I think it was the bass player, he made his own black/thrash band named Crest of Darkness after Conception.

A few years ago I could have looked that up in the booklet but I've lost the album, and can't find it anywhere (or only as japanes imports with insane prices).

hmmm... but dimebag darrel knew how to play guitar. Listen to that part of it and it makes a lot of sense. I'm sure michael romeo and john petrucci likes or at least respects pantera. Hell, Dream Theater played Cemetary Gates live
