beast :) havnt done this for 3-4 years and had forgot most of it and the application! have definatly been doing the bit at 1:24 wrong (somthing, tan sau?) the last few days, cheers
@Acification95 The forms give examples of how to move your body and energy properly but they are not a play book of "when I guy does this you should do that..." Wing Chun is a concept driven art where the reactions of these concepts are fine tuned through Chi Sau (sticky hand sensitivity training), a variety of partner drills, and of course freestyle sparring at a variety of contact levels. I do believe forms are a useful and convenient tool and I enjoy the historical aspect of them as well.
@Acification95 It is possible to achieve skill in Wing Chun and never learn the forms but they are useful in teaching how to link body movement (structure) with intent of energy. In sparring/fighting you certainly are not seeking to follow a certain pattern of movements. The forms are more like a stone used to sharpen a knife; the knife is what is actually used in combat not the stone. Forms are just one slice of the Wing Chun training pie.
Nice video overall. One observation though on the penultimate movement (i.e. before final triple punch) is that there should be contact between the arms and a brushing and specifically turning motion downwards. My understanding of this is they are not strikes - rather, you are breaking imaginary wrist locks.
I understand forms vary between schools - But I think practitioners from most lineages would share my interpretation.
Great mixing of the hand movements with bag and dummy strikes, as well as the pole to establish centreline. The only thing I'd suggest to people is to remember to keep your off-hand (the one tucked away in the one-hand movements) elbow tucked as close to perpendicular to your opponent as possible.
I'd love to see all six forms done this way, great job and keep the videos coming!
I'm afraid that there is one word for this video: tense. Although i will say, power is power, and whether it's from relaxation or muscle it can be very impressive.
As far as I know, the double fak-sau should have an inertia going straight out to hit with the knife of the hand, and not rotating about the shoulder.
Why let people post when you only want positive, quotes . Doesn't your Wing Chun training prepare you to handle criticism and realities of life ??? Shame on you !
I very much enjoyed the video and the added applications for each move. I am currently studying Wign Chun and am learning the Sil Lim Tao form. I've noticed small, subtle differences in certain techniques that you've executed as opposed to the ones my Sifu teaches me. Never the less, I think that this is a very sound, technical video which anyone seeking to learn Wing Chun can appreciate. Thank you so much....

Good demonstration on the applications of the movements. A nice twist. It was a little rushed, but still pretty good. Thanks for sharing.

@TheMartialartsJedi
Wong Shun Leung was Ip Man's first student. There is little observable difference between their Siu Lim Tau forms.

Thank you for this video.
I love the way you show the first forms consistancy through-out training.
basics are the foundation on which to build, if you have no foundations, you will crumble.

excellent form, although i'd like to point out that your elbows are flared out a little too much.
