just awesome like that, allowing an easier time for line art.)
But I don't know what level you set it to, or if you set it to stablize at all. I'm still a beginner at computer drawing.. But keep up the good work :D
I use a Wacom Intuos3 4x5 tablet. My pen setting is the smallest size with min size set to 0. I don't have any real special settings or anything. Sai is just an awesome program.
I think it would take well over an hour for me to make something presentable as well. lol Even then there is still a huge possibility of errors all over the place. So I don't think you should fret about it and just enjoy the drawing process. The more time you spend worrying the worse your art will look to you.
@Nicole1725 I have the same problem. Only that I have min. size set to 0 by default. And I still get circle-ended strokes. :/ It is just as If it ignored the pressure...

hi ive just recently been bought a digital media tablet and i want to get started on using it but im lacking program that is good to use. could you pm me a link with info about the program u use in this video? with stuff like if it costs or whatever. thank you so much. and happy new year, i hope you had a great christmas
I'm using a Wacom Intuos3 tablet in this video. I could draw with a mouse, but I prefer to do it in MS Paint or Oekaki. Sai just doesn't feel right when I use the mouse in it.
@dinobublz They're using tablets to draw, this could never be done with a mouse with pointed strokes. Tablets have pens, and the tablet you draw on itself has a pen pressure thing inside it, to weather how thick or thin the line will turn out to be.
@dinobublz Tablets also cost maybe around $100-$200, I got mine for $90 at Walmart brand new, although it isn't a Wacom Bamboo Tablet, said to be the best, I have a Tooya Pro, which is also very nice and useful. All tablet brands are great.

@Deidarafreak14 Never give up ^^ I started practice in 4th grade and my pictures were sooo terrible. But after some time of studying, I got better. I don't wanna say that my pictures are as amazing as the masterpieces you can find here, but after some time you will see results. ^__^
I do quick lines I suppose. It's easier than trying to draw them slow and having little wiggly bits.
if your asking about the pen setting it's at it's smallest size with min size set to 0. I think I have smoothing set to default as well. You can always put that up higher though if you want.
@Nicole1725 i tried my best following your instructions but still i cannot get that...um...*sketch look* ..how can i put it ..like thinner faded line at the edges of, if u understand wat m trying to tell ya =D lol
Anyways, you need tablet pen pressure. As long as min size is set to 0 the end of your line will be pointed. I'm using the smallest size of line that is why it looks faded. It's because I'm not putting much pressure at the end of my lines.
Wacom Intuos 3 4x5. You don't have to get an Intuos. You could always buy a Bamboo they are much cheaper. As long as you get a Wacom tablet you're going to have a good quality product that should last you years.

I've never heard of Manga Debut, but if it is anything like Manga Studio then I can completely understand. That program was like death to me. D: I didn't understand anything at all. lol
I do like Sai a lot. It's a great program for drawing/sketching. It's smoother than Photoshop and has easy flip and rotate canvas options. I'd say it is one of the most straightforward art programs. It's not really complicated at all.

na There is hardly anything sophisticated about my art. I can't even draw a proper circle. lol Just looking at the videos on the side panel makes me cry with envy. ;_;
@Nicole1725 Really? Because this picture was amazing!!!! Yeah, the art under the suggestions is really good, but you don't notice that yours is awesome too!!! Plus if other people didn't like your art, they wouldn't have subscribed!!! :D And i'm guessing the reason the circle was an oval was because the girl had her head tilted to the side! btw practice makes professional!!!
It depends. I guess usually it's pretty random. I like even numbers for the most part, but if the canvas is too big for my sketch I'll crop it in the end. So I'd say usually under 1000x1000 pixels. Stuff like 400x400, 500x500, or combinations like 600x800.
You're just not use to seeing a small drawing up close. Things look fine when you view them at actual size. You can complain about my work being small, but do not complain about line quality being bad.
I have my Pen set to that as well, but I can't seem to get that light stroke like you do even if I don't push down hard (and sometimes it doesn't draw).
What's your Pen Pressure set to? Because of my Tablet Update I lost those settings for some reason for my Wacom Bamboo Tablet.

Yours looks much more sophisticated than mine.... (was trying to draw along :D)

@CaribbeanStreak
na There is hardly anything sophisticated about my art. I can't even draw a proper circle. lol Just looking at the videos on the side panel makes me cry with envy. ;_;
Nicole1725 4 months ago
@Nicole1725 Really? Because this picture was amazing!!!! Yeah, the art under the suggestions is really good, but you don't notice that yours is awesome too!!! Plus if other people didn't like your art, they wouldn't have subscribed!!! :D And i'm guessing the reason the circle was an oval was because the girl had her head tilted to the side! btw practice makes professional!!!

What canvas size do you usually work with? ^__^
HayyelObsession 4 months ago
@HayyelObsession
It depends. I guess usually it's pretty random. I like even numbers for the most part, but if the canvas is too big for my sketch I'll crop it in the end. So I'd say usually under 1000x1000 pixels. Stuff like 400x400, 500x500, or combinations like 600x800.

@Nicole1725 woow im stupid lol sorry

I see the line quality is pretty low, pump up your canvas size to 5000x5000 and you will get better quality.

@mrapple1000
You're just not use to seeing a small drawing up close. Things look fine when you view them at actual size. You can complain about my work being small, but do not complain about line quality being bad.
Nicole1725 4 months ago
@Nicole1725 Didn't mean to complain, I was trying to help. >.>
mrapple1000 4 months ago
@mrapple1000
It's fine don't worry about it. I just get annoyed when people seem to associate size with line quality.
I work small, but the lines look fine. It only looks bad up close to people who are not use to it.

@SymphoniaKarin
I lowered the layer opacity. It's a gray slider above the layers in Sai.

I really need a Tablet... But if i buy it from here on my country... i spent in the cheapest one something like this: $300~$400
I hate Brazil in those hours :S

@Tr3s3ntos
If you know someone in another country, you can have them buy one for you and ship it to you. It might be a lot cheaper this way.

VirusChris 4 months ago
How get you get those light strokes with the Pen? I can't seem to get it with SAI and my Tablet.
VirusChris 5 months ago
@VirusChris
The pen is at the smallest size. I have min size set to 0. I don't push down too hard when drawing. It's better to do quick light lines.

Do you have to buy a separate tool for this or can you just buy another software where you can use a mouse?
TheVanillaCows 5 months ago
@TheVanillaCows
It's better to just buy a tablet if you want to do art on the computer.

You can get a small one for under $100. Just make sure that you buy a Wacom. I wouldn't trust any other company.
