  • pettis, ben,hd berry disliked this haha

  • Beat henderson? You r smoking some good shit!

  • For sure bro. I just hope it happens soon and that its a good fight.

  • Gil would maul edgar to big to strong, you'll see when ben henderson smahses edgar, Then we need Melendez vs Henderson

  • melendez is the best light wieght in the world.. no 1 good job gilbert .. you smash both .. people need to go see your fight with clay guida and they know who is the no 1 ..

  • @007alagah

Beating Clay Guida doesn't make you no. 1 Ben Henderson would smash this guy.

  • @HerpatitisC i remember both of them did fight guida melendez was much more better and also he has gone five round with him

  • @007alagah

That was in the past. He fought Melendez six years ago. I'm sure Guida has learned from his mistakes by then and besides its not like beating Guida determines who is the best. Guida doesn't have the best track record out there and Melendez has lost to Thomson, Ishida, and a competitive fight with Kawajiri. He wouldn't last in the UFC. Look how Masvidal opened him up. I'm pretty sure you just limit yourself to watching JMMA fighters.

  • @007alagah much more better?? lmao

  • Nate Diaz is on his way in to the top 5 LW.

  • 1. BJ PENN - - - we believe he won 1st fight against FRANKIE EDGAR (DOMINANT UFC CHAMP)

    2. BEN HENDRSON - - - - WEC CHAMP & VERY DOMINANT

    3. GRAY MAYNARD -- won 2 of the 3 EDGAR fights, rnd1. of 2nd fight was a Clear 10-8 for Maynard

    4. NATE DIAZ - - -

    5. FRANKIE EDGAR - - -

  • @MMAOPEN who the fuck is we

  • @MMAOPEN Your a dumbass... xD

  • @MMAOPEN you dont have a clue do you?

  • Gil #1

    ben henderson #2

noone comes close to those 2

  • @Gazzaldooo Edgar > Both of them......

  • @Gazzaldooo Personally, I like Gil a lot. For that reason alone, I wouldn't want to see him fight Ben. Ben's a beast and has the perfect style to match up with Gil. Gil has had the size and strength advantage in every fight I've seen of his, which would not be the case against Ben. You have to make it to the UFC to be considered among the best. And even if you do make it, you have to prove it among the "best of the best".

  • @luvthalifeulive Agreed about Ben possibly being stronger than Gil but Gil has better boxing and is the more seasoned fighter. Anthony Pettis gave Ben problems in the standup, Gil would pick Ben apart on the feet. We'll have to wait and see how much Ben has progressed in his standup, if it's anything like his fight with Pettis, Miller, or Guida, he would get picked apart by the more technical Melendez. Bendo is my boy but I can see Edgar outboxing him.

  • Those fighters weren't that much bigger than Nate Diaz. Nate is around 6ft so 155lbs is very light weight. He's a fighter not a cyclist. Nate and Nick both can afford to put on weight and fight Anderson Silva...

  • baaaaahhaaaaa thats why ur in strikeforce......he says he respects hendo and thinks hes gunna be a great champ and that yet PETTIS beat him in style too. so the only thing thats gunna get smashed is dudes face by pettis's foot!!!!!

  • Melendez go in the UFC and fight the real LWs.Your boy Shields thought he could make the transition but look what's happened to him. List of guys that can beat Melendez:

    1. Edgar

    2. Maynard

    3. Henderson

    4. Pettis

    5. Guida <-- split decisioned when Guida was just plain reckless

    6. Cerrone

    7. Maybe even Siver and Florian would give you a run for your money

    8. If BJ Penn drops back as well

Strikeforce is nothing but UFC's Challenger card

  • @Evilshadow651 yeah right the only guys i see beating melendes is nate diaz anthanoy pettis thats it you realy made me laugh when you put gray maynard and frankie edgar come on dude get real

  • @brownjack48 hahahahaahahaha u really think melendez can beat edgar and maynard, but not diaz or pettis? c'mon

  • @brownjack48 WTF? Are you serious? Diaz? That dude is fucking overrated. Had to move down to LW cuz he got bullied around in WW.

Melendez's stand up was like playing a broken record. It was all the same shit. He's beaten a bunch of free lancing Japanese stars and a former street fighter and you think he's got a shot against the big league boys? Why do you think he's so tenative to go to the UFC? Doesn't wanna end up like his boy Shields...

  • @Evilshadow651 Of course Nate got "bullied" at WW, that's not his natural weight class and he only lost to two fighters in that weight class, who were BIG AS FUCK in comparison to him.........Oh yeah, he just beat "The cowboy".

  • @Evilshadow651 Cerrone just got his ass whipped by Gilbert's training buddy Nate. Gilbert is also better than Nate by the way. You don't know what you're talking bout buddy. Edgar has good boxing but Gilbert spars with Shawn Porter, and undefeated up and coming boxer who competitive with Manny Pacquiao in sparring session. Gilbert would beat Edgar, only reason Gilbert isn't in the UFC yet is he's sitting back for his boy Nate Diaz who's making a run at the title.

  • @xBlasian86x He's not in the UFC because the UFC decided to keep him in Strikeforce. He has no say. If you ever listen to Gilbert speak about his future in MMA, he is relentlessly pursuing the #1 spot and is not the type to ever "sit back" and wait for anyone else to make their run.

  • @xBlasian86x Edgar's boxing is significantly better than Gil's. I'd say Gil has the advantage in his punching power, but Edgar's speed and footwork is a lot better. If you know boxing then you know that the most important thing for a boxer to develop is good footwork.

  • @luvthalifeulive Sorry but Edgar's boxing is not as good as Gil's. Edgar got caught by Maynard in both fights early & was almost finished in both. If Maynard didn't have bad cardio, he might have finished Edgar. Edgar has speed & footwork, I'll give you that, but you know what beats both speed and footwork? Timing, which Melendez has because he's better technically. Edgar spars with Eddie Alvarez but Gilbert spars with actual pro boxers who are better boxers than Edgar & Eddie.

  • @luvthalifeulive Edgar's boxing is not that great, his quickness and his cardio make it seem that way. But the fact that he got caught by Maynard who always seems to be looking for one punch tells me when faced with someone who can actually box and has cardio, he will be tagged often. Gilbert wouldn't let Edgar get in and out without taking some in return. He would also cut off Edgar and make him fight. He won't fade like Penn or Maynard because he has very good cardio as well.

  • @xBlasian86x Maynard throws wild hooks and uppercuts and only had success early in the fights with Edgar because of his unpredictable/unorthodox attack. A good boxer always runs the risk of being tagged by someone like Maynard. When you train for technique (especially in boxing/kickboxing) you aren't used to seeing or defending the angles or types of attacks that someone who strikes with little or no technique and comes at you with a wild/reckless approach.

  • @xBlasian86x Credit Frankie's toughness and poise for weathering Maynard's attack, frustrating him in rounds 3-5, and defeating him with his footwork and technique.

Gil trains with pro boxers?? I don't know about that. Who???

It wasn't evident in the Masvidal fight. He may have got the decision win, but he clearly was outboxed in the punching exchanges. The evidence was all over his face.

  • @luvthalifeulive Gil often spar with Shawn Porter and Shawn Porter spars with Manny and gives him problems in their sessions. Also, Masvidal is very underrated and has some of the best boxing in the game. He would outbox Frankie as well. He dominated KJ and outboxed Daley at WW, he got robbed in that one. Masvidal can box, it's BJJ and wrestling that is his weakness. His wrestling is improved but not quite as good as the top guys, he can stuff takedowns now though.

  • @xBlasian86x Anyone who saw Gil post fight can't deny the fact that he looked beat up. Masvidal on the other hand, looked pretty much the same way he did going in. Regardless, I'm a fan of anyone who has the heart + courage to do what they do, and I've always been a fan of Gil. Its hardly about who is the "better" fighter. I know its cliche but its true when they say "styles make fights".

  • @luvthalifeulive That is right, styles do make fights. Nate Diaz, Jorge Masvidal, and Gilbert Melendez are very tough fights for Frankie. I like Bendo matches up with Edgar as far as his wrestling and cardio but I hope he's working a lot on his standup for this one. I'm hope Bendo will be ready, i'm rooting for him.

  • He won the fight but His face looks lik a catchers mitt compared to jorge. Gill's good but get a couple of more fights before he face' top top fighters. Check his competition. please before you nut huggers flip

  • Overconfident sounds like a low key cheal sonnen and pettis would back flip kick your ass and you would get KO

  • @lindseyv08 r u kidding pettis would get destroyed by melendez

  • Gil 2012 UFC LW champ

  • Pettis would likely fuck ur face up more than jorge did. And ben henderson would smash you

  • Gil will win against any of the UFC superstars, the man is a beast.

  • it's BS that UFC is taking back the offer and Gilbert has to stay with Strikeforce. Dana White is probably scared that Melendez will run through all his bread winners

  • @coolerow With Strikeforce staying they have to keep him, plus I'm sure he probably doesn't care that he gets paid loads of cash to beat up second rate fighters to make himself look good.

  • If Masvidal can do that to Melendez face, what does he think Edgar or Penn would do? LOL

  • @bulldogger masvidal has better boxing than edgar and penn

  • Ill suck this guys dick

  • Gilbert is right, beating jorge is a big win. I was rooting for jorge this fight, but he'll come back strong. But, Melendez definitely looked good tonight, would love to see him in the ufc, and evantually jorge as well.

  • i like gilbert but dude dnt fukin invite the first class to lower class promotion, and cerrone wud smash you

  • @mercado215 you are lower than lower class.

  • @silverado669 how am i lower than lower class dude? im a succesfull tattoo artist i go to alot of ufc events that you can not afford

  • @mercado215 you're a wannabe. Go to bed child.

  • Why's everyone going after AP?

  • He definitely up there
