I didn't notice when I saw the episode on TV, but he left about 1000 rpm on the table for his 1-2 shift and even more on what I guess was a 3-4 shift. Not an FI car so I'm sure it's still making power at that point.

They all end up handling about the same though. if you can get used to rear wheel drive. I like rear wheel drive though. I suggest if you want to take a fun ride though take a mustang out on the road. You won't be sad.. =]
the difference is, the Vairon could thump on mile after mile at top speed and still be in one piece ready to drive to work the next day, With in-car audio, Air con and nice interior. any other car that goes that speed is an uncomfortable, striped out deaf maker that would prolly end up in flames if driven at top speed for long... The 2011 Mustang GT (412hp 5.0L) lapped gingerman raceway in the exact same time as the new M3. The E92 M3 is in the top three handling production cars out, and runs a 12.7 quarter mile. LOL well that vette, or once was vette has 2400hp and is a purpose built race car. it is driven on the street but IS NOT DAILY driven. new body and motor. dont argue with a STOCK lamborghini.
there are 1400 hp nissan STOCK BODY daily driven that run in the 7s and 8 all day long. and they dont drive like a fiber glass and sheet metal rolling motor. there in no comfort in that car.
lambo is 1000 times more comfrotable and practicle on the street.

You've obviously never driven a newer musclecar. I drive both a GTI and a mustang.. the mustang handles like a dream. maybe back in the 1970's they handled like shit but they handle just fine now.

Nothing can compare to modern race cars. that's why the price tag on them is $70,000+.. The only mustang you're gonna find for that much is the shelby gt 500 skr. otherwise you're looking at 20 - 30G. which is the ballpark range for the gti and other modern mid range cars. They all end up handling about the same though. if you can get used to rear wheel drive. I like rear wheel drive though. I suggest if you want to take a fun ride though take a mustang out on the road. You won't be sad.. =]

the difference is, the Vairon could thump on mile after mile at top speed and still be in one piece ready to drive to work the next day, With in-car audio, Air con and nice interior. any other car that goes that speed is an uncomfortable, striped out deaf maker that would prolly end up in flames if driven at top speed for long... But still 254 is a very respectable top speed.

Well, the UA cirtainly has the record, no doubt.
It does very much seem that bugatti and Shelby designed their cars from a VERY different perspective.
Shelby- light, striped out (but with some modern convenience in order to not be called basic) with a REALLY big engine. a masterpiece of mechanics, much like the Mclaren F1 in ethos.

256.18 actually. And yes, it is. But it doesn't weigh 2 tons and it also handles like a bucket of horse crap. The point of the Veyron wasn't just to be the fastest car, it was to be the best. And seeing as its the 2nd fastest car in the world and it does everything else as well i'd say it still is very much the best.

really?.. agreed that some are poorly made, emphasis on "some". However, if you tell me that euro cars are going to be better? no no no, what we have here is a incredibly expensive italian supercar, not a every day car. If you want equal comparison, at the VERY least compare a '09 corvette/viper/saleen s7/ford gt - etc.
Not to mention those are still cheaper than the lambo.
Price/Power ratio is all that really matters, not power alone.

V-dub here is going to finish his race in 45 minutes. You got approximately a 15 minute spread when you are all said and done. As a couple of you said yea you can get a Golf to go that fast but I'm sure you are not going to be using the same engine, hell let alone anything else original besides the body of the car

Haha alright guys just simplify it down. Assume there is a 100 mile straight track and we'll cut the lambo down to 200mph average (it can go faster but we are just keeping it simple). So at that speed it can finish up the race in about 30 minutes. The Golf on the otherhand I am assuming is governed at around 150mph if it can even reach that. So our little

8 sec per mile would make...
100 km diff = 800 secs
800 / 60 = 13.3 mins.
A supercar is good for drag races n short sprints but not really comparable for a real race.
PLUS... a Lambo factory stock is already suped up while tht GOLF GTI wasn't.
You tune it up like they usually do for street races... tht's a whole new level.
