top 10 best bands ever number 1 the jam 2 the clash number 3 the specials 4 the who 5 stiff little fingers 6 the undertones 7 madness 8 buzzcocks 9 sham69 10 secret affair
This has to be my most favourite jam song, even though i love them all. I may be 16 and not have been around back then, but i sure know that they don't make bands like this anymore, which is what the music industry needs, more meaning in songs instead of sex drugs and killing people :/ i think that most people will agree, weller is a true inspiration to most and his lyrics are genius!
In a last few years, did any, any UK band make a song such as this one? This is made 30! years ago and still sounds fresh. Now we have many shining stars bands/artists, but could anyone spell say three of their songs. Oh my God I cant believe it...
from what I read they was pretty pissed when making this vid as the group and polydors a&r manager dennis munday was drinking in a soho pub waiting for the production team to set up which eventually took all day, there is reference to paul falling off the stall which I didn't see and lip synching being out on a few occassions
Few songwriters (in my opinion) possess the aptitude to open a discussion without bias, without sap, without cliche. Even fewer can skirt the jagged line between personal problems and sounding sorry for themselves. Weller is one of a very, very few humans that can do this. How I love these guys. If they knew even half how much.
Quality record although NOT stereo as stated! The other post of this sounds better but you can't comment on that one!Ah well you pays ya money ! Pax to all from Ian Smith.Xxx.("Two lovers missing the tranquillity of solitude") How good is that line!!!! :-)
This Is One Of those Very few Very Special Moments That Enters The Open Window Of our Lives!
This Song is So Amazingly Honest It Hurts!
All the Syrupy Blandness has Been Removed and a True Picture of Our Existence is Put On Canvas for our Uneducated Eyes and Small Minds to past Worthless Comments on!
"Mod evolved from Punk". Are you retarded? Mod predated punk by about ten years. The Second Wave of Mod came afer punk, but was influenced by 60 bands as much as the punks. This song is not punk, and if you think it is, you're stupid.
absolutely lad the jam were never really punk but were born out of the whole movement working class band who spoke for thousands of us went a bit mainstream in the end but where bloody great the mod father lives on.
nonsense "born out of working class movement " dressed like mods took on the symbols..target ..give it some weller growl .. read up george orwell and listen to your nearest and dearest..
oh and throw in your local dialect...maybe try quilted tissue to wipe ya gob wi ..laddo
some bands with this feel i have on import, john the postmen and the legendary lost...the conscienti liberte complilation from the 1970s-80s,and the grocerys....american one timers..another great jam song was 'on the spot'1983////???
such a fuckin' Masterpiece!!!!......How come theres no more bands and (direct) writers like Paul Weller and the Jam anymore....or am i just getting fuckin' old....probably the latter...!
I discovered this great band quite by accident (an old EastEnders episode) and HAD to find this song! It's awesome! I've gone and found a LOT of their songs. Also great! Thanks for posting!!! :-)
