As for having to take your phone to sprint or cricket to update it ...then I am guessing that you really don't know as much as you say..are the videos you post even yours? flash is supported and i would love to see where you are getting the info on the discontinuation about the Zio i think your making up things again

Ok people.if your phone does not play youtube..you need to go into the store and get your cricketwireless account refreshed,its not the phone! as far as an update. Yes there will be one in FEB 2011. This is all a fact,i work for cricket and im not just saying b/s. the only this is that the phone is not so great for texting,the keyboard is smaller (since the screen is smaller) but you would just need to get use to it,camera is great! resolution is great! no contract is great! haha u cant go wrong

Got the Zio from Sprint yesterday. Brought it back and cancelled the upgrade today. Terrible touchscreen, web, GPS. Far, far slower with web or touch commands than my 2 year old Samsung Instinct.

I have taken my phone all over the country and now with crickets nationwide coverage I continually have signal in places where people with att, t-mobile, and sprint have dropped calls and lost signal. I have yet to lose signal and i have been all over. LOL never over paying service ever again.

Kyocera said that although the Zio launched with Android 1.6 carriers can easily upgrade units to Android 2.x.

So getting 2.1 on a Zio can be done for free on any of the Android fan sites if a carrier does not provide the update.

What's important is to note that the phone WILL RUN Android 2.1 (and maybe even 2.2?).

Cricket prepaid sells the Zio for $250.

WARNING: Cricket 3G broadband is not in many locations, so check that out in your area before thinking about this 3G phone.

As a T-Mobile Vibrant and HD2 user, have to say that this prepaid phone (it's offered now by Cricket) is quite nice, considering prepaid's stigma of always having low-end phones.

This is quite impressive in that it has a large display, trackball, Android and decent graphics. Finally, prepaid users have the choice of getting a decent smartphone.

@riverajm2 ... CNET did a preview and video introduction (Google it). The CNET Senior Editor specifically said that the Zio was upgradable to "2.0" and other versions of Android.

Does that mean FroYo 2.2, I dunno. But to me if this works with 2.1 that's good enough for a prepaid phone.
