Susan Granger: are you out there. This was our song once upon a time in Salamanca 1982, Rojo y Negro disco. Do you remember? You know who this is. Peace be with you. Briano
I know San Francisco Fm Radio stations still run this song at night. But why is this song way forgotten all over the world but its beat still used in other places besides "Men In Black".
This sweet bass rhthym just kept me goin....when I was run in athletics....and the thru my hard times. She was my main lady...Stevie was always their.
Affectionately known as Baby-fingers......Patrice Rushen is the Queen of funk piano and r&b groove. Alisha Keys should strive to be just as dynamic a force in music as Patrice was , and still is today. Love you Patrice....................
some corny underground rapper from long beach named ''swoop g'' in a song called simpin aint the pimpin pt 1 its kind of hard to come by online but i have it lying around somewhere
Geez summer of 82,i was hittin the clubs bigtime, this song was big then and i almost set my parents house on fire that summer being drunk and stupid lol
I thank God I grew up in this era. Just to think that I would've missed out on true music; this music will never die. Twenty or so years later, it's still sounds as good as the day you heard it. Go'n Patrice!!!
I can remember this tune as disco was winding down. All they can do now is copy Her and Donna...etc...disco died the people got fat lazy and drunk and money hungry. She was a True Songwriter, Singer, Musician....not many like Her...most just sing don't write or Play...yep She Was Real....don't forget it!....Forget me Knots!...Great Post Tribute to One of the Queens!...if it were not for them i might of never got laid!...
Thats by Women of Coarse...we didn't sit on a computer we went out in search of Music and Luv...after working hrs as a captalistic slave Disco Music Was a Delight what a treat for our hard work!...Thanks Patrice! you gave me a reason to live a few more years!..
That bass is pluckin'! Years ago the dance muci duo of La Bouche did their version, and although it's not the original, they did a respectable rendition.
As with all Will Smith cover music, the original lyrics play a part with his version. In Men In Black, when you get hit with "flash thing", you would lose your memory. No one could "help me to remember"
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Patrice Rushen was never strong to me vocal wise, But her music was perfect, Just like Janet Jackson there not much vocally but there music is flawless.
Patrice has a MUCH better voice than Janet. All Janet can do is hire good songwriters, producers and dance. And have occasional wardrobe malfunctions.
thank you thank you THANK YOU so much for not putting a stupid video to this. just plain and simple name of singer and name of song...that's what the people want and it didn't take away from this amazing song:)
Everyone on here has a excellent comment! Music today forgets how to be simple, danceable and most of all enjoyable to be around for a long time. Todays music might stay around for maybe a month or two and then next thing you know your asking what was the name of that group and the name of the song! Just sad!
This is C and I love this song. and don't worry it only seems my generation only listens to crappy music (and yes that is what is being promoted right now) but I am twenty and love the seventies, EIGHTIES, and nineties music. It's the best. By the way, this song was the basis for George Michaels' Fastlove song, my favorite song ever. Check it out. Anyway, I'm an aspiring artist and wish me luck trying my best to bring back some class to the radio and TV, considering I'm allowed to make decisions
whats sad is. music doesnt even have to be so dirty and disgusting like it is now. LOOK, THIS WAS ONLY ABOUT 20 YEARS AGO. The 80s weren't that long ago. People loved this music and not one curse word had to be used to make it a hit. This generation has been brainwashed to think a good hit means "cursing and talking about foul sinful things"
I grew up in the 90's and grew up listening to this type of music and the rap music today.
I hate the music today. Women half naked in videos and men talking about guns and money. It makes me sick how children can see this. I wish music today was like this.
This song brings back so many memories. I was young and innocent and felt like the future was mine! She has so much talent and never got too much credit cuase she is a real star in my heart soul foever!
the truth of the matter is that hip hop is nothing but stealing (they call it "sampling") the smooth soulful classic (and classy) sounds of old school "soul" music such as this great cut!!!!!!
Eh...I can't agree with your whole "stealing" slant. Not to start beef, but I'm SURE that Will Smith's label paid all the fees and royalties to Ms.Rushen. So as far as using this song goes, they "rented" it. A LOT of rappers now are clearing samples and paying the right people. I guess my problem with MIB and other songs that sample, are that a lot of them use CLASSIC tracks in some of the most cheesy ways possible. I hear "Forget Me Nots", I'm not thinking about busting aliens...
