Unfortunately, they are going to get scrapped, or they all are scrapped already. Its a sad thing. Maybe the can of soda you drank was part of an F-14! you never know, but its a shame that they're gone. Now the Navy is left without a pure fleet defender. Thanks to DICK cheney, he canceled the F-14 upgrade program back in the 90's, and it left the F-14 to slowly age.

the future is here, but to be honest nothing like seeing a tomcat fly with the wings swept back...The navy has advanced weapon systems to defend the ship and for the first time the government will be spending more money on UAV's than traditional planes..pilots will be flying from a nice chair instead of the cockpit in the future

i used to work on these wonderful aircraft back in my navy days as a jet mechanic. once in a while its a pain to maintain it but it makes up for how great this thing flies and how it looks good both airborne and on the deck. true that they have the super hornet but it will never replace the aura and charisma of this one of a kind aircraft. magnificent airplane i really miss the regal TOMCAT. there will be no plane that will fill the Tomcats shoes, no plane that can do it as awesome as the Tomcat, not even the Super Hornets (just plain shitty aircraft), the JSF, and others. everyone knows the Tomcat does it the best and will NEVER be forgotten. It was a bad choice to replace the Tomcat with the Super Hornet, it's not as impressive as the Tomcat, and the JSF!.....ONE ENGINE IN THE OCEAN? Not a good thing. Thats why there was nothing bad with the Tomcat, it had all the best features!

you and me both man, i want to join the RAAF as well. our F-111's are being replaced and they were firstly going to be replaced with F/A-18 Super Hornets but that got reviewed and for a few days i was hoping to god that we would get F-14's....but it turns out we are getting F-35's

Well keeping the F/A-18E/F Super Hornets is definitely what the Navy is going to do introducing the F-35 JSF at around 2015, but the worst is knowing that we're going to have a single-engine aircraft flying around the ocean. I don't like the F-35 one bit if your going swimming with one turbofan error or a blowout. I'd rather take my odds in a Super Hornet that has two powerful engines. F/A-18's are an incredible aircraft and will continue to be for us. The F-14 Tomcat will always be the best.

How can you replace the greatest fighter aircraft with a Hornet. Some su27/30 etc pilots are now extremely relieved as they will now be able to fly rings around the US Navy. Boeing must have some awesome lobbying power! In Australia, we are replacing our beloved and supreme F-111's with Super Hornets(prior to the arrival of the F-35) and it stinks of bribery. They are both far inferior in the strike role.

F-111's have been gone for a very long time dude. also f-14 is considered a fighter and an interceptor, not a strike fighter. The threats are not there so they got rid of the best fighter because of it's cost and replaced it with other planes that can do the job to their point of veiw. The f-35 isn't really that bad though

We still use the F-111. We have around 36 of them. Still the very best in the world. I realise the f-35 is stealthier etc but it has nowhere near the low level speed, range or payload of the F-111 (or F-14 in a strike role) and many observers think they will be inferior to the Sukhoi's. That has never been said of our F-111's or your F-14's.

aircraft like the F-14 and F-111 are not so technacially advanced as the f-35. I think the F-14 is a much better aircraft then the F-35 but the the the military wants stealth aircraft over better performing aircraft. the whole idea of stealth is to not be seen by the enemy so a dogfight between sukhoi's and F-35's would be very unlikely

Hey man believe i know whar i´m talking about. That is NOT smoke, it´s AIR. In some kind of maneuvers the static pressure of the air and temperature reached there can make the air condensate. It only happens sometimes in heavy maneuvers. That was NOT a fake. Trust me...
