  • the Drum Major at 0:25 is my old CSM. MWO Rennie, looking as proud as ever.

  • I love Liberty :] Graduating Class of Liberty High School 2010. Go hurricanes.

  • Those girls are clever to keep the pom poms balanced on their feet !

  • I really like this band, the only things I would wish to see changed is work more on their horn angles, they have a few close ups and some people and their horns are sagging around 15 degress below the horizon, and that they change to a roll step. It'll make them sound so much better. Other than that, I wish I was one of them! Grenadier Marching Band for life!

  • Yea Austin keep your trumpet higher in 0:32

  • cool band! though they look like british royal guards. i remember them staying at the hotel i work at, cool people.

  • would you mind to look for PHILIPPINE BAND... try to search BANDA KABATAAN 77... ahmmm its like a military band but the members were only HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS...

  • best band i saw at the rose parade

  • Calling a Bearskin hilariously dumb, is in itself, hilariously dumb.

It's traditional Uniform earned by the foot Guards (Note, how I didn't say Royal) and has since been worn as a reminder of that tradition.

You can only get so far in trying to recreate a proper Foot Guard band, and Liberty High have probably come the closest to it, so big props to them. Keep up the good work.

Incidently, wanker isn't that offensive, it's relatively inoffensive, like jackass or dumass.

  • I bashed on the bearskin hats so that hopefully you would see how... potentially offensive calling contrabass bugles and marching horns "weird-looking" can be.Whether or not you see my opinion as rude is your problem not mine.

I never said anything about hating the UK, so don't but words in my mouth. I don't exactly respect the state your current country is in, neither do I respect the state my own country is in, being the US.

And please quote for me what I said was "nasty" and "childish"

  • No, I'm not 12 years old, and I don't see how exactly I've been rude ( the wanker comment was to see if it was actually an offensive word to brits, sorry I had just heard that it was offensive and wanted to see if it really was) I never said that I like the sound or look of sousaphones, I said marching tubas.

I can compare the two because we were talking about looks. It seems that you are the one that has a problem with opinions.

  • HAHAHA. Wow. This is absolutely embarrassing. First of all the girls should be wearing their hair in a bun with hair nets. Secondly. The plume is on the wrong side of the bear skin. Thirdly, what are those bears with beaks on them. And lastly. why do people have ranks on them ranging from Corporal to Master Warrant Officer. This is an embarrassment to the British traditions. Pom Pom's do not belong on shoes. For Shame!

  • On your second point, it depends what regiment of Foot Guards you belong to. I assume they're trying to masquerade as Coldstreamers, which would mean red plume on the right side of the bearskin.

Grenadiers have their white plumage on the left side, Scots have no plumage, Irish blue plumage on the right and Welsh white-green-white on the left.

  • On your third point, if you're talking about the 'fake' bearskins with the visors, the band is still in the midst of improving its 'generation' uniforms.

I believe it was only until recently when the band acquired authentic uniforms and bearskins, so there's still a mix and match between the old and new generation of uniforms.

  • Finally, on your last point.

The band could very well have a simplified command hierarchy of an actual British Guards band.

But, bad order and loose fitting uniforms are the least of my worries.

Quite frankly, having 200 teenage Americans in British uniforms, masquerading as Britain's finest musicians and soldiers, is just as big of a joke.

  • Also, I would like to point out that the Guards would never have trumpets or sousaphones in their bands, or any of the weird-looking and over-sized instruments that most American bands are so keen having.

  • A little lesson for you all - the Liberty High School Grenadier Band emulates the Coldstream Guards band and has been embraced by it's directors and musicians alike. The bands have performed with each other several times and I was with them when we played Royal Albert Hall in 1996, and what an experience it was. You can ask the sold out audience if you don't believe me.

  • In addition, the band uniforms contain several authentic parts that have been imported directly from the UK, such as the tunic buttons and bearskins. Because the majority of the items are purchased with fundraising monies and donations, the adoption of "real" bearskins is a project many years running. Comment 2/3

  • Oh yeah, also, if you look closely at this parade footage there are several retired members of the Coldstream Guards Band marching along. And they were thrilled to do it!!!

  • Perhaps you only have negative comments because the most you can do is post videos of the bands?

  • You mean such as marching baritones, marching euphoniums and and marching tubas that contribute to make DCI the, debatedly, most wealthy and, definitely, most watched band organization in the world? Ya, I'll take my "weird-looking" and "over-sized" instruments, and DCI, and you can have your british bands... wanker...

  • It's just that I really dislike the looks of the sousaphone and the contrabass bugle.

  • ya, but they still produce an awesome sound. I personally think the hats worn by the british royal guards and by british bands look hilariously dumb and over the top.

  • What are you like 12 years old? Can't you take opinions without nasty?

How can you compare sousaphones/contrabass bugles to the bearskin cap?

The bearskin cap has a history of being a functional headgear, it confused enemy lancers who would hit the bearskin instead of the head. The curb chain also protected the wearer from sabre slashes aimed at the face.

It's fine if you hate the UK in general, but saying nasty things in reply to my opinions is just childish.

  • yeah, but the tubas need to be in the back. no one can see over them and it just looks good with the huge tubas in the back.

  • the arrangement of the insterments is wierd. saxes flutes and claranets in the back??!! thats strange

  • Not really. Our band did that. We put brass instruments in the front to give the band more "edge" walking down the parade route. Besides, Brass Players deserve to be in the front. (:

  • im not sideing with the woodwinds. i play sax but, i also play trumpet (for 6 years but i havent played at school for 2).

  • Good ol' LIberty. I went to Parkland, and always looked forward to their marching band when we played the Hurricanes.

  • quit watching you tube and learn how to spell fat boy

  • dude. these people go to england every 4 years to perform WITH the coldstream guards, not to imitate them.

  • quit embarrassing yourself!

  • best band i saw at the rose parade

  • Considering that the Queen's Coldstream Guard assisted the band in their uniform design, I'd say they're pretty authentic. As for sound, this wasn't recorded in a studio but rather a street.

  • yes you are right about one thing...not all members in the band can have REAL bearskins because

    1. they aren't made in the USA and

    2. they cost a lot of $

in addition, the piece played in the TV section was over 7 minutes long and was all memorized in less then a month

  • I was a member of this band and the uniforms are authentic...the reason the band doesn't have ALL real bearskin hats is because they are too expensive to get for all 250 band members. Liberty Grenadiers are also the only band in the USA to ever perform joint concerts with Her Majesty;s Coldstream Guard Band!!!...don't hate when you don't know your facts fatboyjonny89!

  • y the hell are they wearing british army gaurds uniforms! it shouldnt be allowed!

  • not only is it allowed, this band actually joins ranks with Her Majesty's Band of the Coldstream Guards every 4 years or so, they are authentic military issue uniforms

  • I play the sax in the band....it was one of the coolest things i've ever done

  • I didn't like the slow version of Rule Brittania. Clark '74

  • Great job LHSGB. (Alumni 1974.) The tradition continues.

  • who marked as spam? hes in the band as well as me

  • This band is excellent, Congratulations Liberty High School Grenadier Band of Bethlehem, PA

  • thanks, it means a lot to all of us.

  • nice

  • first

  • no one fucking cares u
