  • if only pop music writers still wrote music like this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

music died along with all other forms of culture in the 1970s!

  • thank you

  • Captian Glenn Miller and the Army Air Force Training Command Orchestra issued the song in October, 1944 as V-Disc 201A, VP618, featuring Sgt. Johnny Desmond on lead vocals and The Crew Chiefs. Miles Davis featured the song on his Birth of the Cool collection in the 1950s. The song was also featured on Ken Burns' Jazz series.

Thanks for sharing your knowledge of this song's history with Glen Miller and Miles Davis. It is appreciated.

  • Your welcome. From what I read, he really did sound like an ass! Although I still buy his music, but that's mainly for the vocalists he hired, such as Helen Ward, Martha Tilton, Helen Forrest and Peggy Lee, plus many others. He probably had the finest vocalists of the swing era, infact I'm sure of it

I’ve noticed, when interviewed, the BG girl singers all seem to be really diplomatic (maybe it’s the times they were from). They stop short and never say anything BAD about Goodman. If the singers had been born in the 2nd half of the century they wouldn’t hold back, they would spill the goods on Goodman in a heartbeat. Corrections always welcome.

  • Benny Goodman was an ass ! He needed a good kick in the nuts ! Helen Forrest was not amused by him either
