  • Haha, they played this on the SD station on a nice breezy saturday, great morning..

  • She's hotter than most of these weave-wearing, fake-ass blonde R&B singers of today.

  • favo collection

    in the world <3 classic

  • I love this song. Mashed it up to Ne-Yo's Because of You, same type of baseline. The original is the best.

  • YouTube is starting to piss me off. I uploaded a video with only a 10 second snippit of THIS SONG and they rejected my entire video. Damn it!

I'm glad that you're allowed to keep it on here though. Keep the music going!

  • You gotta see how Freddie Washington does this bassline

  • I love this song!

  • I come back to this video often -regardless of time, it is always modern and meaningful.

  • Susan Granger: are you out there. This was our song once upon a time in Salamanca 1982, Rojo y Negro disco. Do you remember? You know who this is. Peace be with you. Briano

  • Sounds so damn awesome, chills

  • Come get your black bin bags...

  • yep love this tune and the "B" side to Didnt you know - BUT i either see her now in my mind or Will Smith dancing with an Alien lol

    Happy Birthday Patrice Rushen:)

  • Is this song from 1977 or 1982? Music Choice vs. Wikipedia.

  • 1982. Patrice won a Grammy for this song.

  • and she should have

  • awesome tune...!

  • Affectionately known as Baby-fingers......Patrice Rushen is the Queen of funk piano and r&b groove. Alisha Keys should strive to be just as dynamic a force in music as Patrice was , and still is today. Love you Patrice....................

  • I first heard this song in the movie 'Big' with Tom Hanks.

  • The boinking is outrageous and is probably the best in-the-pocket boinking I have EVER heard ! ! !

  • Some of the best electric bass I've ever heard - truly killer. Small wonder that Will Smith used if for the "Men in Black" video.

  • 100,000 views. About time. :)

  • I was born after funk was more prevelent but I have to say I really like it. The tunes are just that good.

  • WOOHOO love<3 this song forever....Was it is the simple things that made me so crazy aboutyou???...when it starts that beat at 2:50 Love that...

just kidding, love it! also liked george michaels sample

  • I can't believe this didn't make it to #1 back in '82

  • '82? Wasn't that when Jacko occupied the charts?

  • Jacko occupied the charts in '83.

  • I think it was just ahead of its time. I honestly think if it had come out a few years later, it would have easily hit #1.

  • fantastic song of the 80's i use to dance on this tube almost everyday!! makes me remind when i was young!

  • George Michael also sampled it, in fastlove. both good songs

  • INDEED

  • Will smith used this type of thing too :)

  • nice video

  • Sick beats!

  • Now this old school jam!

  • wow i cant believe she almost became my cousin cause my grandma almost married her uncle

  • Woah!

  • I LOVE this song! One of the nicest pieces of music to come out of the late 70s/early 80s.

  • This little pint-size powerhouse is extremely talented. Forget me Nots is one of my favorites. Sing Patrice

  • There's a song parody of this called "You don't know a damn thing" by "Weird Al" Yankovic.

  • I love this song, it was used in "Big" with Tom Hanks.

  • jus so you know, will smith SAMPLED this song.its not HIS song

  • YOU DON'T KNOW A DAMN THING!

  • You don't know a damn thing!

  • Great song! Sounds a lot like "Men in Black" (I know Will Smith took parts of this chorus) and kind of like Earth, Wind, and Fire's "September".

  • WOW ITS GREAT!!!

  • september 30 Patrice wil be 54 years young,Thanks for posting this 1982 hit.Luv this tune. Many have sampled this

  • Hey, can you tell me who else, apart from Will Smith, sampled this song?

  • George Michael

  • i luv dis song

  • This is amazing, 1981! It's a classic

  • great song...

  • Will ALWAYS be a classic.

  • This IS a nice song if you like soul, jazz, or R&B. Where is she now?

  • she sings jazz last i heard

  • Geez summer of 82,i was hittin the clubs bigtime, this song was big then and i almost set my parents house on fire that summer being drunk and stupid lol

  • I thank God I grew up in this era. Just to think that I would've missed out on true music; this music will never die. Twenty or so years later, it's still sounds as good as the day you heard it. Go'n Patrice!!!

  • I can remember this tune as disco was winding down. All they can do now is copy Her and Donna...etc...disco died the people got fat lazy and drunk and money hungry. She was a True Songwriter, Singer, Musician....not many like Her...most just sing don't write or Play...yep She Was Real....don't forget it!....Forget me Knots!...Great Post Tribute to One of the Queens!...if it were not for them i might of never got laid!...

  • Thats by Women of Coarse...we didn't sit on a computer we went out in search of Music and Luv...after working hrs as a captalistic slave Disco Music Was a Delight what a treat for our hard work!...Thanks Patrice! you gave me a reason to live a few more years!..

  • Jesus I stat it is a joke yet people still take it seriously.

  • Joseph maybe you should get a life!!!

Why are you listening to this song gay boy?

  • It's the song me and your mother get down to.

  • Sorry, Joseph that was wrong of me. It is a great song

  • erebody wanna bite will smith stuff

  • Will Smith bit this from Patrice.

  • I love this song so much...wow memories...lol.

  • good one gizzy!

  • That bass is pluckin'! Years ago the dance muci duo of La Bouche did their version, and although it's not the original, they did a respectable rendition.

  • Fond memories of a love lost .

Still out here Gill if your there x

  • here come the men in black

  • make ya neck work

    now scream

  • Awesome!

  • No will smith copied her ;)

  • Hey she copied Will Smith.

I AM KIDDING - GREAT SONG

  • As with all Will Smith cover music, the original lyrics play a part with his version. In Men In Black, when you get hit with "flash thing", you would lose your memory. No one could "help me to remember"

  • Wow back to the old disco days, great song, where are all the discos nowadys?

  • kerryT i forget you notx

  • dis is da cut! the nutts

    will smiths version? nice try

    i love that song

and no will smith version is not better

    he jocked the beat

    this version is better

  • hahahaha! spurschamps99030507's comment is so fuckin funny. "How could they use this without Will Smith's permission?" LMFAO!

  • I wonder if Susan Granger is out there listening. This song still reminds me of you, mon ami. Salamanca 1982. It was such fun knowing you.

  • MIB2

What memories for me and my Sista!

    Love you!

  • Gill ,

    Forget me not XXXXX

  • Holy shit! Men In Black DID rip this song off. I think that might've been intentional on Will Smith's part to make his song similar to this one.

  • ooo i had this song stuck in my head, had to get it out! my year 3 teacher made us listen to it whilst getting changed for P.E

    =P

  • I cant believe that yiddo even made that comment about Will Smith or he must be young naive little prick

  • Decades later and this song still makes me shake my thang ;-) I can never get enough of this song, thanks for posting this~~~

  • trip down memory lane! Love this song, its all fun and happy :)~ "...was it your charm or your passion?.."

  • man...the bassline of this is so funky~!!

  • because it was her song first

  • I was not mean to you. Now be quiet & quit calling names dumbass.

  • Well I didn't know OK?; Because I thought it was Men In Black at first. Thanks for telling me the fact this was first but stop calling names.

  • Simple rule of music: The version of the song that isn't hip hop is the one that came out first. :)

  • Haha pretty much

  • You don't know a damn thing!

  • takes ya back don't it we you to party hard

  • HERE COME THE MEN IN BLACK

  • Wow, the dancing we did to this song at 2002 in charlotte nc. Wonderful, wonderul evenings witht he greatest of music!

great little sax break and the riffs at the end? Dawnl sums it up very well. What can I say

  • man...the bassline of this is so funky~!!

  • i made a cover :] check it out

  • Patrice has a MUCH better voice than Janet. All Janet can do is hire good songwriters, producers and dance. And have occasional wardrobe malfunctions.

  • You know who you are ....PLEASE contact me - fond memories xx

  • You know who you are ....PLEASE contact me - fond memories xx

  • This song bring back good memories.

  • thank you thank you THANK YOU so much for not putting a stupid video to this. just plain and simple name of singer and name of song...that's what the people want and it didn't take away from this amazing song:)

  • True true, amazing comment. I bet you are an amazing girl too :)

  • You are so mean! She seems like a nice person. Adjust your attitude and come back when you feel happier!

  • Hey dude... Chill everything is cool. I know that girl, okay ^_^. She is a very nice person and I do feel happy. Wish you a nice weekend :)

  • Just listening again, thanks for being nice!

  • If think right this song was in the film, big.

  • It was... because Big is on right now, and I originally believed it was Men In Black at first , despite being a decade earlier ¬¬

  • Everyone on here has a excellent comment! Music today forgets how to be simple, danceable and most of all enjoyable to be around for a long time. Todays music might stay around for maybe a month or two and then next thing you know your asking what was the name of that group and the name of the song! Just sad!

  • lol funny but true

  • MEN IN BLACK......^_^....

  • you're right this was sampled for "Men in Black" but now you have a chance to hear the soulful classy original!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is C and I love this song. and don't worry it only seems my generation only listens to crappy music (and yes that is what is being promoted right now) but I am twenty and love the seventies, EIGHTIES, and nineties music. It's the best. By the way, this song was the basis for George Michaels' Fastlove song, my favorite song ever. Check it out. Anyway, I'm an aspiring artist and wish me luck trying my best to bring back some class to the radio and TV, considering I'm allowed to make decisions

  • i dunno why, but this is my favorite bass line of all time.

  • becuz u love fat arab cocks?

  • music today only wishes it could be this good...

  • whats sad is. music doesnt even have to be so dirty and disgusting like it is now. LOOK, THIS WAS ONLY ABOUT 20 YEARS AGO. The 80s weren't that long ago. People loved this music and not one curse word had to be used to make it a hit. This generation has been brainwashed to think a good hit means "cursing and talking about foul sinful things"

  • Yes it is sad. That is what the youth today want to hear.

  • I grew up in the 90's and grew up listening to this type of music and the rap music today.

I hate the music today. Women half naked in videos and men talking about guns and money. It makes me sick how children can see this. I wish music today was like this.

  • Those were the times when music was actually good. Now, most mainstream music is crap. The indie bands and singers are good.

  • Hot groove from back in the days.Awesome track!!!!!!!1

  • GREAT SONG!!!

  • good memories

  • this song is the shit always and forever it brings back so many memories.iam acat from bad newz va. this fucken song is everything and more

  • This song brings back so many memories. I was young and innocent and felt like the future was mine! She has so much talent and never got too much credit cuase she is a real star in my heart soul foever!

  • good song¡¡¡

  • my kids know this better as here come the men in black.. ..now they believe me xx

  • This is a classic!!!! I love this song! It brings me back! :)

  • TUNE TUNEEE !!!! :)

  • now girl, bring yo' booty over here and let's get down...

  • A great one.Thanks for posting it.

  • If some kid says how she stole this song from Will Smith, I'm going to whip your ass, lol. CLASSIC track.

  • lol ..dis song is da shit!!! classic indeed

  • the truth of the matter is that hip hop is nothing but stealing (they call it "sampling") the smooth soulful classic (and classy) sounds of old school "soul" music such as this great cut!!!!!!

  • Hate to hear your thoughts on covers.

  • Eh...I can't agree with your whole "stealing" slant. Not to start beef, but I'm SURE that Will Smith's label paid all the fees and royalties to Ms.Rushen. So as far as using this song goes, they "rented" it. A LOT of rappers now are clearing samples and paying the right people. I guess my problem with MIB and other songs that sample, are that a lot of them use CLASSIC tracks in some of the most cheesy ways possible. I hear "Forget Me Nots", I'm not thinking about busting aliens...

  • ya think? lol
