    STACEY GOLDBERG HALE 1-18-2012

  • What I have learned about life, its not about the performance, but about the heart, like it is not about the letter of the law, but the spirit of the law!

  • i love everyones sunglasses~!!!!!!

  • I was at Golden Gate Park that day, saw this performance and was blown away. Yes, Bill brought us lots of great music! Thanks so much for posting this.

  • I LOVE YOUTUBE!

  • If you got this music, you`re young ! Bless you

  • Should have been born in the 50's.....

  • eddy67**

My bad- -true enuff- - Bruce Berry and Danny Whiten- Niels friends are who you must be speaking of Neil as you correctly point out- - didnt go there- - thanx, I guess I was typing faster than my mind was goin- old age does that

  • Icons of my generation

Two of the most talented dope fiends ever

  • @terripin99 neil was never a dope fiend, two of his best friends died from heroin

  • @eddy67 I agree with you. But that's not to say that Neal never fired up a joint.

  • Michael Jackson @2:22

  • I believe this was the Bill Graham memorial concert which would date this to 1991.

  • @slk431 The cloths of the audience gives that away, too. =)

  • cheeky577, you don't get it........

  • im 20 and will stay forever young RIP Jerry

  • Its a nice jam but the audience seems kind of depressed or something. Garcia got lost a few times and went out of key, as did the band LOL. Jerry seems a bit out of it. Don't get me wrong I like the Dead and Neil too and have seen both many times, but in all honesty sometimes they seem to get by on their 'brand name' rather than on their talent. Sorry, just being honest.

  • @cheeky577 your a bit out of it!!!

  • Wow - a trifecta! Neil Young and Jerry playing a Dylan song! Happy Birthday Bob Dylan and thanks for all the great music over the years! Jerry is smiling from above for sure! :)

  • Thanks for this wonderful gift of song to me on my 70th Birthday Shannon Cinnamon Cowgirl on my 70th Birthday

  • THIS - VIDEO - would hve been - RIGHT ON! In "MY WORLD" - it kept "CUTTING OUT"

SO - I - am going back to the "ORIGINAL" - JOAN BAEZ - PEACE OUT - Love you Brother!!!!

  • Awesome!

  • This was performed at the public memorial service for Bill Graham, the peerless concert empresario, who had just lost his life in a helicopter crash. Other artists performing included John Fogarty, Carlos Santana, CSNY, and a host of others. Approximately 500K attended, myself among them.

Those of us fortunate enough to literally grow up in the Fillmore, Winterland, Frost Amphitheater, Berkeley Community Theater, the Greek Theater - and scores of other venues were truly blessed. Thanks, Bill...

  • @3dtrix Yes, so many good times and never having to stray to far from the backyard!

  • darn i was hoping that jerry would sing sum lead

  • Thank you very much for posting this clip. It's a wonderful cover of "Forever Young."

  • That was beautiful,a great version, thank you for posting.

  • I miss this music :( It will never come back :..(

  • @Philadelphia90 it never left.

  • @castlecait right you are - it has never left !!

  • もしディランなら

    「フォーエバーニールヤング」と歌うだろう。

    とんちをきかして。

  • John Fogerty played with them at this show also,I have this show on cd

  • The days of old, man I miss the days of summer on tour, traveling, meeting new and old friends and experiencing this country from a view that is seldom seen anymore. This country lost a step the day that Jerry died. I was lucky to able to see Jerry and the Grateful Dead, JGB and Bret Midland...

  • Hard to watch w/o tearing up. Beautiful song. God I miss Jerry. Oh for when I was young.

  • I sooo miss the good ol days!!!

  • la honda /woodside,ca...favorite son

  • Thanks Neil. This was touching.

  • Saw Jerry in Seattle in July '95.... right before he piloted the ship to further destinations. An honor, indeed.

  • I remember this like it was yesterday. so moving.

  • Is this not the Bill Graham tribute after he passed?

  • @stacys1069 indeed!!

    It was the first encore...

such a moving tribute to a bay area legend.

  • Happy Birthday Neil

    May you stay forever

  • neil young and the grateful dead covering bob dylan? i cant think of anything better than that.

  • Farmer John, I'm saving this, but I think you should mention the songwriter in your notes above, Audra Mae. She also did the song 'Who I was born to Be" for Susan Boyle" I found your great video by following the thread. Off to check out your other video. Thanks, this is awsome.

  • @lisa8220 im not gonna lie if i knew when you lived i would come to your house and deliver a handwritten twenty page essay describing exactly why your a dumbass, where do you gather the information that audra mae wrote this song? her COVER is barely years old and she cant be o;lder than thirty its people like you that are going to be the downfall of the human race

  • @doggybizzle Sorry, have Multiple schlerosis, and new to computer, difficult to read when sun is low in sky. Truely, I am not a misdirector of attributions. I love the song, and I love the stuff Audra Mae is coming up with. I doubt any one is going to quote me on my early experiences online.

  • @doggybizzle Go easy mate. What Goes Around Comes Around. Elizabeth5830.

  • nice video, great band ....

  • keep up the good work ,loved your video more on the way?

  • this is such an awesome cover!!! i LOVE dylan... first heard this song on the show parenthood- the soundtrack rocks!

  • WOW. Amazing footage. Thank You

  • This song has been played by many performers and each rendition is beautiful in it's own right. However, this on makes me cry! Love it. Love Neil Young. Love The Dead. LOVE Dylan! What a soul that man has.

  • good stuff and so sick to see other great's doing dylans work !!!

  • I'm 61 now, but I think I did stay forever young...

  • @ucsteve - i'm 61 too and i know my spirit will always remain young

  • @ucsteve I know just how you feel. I'm 61 pushing 62 and Neil Young and the old rock and roll keeps me Forever young,. Dylan, The Byrds, Buffalo Springfield, Crosby Stills Nash and Young and Crazy Horse. These individuals and band members music is timeless. What has happened to music? There is still some good stuff out there, but nothing compares to this. Someone once referred to me as a 'child of the sixties' Personally, I find that a good thing

  • One of my favorite Dylan songs done as they do......great,The Greatful Dead...

  • I don't know how Dylan does it it's pure genius. Great cover too.

  • what year is this? where is it?

  • @ivanbaik23 The Bill Graham Tribute 11/3/91, Golden Gate Park Polo Fields, San Francisco, CA.

  • Please know where to find this song but in the movie the last waltz?

  • @MaxOrlok Bob Dylan "Planet Waves"

  • the people in the crowd scare me.

  • @hulkmam3 yeah, and just think~>they're on a computer screen

  • dylan & young - just great!

  • Off key someone sayd? Did either Young or Dylan ever bother with singing in key? There lies their greatness... in being human and sing straight out of their heart... key or no key! Dylan himself sang this song a million times... still u can't possibly find 2 simular versions :)

  • Glad I found this...thank you for posting it!

  • Beautiful.

  • his passion exudes. fame is very different from money. the amount of young musicians they have brought on is far more important than monetary gains. hope there students take up the guantlet cos we are running out of the talent and passion of neil..hail

  • pere sempre bello

  • Happy 69th Birthday Bob Dylan.....a bittersweet rendition of the song being off key, but Jerry's solo rocks as he used to play this tune with his JGB band. I miss you Jerry and Bill Graham...you were such assets to the San Fran rock scene.

  • Forever young: Happy Birthday, Bob Dylan (24th May)

  • I've seen both (all) soooo many times. So regretting staying outside soldier field in 95 and hittin the tank instead of goin in...who knew the would be an end..but there was a new beginning as well...all good things in all good time

  • I have seen them both in various concerts and feel honored! I was at the Indianapolis show weeks before Jerry passed on 8/9/95. I still have the summer tour poster, which Jerry was unable to complete. He will always be near us within the music he left. Do not forgot the Dead!!!!!!!

  • @flannes1972 never brother

  • @flannes1972 I don't think anyone could ever forget the dead. They will live forever. Whenever we pack ship and move to another planet, the dead will be played on that planet.

  • @flannes1972 the last show with jerry was at soldier field july 9th 1995. google it

  • someone know the year of this show? and where?

  • Beautiful, but so off tune and thus sad. "Forever Young" played to cute, actually young audience by pushing 60s folks. Go figure. Will there be room for new "great ones"? Jerry saves the day.

  • wow what a song

  • neil young *classic* what a day......... =;(

    may you stay forever young

  • nevermind jamjax i misread what you posted

  • is this the polo fields show that john fogerty was at along w/ neil and other? this has always been one of my favorite dead shows.... and @jamjax, jerry does sing this song, but if neil is there, why would he.

  • Why are none of the Dead singing. When Jerry does this song there are backup singers.. I heard somewhere that Jerry didn't want to sing cause Neil is off key.??

  • @jamjax

Jerry sang this song with the Jerry Garcia Band

  • Where and when was this show?

  • 10 11 91 to my recollection

  • On November 3, 1991, a free concert called "Laughter, Love and Music" was held at Golden Gate Park. I was there, it was beautiful. The Dead were the house band.

  • @blueskydog it was FREE? My mind is blown!!!!!!! Too bad I was 5 yrs old when this took place!!!!!

  • On November 3, 1991, a free concert called "Laughter, Love and Music" was held at Golden Gate Park. I was there front row all day, and it was beautiful...The Grateful Dead were the house band...played with everybody!

  • wow what a great moment in time. i wish i couldve been there. i wish...

  • God rest your soul, JG. Thanks Farmer John.

  • he's singing about himself hehehe.

  • This is ppretty lame, it would of been awesome being there though, good jerry jam in the mid though.

  • like your channel keep em coming theneilguy

  • if you dont feel or understand what this was about maybe you just had to be there 6.55 mins of peace love and music most simply put that what it was all about

  • this is fucking amazing!!!!!!

  • Wow, Neil Young and Jerry Garcia in one stage. Doesn't get better than this.

  • What do you mean Neil was stealing Bob's stuff??

  • Comment removed

  • whats this 15cds v 2 cds?

  • Hendrixqw1 What I meant was just that Neil has done 15 great CDs and Bob has done 2. Yeah it's just my opinion and I love the Tom thumbs down blues I get. I think Bob is great though and one of the best ever .. I guess I just wanted to say what a god Neil is to me. And that Neil's voice is sometimes great to me but he sings this song badly I am embarrassed for him. Like he could care less.

  • I love neil I have all of his albums on his Ipod but Bob has way more then 2 good ones

    Modern Times

    Together Through Life

    Blond on Blonde

    Blood On The Tracks

    The Freewheelin

    Desire

    The list keeps going

  • @170Embraer175 OK I understand.

  • Stop it 11xzxzxz just stop it!

  • Neil Young is the best songwriter of all time - move over Dylan, John Lennon (well John don't move too much) cause Neil is the best. If you don't know his writing with Buffalo Springfield or haven't listen to all of his records in the 70s then you can't judge. Neil sings his own songs better I must say.

  • Ummmm. This is a Bob Dylan song. I'm just sayin'.

  • ...we are talking music dude not baseball, how dare you ;-)

  • ...shows again...thanks for the prompt reply anyway :-)

  • Forever Neil Young.

  • Bill Graham tribute concert

  • i don't know,...seems like an awful lot of 'Wayfarers' for '91

  • from Nov '91 i think in San Fran

  • Jerry's a great guitar player, but that solo always cracks me up a lot xD.

  • definetly inspiring...what year was this? post '86 I imagine

  • boss

  • Awesome.

  • this is severely cool.

  • Amazing! Beatiful version... thanks for posting it!!
