This reunion tour was in 2007, they promise after the tour a new album and that never happened, Roth was back just for the tour , for the money, maybe in 2010 or 2011 they are gonna come back with a different singer maybe Hagar again or Cheronne , who knows music is one more business.

Dave sang so well on this tour, the best since the Fair Warning tour, I'd say. The reason? No more dancing, prancing and running around. He's mostly standing still and singing whereas from Diver Down tour onward he was always out of breath and too busy dancing to sing. I've seen VH several times, in 84, the 5150 tour, the 2004 tour and this one, and this was by far the best.
But just for the record, Wolfgang has NO stage presence whatsoever (as evidenced by his aside to DLR). I miss Mike.
I accept Wolfgang because he does play the bass parts and sing well (plus he's the inspiration for Edward to stay straight and make music), but he's still no Mike Anthony. I do miss Mike, but not so much that I won't still follow VH with Wolfgang on bass.

Man it was a GREAT FUCKIN SHOW!!!!! Completely blew me away. I was up rocking out the whole night. Eddie never sounded better, must be due to being sober. He really went back and made sure he learnd all the licks just like the albums. Worth every penny!!!

Van Halen always rocked / rocks, but they never sounded very good live. It's alot more noticable these days because they simply can't jump up in the air anymore due to broken hips, risk of stroke, etc. At least they aren't dead yet! This is still better than Van Hagar....
kind of hard to pipe in background vocals when they are not playing with a click track. Ed is also known for changing the pace of the song live. Also note: You can use an EVENTIDE on vocals and make them sound better as well. Just a thought!

Backing Vocals? That is a dumb ass statement. DLR has worked hard to regain and renew for this tour. If anything, the reports are that the sound is loud and muffled...not crystal clear...especially vocals. DLR and VH are the shit...Bye Bye Sammy and Gary!

I beg to differ about the sound and vocals. Saw them in Verizon Center, 2nd row center at the catwalk and again a week later at nassau coliseum from 8th row center from the catwalk (but kept walking up to where the 1st/2nd rows met at the barriers) and the sound was 100% better in NY. At times in Verizon it took several seconds to figure out what song they were starting. Both shows rocked, but nassau col. was far better!
I agree that some back vocs are piped in or maybe the keyboard player is singing offstage. Wolf is definetly singing though and I think he does a good job. I think Eddie's vocs are canned on some songs, cause his voice isn't that good these days after they removed his cancerous tongue.
I came in from Fort Lauderdale for this concert. I just found out they will be down here in Feb. Can't wait to see them again! It was worth every penny from the airfare, parking, tickets, etc. My only complaint is that the concert went by to fast!!
David Lee Roth seems so old. More so than Mick Jagger or Roger Daltry. Can't Explain it. Maybe it's his missing hair and high kicks. His 80's persona is gone much like Reagonomics.

I was at the MSG show and Halen owned....THEY SIMPLY OWNED!!! Cant wait to they come back to this part of the world so I can see them kick ass again....if you havent seen this tour yet then run and get tickets and prepare to get HALENIZED, MOTHERFUCKA!!!!

I just saw VH at the Staple Center in LA.
I went in a sceptic like most of us. Could they really pull it off after all these years? How would Dave sound? Wolfie???
Man it was a GREAT FUCKIN SHOW!!!!! Completely blew me away. I was up rocking out the whole night. Eddie never sounded better, must be due to being sober. He really went back and made sure he learnd all the licks just like the albums. Worth every penny!!!

"Playing" a guitar by tapping is not guitar playing. People like Steve Hackett used tapping (but tastefully) while Eddie was in diapers. Oh, I've been playing guitar for 25 years. Most excellent guitar players I know never though Van halen was good.

These are truely creative and thoughtfull players.
Playing with distortion and tapping isn't good guitar playing. If you play guitar, then you'll know how easy it is to "sound good" doing this. 11 year old kids can do this.

So you're your saying that if you take away destortion and effects from Paul Gilbert, Yngwie Malmsteen, etc. they would not play as good? there is more to playing than effects. Music knowledge, scales, theory..these guys have all that & a bag of chips. I find it insulting to think they would all of the sudden suck with out effects. Get a clue man.
Also, how many of your players were inducted to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame? Are we all wrong?

You are an idiot.Eddie Van Halen created a new style and sound that has still not been surpassed.He is a legend because he is an outstanding musician and songwriter.Brian May is a close friend of Eddie's and has said in numerous interviews that Eddie is brilliant.Look it up.You might learn something.

I have the Brain May/Eddie van halen album. I like Brian's playing on it. People in the music business hang out together and kiss each others asses - who the fuck cares what they think. Van halen is NOT a great guitar player. He is boring to listen too.

Van Halen always rocked / rocks, but they never sounded very good live. It's alot more noticable these days because they simply can't jump up in the air anymore due to broken hips, risk of stroke, etc. At least they aren't dead yet! This is still better than Van Hagar....

kind of hard to pipe in background vocals when they are not playing with a click track. Ed is also known for changing the pace of the song live. Also note: You can use an EVENTIDE on vocals and make them sound better as well. Just a thought!

he doesnt use it here, but ne 1 who was at one of the concerts would notice Eddie has a guitar with a "4" painted on it. Nothing more, just a black guitar wth a 4. I've heard rumors that Dave n Ed r thinking about cutting a studio album after the success of the tour and theyre gettin along just fine. Ne 1 think that random "4" is cryptic for "VAN HALEN 4"?

Backing Vocals? That is a dumb ass statement. DLR has worked hard to regain and renew for this tour. If anything, the reports are that the sound is loud and muffled...not crystal clear...especially vocals. DLR and VH are the shit...Bye Bye Sammy and Gary!

Bro, all I said was that they are piping in background vocals because Wolfie can't sing like Mikey did; every review I have read from fans say that the background vocals are too full and perfect hell even when Ed is not at his mic the vocals sound full and rich. not a big deal. but it is fact. that is what they are doing. I beg to differ about the sound and vocals. Saw them in Verizon Center, 2nd row center at the catwalk and again a week later at nassau coliseum from 8th row center from the catwalk (but kept walking up to where the 1st/2nd rows met at the barriers) and the sound was 100% better in NY. At times in Verizon it took several seconds to figure out what song they were starting. Both shows rocked, but nassau col. was far better!

I agree that some back vocs are piped in or maybe the keyboard player is singing offstage. Wolf is definetly singing though and I think he does a good job. I think Eddie's vocs are canned on some songs, cause his voice isn't that good these days after they removed his cancerous tongue.

I came in from Fort Lauderdale for this concert. I just found out they will be down here in Feb. Can't wait to see them again! It was worth every penny from the airfare, parking, tickets, etc. My only complaint is that the concert went by to fast!!
