Many people don't know this, but Sakurai was really hurt before his Hughes fight anyway. He was hit by a car sometime during the training for his fight. Said so on his site.
Still be 100% honest with me. Do you really think he would have beaten Hughes even if he was 100% healthy? I hate Hughes as much as the next guy but still have to give it to him.
Sakurai's career took a turn for the worst right after his near death in that car accident. Many believe it was the cause of his loss. However, I would agree with you Patrick.. I've always believed that Hughes would LAY out a victory if they had fought again. I know sakurai, he's one of my favorite fighters but read what these guys are saying. They're talking about the Diego and Karo fight, and using"NICK"diaz as a reference since he fought both those guys. (they're calling nick , nate which is nick's brother)
To begin with, Karo had a very close fight, and hardly trained to get in shape, as for Diaz, he waited too long for a stand-up. Not to mention, the best Diego ever was exposed by Koscheck pretty clearly.
Not to mention; Diego could barely beat (if even beat), John Alessio; he struggled over and over to take him down. Hayato Sakurai is worlds better than Alessio, he's got excellent conditioning, striking and ground skills.

Mach has had knee problems for the past two years. He's finally starting to heal up. You can see in most ohis recent fights his knees or left knee has been tapped up. He'll be back, win or lose he's still one of my favorite fighters of all time.
If I recall Gomi has been knocked down (from a nasty head kick), but he recovered immediatly; even without the count I doubt his opponent would be able to finish him, his chin is just too good. That said, I think Mach is going to take the rematch. Supposidly he was in some kind of accident that messed him up a while back, but he looks amazing as a lightweight now. Even if he can't KO Gomi he could definitally sub him.
Gomi was KOed in Shooto I believe but because of the 10 count he recovered if that had happened anywhere else he would have been done. Nobodies invulnerable to being KO.
Mach is a great fighter and IMHO better then Gomi, he was dominating Gomi until he made the stupid mistake of going for a judo throw and Gomi got his back and pounded him out. I hope Mach gets a rematch and final KO Gomi.

Well, consider the fact that not once was Diego able to land an effective punch or kick. Diego might've "danced around," but Koscheck was incredibly effective in the striking game; landing effective jabs, crosses, low kicks and high kicks against Diego.

I know sakurai, he's one of my favorite fighters but read what these guys are saying. They're talking about the Diego and Karo fight, and using"NICK"diaz as a reference since he fought both those guys. (they're calling nick , nate which is nick's brother)

To begin with, Karo had a very close fight, and hardly trained to get in shape, as for Diaz, he waited too long for a stand-up. Not to mention, the best Diego ever was exposed by Koscheck pretty clearly.
Not to mention; Diego could barely beat (if even beat), John Alessio; he struggled over and over to take him down. Hayato Sakurai is worlds better than Alessio, he's got excellent conditioning, striking and ground skills.

Mach has had knee problems for the past two years. He's finally starting to heal up. You can see in most ohis recent fights his knees or left knee has been tapped up. He'll be back, win or lose he's still one of my favorite fighters of all time.

If I recall Gomi has been knocked down (from a nasty head kick), but he recovered immediatly; even without the count I doubt his opponent would be able to finish him, his chin is just too good. That said, I think Mach is going to take the rematch. Supposidly he was in some kind of accident that messed him up a while back, but he looks amazing as a lightweight now. Even if he can't KO Gomi he could definitally sub him.

Gomi was KOed in Shooto I believe but because of the 10 count he recovered if that had happened anywhere else he would have been done. Nobodies invulnerable to being KO.

Mach is a great fighter and IMHO better then Gomi, he was dominating Gomi until he made the stupid mistake of going for a judo throw and Gomi got his back and pounded him out. I hope Mach gets a rematch and final KO Gomi.
