  • @sjonesiegolfman

It works exactly the same way. I'm doing it now, installing Windows 7 into Parallels on a new Mini using Remote Disc from my MacBook Pro. Slow, but it works perfectly.

  • Hi.. Does anyone know why there is not a remote disc icon in OS X Lion Finder? I am on a Mac Mini. Thanks

  • @EROS3667 Thank You :)

  • @JigglesJingle Glad you have yourself convinced you have a better computer than a Mac.

  • @DetroitBORG Macs will rule the EARTH!!!!!!!!

  • @DetroitBORG I get all the way to the end but when clicking on the CD/DVD it gives me this:

"The operation can't be completed because the original item for 'Cd Name' can't be found."

(From Mac Book Pro to Mac Book Air)

    Help please.

  • @JigglesJingle I agree with your statement, but there is a nicer way of putting things. make an opinion and not smack talk

  • @JigglesJingle I agree with your statement, but there is a nicer way of putting things. make it an opinion and not smack talk

  • @JigglesJingle why did you come to the video then?

  • @JigglesJingle Most computers don't have more hardware then a Mac. I would like to see a windows machine with 64GB of RAM.

  • Omg how rich ru

  • I don't have DVD or CD Sharing in my MacBook Air

  • @JOHUAJHOn You enable the feature on other computers, not the MacBook Air since it doesn't have the drive.

  • @DetroitBORG OK Thanks =)

  • Thats cool it works with my pc and my mac

  • How can I use Remote Disk if the Macbook Air is booted in Windows 7?

  • @sunderhoeksema You would use the Windows equivalent since you are operating in their environment now.

  • thanks very much for your reply, I'm gonna try that

  • how come i dont have dvd asharing on my dell? how will i get that?

  • thank you, you helped me correct the mistake i was repeatedly making for 15 minutes.

  • @w35t51d369 Good to hear :)

  • hello i just recently bought my mac book air 11inch and it doesnt have a hard drive how can i install a microsoft office for mac? since its expensive from apple

  • @anyratyvonne Sorry, ignore my first comment. I thought you were talking about Windows, not office. Actually, if you follow this tutorial, you'll be able to buy the discs and instal the software via remote disc.

  • Hi there, I can not see the CD or DVD sharing from the list on my MBA??

  • @luqshal Unless an optical drive is connected, you won't have that option on the MBA. You have to enable sharing on the other computer, the one you are borrowing the drive from.

  • @DetroitBORG i cant find the option in the setting on the MBA where u tick to turn on the DVD or CD sharing...? i have turn it on on the windows pc but i dont have the same option on the mac....?!

  • can you do this upgrading to snow leopard using the macbook pro and the one to be upgraded is the imac?

  • @iTouchPsP I don't see why not.

  • Can I do the sharing to install Microsoft office? Thanks, great video!

  • @Brasilera1214 I'm being told you can, so yes!

  • thank you this is so useful!

  • how did you get that VLC app

  • @101ipodguy There's a OSX version, just Google VLC for Mac.

  • I have a problem. After my mac book air boot into the startup manager, no network appear. I am using the ad-hoc network from window 7 and it's open.

Please Help me because i want to re-install my Mac OS.

  • @Happymegaman If you are using the startup manager on the MBA, you should be using the USB restore flashdrive to restore your MBA. Does your MBA recognize this when it's plugged in. Othewise, there is no networking in the startup manager.

  • @DetroitBORG I have a 4 gb formatted flash drive under fat32. I have no idea how to make it become a Usb restore flashdrive since i don't have any cd/dvd drive in my MBA. I only have another laptop which is window 7 and it contain dvd/drive.My MBA can't detect my ad-hoc network from win7. So, i guess i should stick to the usb restore flashdrive which you've mention. Can you teach me how to make a USB restore flashdrive. And I already have the recovery disks. Thanks for the reply

  • @Happymegaman Apple included a USB restore flash drive with your MacBook Air, this is what you will use to restore your operating system and software. To backup your computer's contents excluding the OS, use the Time Machine feature and attach a USB drive of sufficient size.

  • @DetroitBORG No, there isn't any USB restore flash drive in my MBA box. Only 2 recovery disks. And few manuals, and some cables. My Mac is the old model, which means a larger MBA.

  • Comment removed

  • So I am Having problems accessing a PCs Optical drive. My MacBook Pro is accessed fine, but two different PCs running Windows 7 do now allow me to access their drives. Is there permissions that I need to get thru their firewalls or something?

  • @liljiggajlm There are so many possibilities that I'm going to have to refer you to the support document linked in this video's description.

  • @DetroitBORG Ive followed that. the system requirements do not include windows 7, is there and alternative?

  • @liljiggajlm Apple does have troubleshooting and directions on how to use this with Windows Vista and 7 so ignore the system requirements, the software should work with Windows 7 so there are other issues at play.

  • what screen capture software do you use/was it free/do you know of a freeware app;lication

    thanks derek busord

    thebuzzardsden

  • hi great review, but i cant see the full address in the description. It just says (support.apple.com)

  • What is that app with that green duck on your dock?

  • @12rens That's Adium, a universal IM client for Mac.

  • Apple is cute lol

  • I have a faulty iMac 21''

It does not properly read some discs.

I was wondering if I could use my other older generation iMac which my household uses to read the disc and install the game on my 21'' iMac ?

  • @elliottonyt I wouldn't be surprised if the game doesn't let you do it, but otherwise its possible. I was told of some copyright restrictions that prevent games from being accessing via networked drives so you may run into that, I haven't seen it personally.

  • @DetroidBORG can you do a demo of how to do a set up for your mic cuz i thin i saw a blue mic .. i really dont know how to but the sound in the video .. !!

  • @MEESH810 I've actually already done a demo on my channel. Just search my channel for the Blue Yeti mic and you'll find several videos and demos about it. Beyond that, all you do is plug it into a USB port and use any audio recording app to use it, it's seen right away without the need to instal additional drivers.

  • I can't get it to work on my old PowerBook G4, even though it has the Leopard.

The reason I want to do it, is because the drive is broken on the G4.

  • @tchunu You'll have to instal software from Apple, it comes standard with Snow Leopard but Leopard doesn't have it. I'll send you a link to the download.

  • we have i macs at school i have a old tiger ibook i copied photobooth and it would not work on tiger

  • Lol "very cute, apple." that made me laugh

  • @KnightFader My favorite part of the video ;)

  • apple with bluescreen, ok fine ill make a mac icon with kernal panic

    mac 1 pc 1

    we are tied

  • @videogames73 The screen would just be gray then ;)

  • @DetroitBORG agreed

  • Very helpful

  • thx ..You save my Life ;)

  • BOO HP and Windows! HOORAY Mac and OS X!!

  • @PlausableApple4 It's reasonable to say that is the last HP laptop you'll see me purchase...and it's quite old.

  • @DetroitBORG KK!

  • Once again, a well done video. Keep up the good work Borg!

  • @dirckxd Thank You :)

  • THANKS YOU ARE THE BEST!!!

  • I have to say, you can also choose to RIP the dvd or cd on a mac or a pc with an optical drive.

Then copy it to the macbook air and open it just as if it was any other dmg file.

Note: besure to RIP to DMG and not ISO or IMG

  • Ahah! That monitor with bsod was funny! Unfortunately I'm experience that too many times.

  • lol apple with blue screen of death

  • New microphone?

  • @SecretTheo Not new, just the Blue Yeti USB mic I rarely use ;)

  • Great video. I can't wait til i get my 11 inch Air in a couple of months. I just have to wait for the next semester for school to start. I am getting the 1.6.128GB option.

  • @iKingAntonio Nicely specked, make sure you get the 4GB of RAM above all else.

  • i was never a huge fan of caprica, gave it a couple episodes but. meh lol

  • @detroitBORG I sent you a Private message the other day, did you get it?

  • hey please help me..y my macbook air dosent have the dvd and cd sharing tick option

  • @3566336 That's because that's the setting you want to do on the computer you want to share the dvd drive of, not on the air itself :)

  • This video rocked. Seriously.

  • wow you just saved alot of people $80

  • can you do the same with a blue ray

  • They changed YouTube. Again.

  • @ Detriot BORG not to get in your business but what job do you have?

  • just tried this out at the apple store today and its the best laptop EVER. its lite weight and the buttons and keyboard feel great

  • can i do this on vista ?

  • @dylanbobmaley Yes! Just instal the software I linked in the description.

  • Good tut but one problem. If you plan on using Bootcamp to install Win 7 on the MacBook Air, you're out of luck since Bootcamp won't allow use of remotes DVD/CD players. I had to goto the Apple store and borrow a Superdrive to do the install.

  • OMG! i didnt expect a windows machine ever showing up in your videos! ;)

  • is it just you in your house and no one else?

    You have like 10 pc's and 10 mac's along with 50 ipods!

    exaggeration... maybe :P

  • How is Caprica?

  • This is an awesome video, Awesome quality, awesome everything. Great Job

  • I know you probably get it a lot, but what did u edit this video with? ALso, keep up the phenomenal videos! I'm addicted to them

  • @psnARMEDps3 I use iMovie '11. Thanks, I'll keep pumping them out if you keep watching :).

  • I have to say i'm surprised that you own a Windows machine.

  • @MSComputerVideos I have 7 believe it or not ;)

  • @DetroitBORG But you also have 40 macs :) You must have a good job :D

  • @fulloftech I only use Macs now, definitely not a PC person anymore...but I need to keep up with PCs regardless.

  • @DetroitBORG wow, I'm shocked. I would have never expected that since you seem so into apple. On the other hand though, I have about 9 vintage(ish) Macs, yet there is still several Pc's and parts of PC's at my house

  • @MSComputerVideos It wouldn't be surprising if DetroitBORG bought it just to be thorough :P

Does DVD sharing work with a Mac with a broken disc drive or just if you want to show off the function?

  • first
