  • Sieg heil, USA (ironic mode)

  • We were not taught this in the American schools I attended (Southern Califormia in the 60s and 70s). They said we "annexed" the Phillipines. The word "annexed" got quite a work- out in American history books. It covered up what we did overseas.

I did not know the extent of the invasion/genocide in the Phillipines until seeing this video.

Thank you so much for showing this.

  • It's sad to see the history of the Philippines. U.S. made there a great human and linguistic genocide. They wiped out 10 percent of the population of Philippines in that war and the Spanish language (for 400 years was talked in Philippines). United States destroyed in forty years the use of Spanish and the Filipino genocide will cost lives to 1,000,000 Filipinos As an example we can see in 3:01 compliance with the order of U.S. General Smith: kill children over 10 years.

  • Que tristeza....... :(

  • from 1899 to 1940..i wonder what happened to the Philippines. it WAS an AMERICAN Colony..yet we dont much about the things that happened..allwe know is that america took over p.i sold by spain..then japan invaded in 1941..what ahppened before than over 40 yrs of us colonization?

  • In my antique book collection, I own the Harper's History of the war in the Philippines, which is the definitive historical document for the Philippine-American war. According to Harper's weekly, the estimated Filipinos killed during this one encounter is 10,000 Filipinos. A total tally of Filipino war dead for the whole war was in and around 130,000+ That's roughly 10% of the Philippine population in and around the turn of the century. If that is not genocide... What is?

  • My reply to @petercparsons, It is not tame and it is genocide when a general orders to "kill everyone over the age of ten" and make the island "a howling wilderness" in response to a killing of a single american soldier (General Jacob Smith). He almost wiped out the province of Samar.

  • It is a pity that the victor has written history and this is almost not at all taught in high school. What a travesty of truth and justice.

Que pena y que triste. Gracias por el video

  • It's a bit far fetched to call it a genocide. I note there is no mention of the mass killing of US troops on occasion. And what the Filipinos did to the Spanish troops after the Spaniards surrendered--well, it makes the Japanese treatment of the Jilipinos seem tame. It is interesting to note that the only people to rise spontaneously in defense of the USA during WWII in the Pacific were the Filipinos.

  • @petercparsons Its interesting that you mention a maltreatment of Spanish Troops, may I know the basis of this statement. Am a student of history and will be glad to look into these documents.

  • Was necessary a the bath of blood of a bit more than one million patriots of Philippines, in the main Hispanics (who were speaking Spanish), and that fought ferociously against the North American invaders from 1898 to 1910, in order that United States could wave your flag in this nation, but the victory was useless, since in less than 50 years Philippines I reach your independence.

  • Very good. Thank you for bravely paying tribute to them - I look forward to see the day the USA acknowledges and offer a formal apology to the Philippines - It will happen ... keep it up so that the world will be finally enlightened what really happened.
