See the video Social Contract Defined and upheld. Health Care is a right which is why every other developed nation in the world has some form of non profit universal primary care.
I love when you Cons get smacked down when your ideas are put to the test in the real world and they fail. Like how there is no such thing as a "Free Market" solution for health care and there never will be.
@o5iiawah It was the banks that ruined the PIGS countries, not all of the Scandanavian countries are resoruce rich and Germany is doing very well now. They are the manufacturing powerhouse of the world because their Conservative leader Angel Merkel listened to the MIT school not the Chicago school.
Wilkow is making the dumbest strawman argument for health care. Of course you can't get car insurance for a wrecked care the same way you can't get health insurace for dead people. That is why no other country uses our failed model
Come on Thom Hartmans show Wilkow he will bury your arguments.
@MsZeitgeist85 haha, and then Hartman can come onto Peter Schiff's show to expose Hartmans ridiculous Keynesian economic principles and how they have become an utter failure under Bush and Obama. Hartman is a liberal hippie throw back who only knows how to create class warfare and blame all the problems on the "free market". 90% of his show is him trying to equate capitalism with corporatism and crying about the disparity of wealth...I can ony take 5 minutes of that guy at a time.
@tonyg0123 Go watch the video of the Kensyan Economist Ha Joon Chang make a fool of Peter Schiff when they debated. Do it right now enter: Peter Schiff vs Ha Joon Chang.
Peter Schiff is not an economist he just plays one on TV. He is a journalist.
There is no such thing as a " Free Market" Solution for health care and there never will be.
@MsZeitgeist85 FAIL... i've seen this video before, the debate lasts all of 1minute. And, factually Schiff's numbers on the GDP were right on target...it was Chang who was well off the mark. Look it up. Watch a debate that lasts an hour and a half "Peter Schiff debates David Epstein of Columbia University"...Schiff makes a fool of this clown/professor at such a prestegious college. "Peter Schiff is a journalist"? Ha! Check your facts buddy. Peter is actually the CEO of EuroPac Capital.
@MsZeitgeist85 and, can you please tell me where in Article 1 Section 8 of the U.S. Constitution it says health care is a right granted by the federal government? Let me know when you find it and where you found it because i have the constitution right in front of me. Thanks...once you point that out to me, then we can have a reasonable debate on this issue.
@tonyg0123 See the General Welfare clause of the constitution. Washington used this to provide care for poor people in his time. Stop using this stupid analogy that Wilkow uses this is not a 1 way street if somehting happens to 1 person everyone uses there tax pool to pay for it and it works.
The problem is the insurance companys that make money by not giving care. This is somehting that doesn't exist in other countrys that have a better health care system than us.
@MsZeitgeist85 I hope you realize it was the insurance companies who wrote the 2000+ page Obamacare. The same insurance companies u point your finger at. In the preamble, it's "Promote the General Welfare"....not "provide"..in Article 1 they are describing national defense. Follow the logic with me: people in the 18th century also got sick and had to see a doctor. With your bias aside, do you not think government provided healthcare would have been in the constitution if they meant for it???
@MsZeitgeist85 If u are assuming "gereral welfare" (in the Preamble) is interpreted as a person's rights to free healthcare, then why don't u argue for free housing, free food, free clothing, free school, etc? How is that not "general welfare" in your interpretation? In that case, you mine as well disregard the rest of the Constitution if that is what you think "welfare" meant. No, the problem with out healthcare system is that govt. runs already 50% of it...the free market hardly exists.
@tonyg0123 I never said Free Health Care because taxes pay for a Single Payer system so it isn't free. FOr you to say that this will lead to all that other stuff being free is a falacious slippery slope. Our health care is 45% Goverment funded not 50%. We alredy have goverment funded health care like Tri Care the VA, and Meidcare and that works. For profit primary care doesn't exist outside the USA because it doesn't work and never will.
@tonyg0123 My main point is adressing Wilkows fallacy riddled argument for health care. I actually agree with him that the goverment should not subsidize insurance companys but he is also aginst SIngle Payer. Single Payer is the best way to fix this problem which shows his side has no solution at all except for a bunch of easy to refute "Free Market" talking poings, let insurance companys sell accrost state lines etc....All things that would make health care worse not better.
@MsZeitgeist85 HEALTH INSURANCE DOES NOT = HEALTH CARE. The USA has the best HEALTH CARE IN THE USA. You don't have the money they will still help you they will not turn you away more matter what the damned media says. You have cancer there are some many chruchs, charity groups, that will help you out with payment. Hell you have hospitals that will give you Treatment even if you don't have insurance. So stop lieing.
@Epica124 If you have deep pockets the USA has good health care. If not you are one of the millions that have cancer in the USA that fall throught the cracks you are shit out of luck.
The USA is ranked 40th in the world for a reason. Stop bullshitting you have lost.
@MsZeitgeist85 the only reason why we are required to have car insurance is because when you step into a vehicle you put others at risk! How stupid do you liberals get? We are not required by law to have collision or comprehensive to protect us against damage to our vehicles. We are required to have insurance in case we damage someone else's property or injure them! When you make unhealthy decisions with your life the only person you endanger is your own health not the health of to others.
@MsZeitgeist85 Please point to the social contract. Then let me know where I signed up for this. A contract has a mutual benefit and obligates two parties to terms. Please send a link so I can print it out, sign it and send it to you so you have an actual copy. Thanks
@TheFloridapatriot See the video by billburns2 Social Contract Defined and upheld which was made to refute Stefan Molyneux's Social Contract Defined and Destroyed.
Billburns is from the UK a country that has a real health care system so many yanks here might not understand this as well.
@MsZeitgeist85 where in the constitution does it say that one person should be in debt to another person? Why should only 54% of Americans pay taxes will the other 46% don't pay any and then get to reap the benefits that they will never pay for!!
So where in the constituion is this social contract you talk about?
@MsZeitgeist85 "the general welfare" is in regards to the outlined enumerated powers. If the general welfare meant the government could do anything in your interest there would be no need to define the 18 in the article. Or further more if general welfare meant the government could do anything to my benefit that they see fit there would be no need for amendments 1-10 for examples.
@MsZeitgeist85 There is no section A of article 1. The "general welfare" clause makes no sense. It is not a clause at all. It simply states that the congress can do what is in the best interest of the people as outlined in the enumerated powers. To say "general welfare" in the terms of providing one citizen with a service free is not lawful.
@TheFloridapatriot SORRY but that argument doesn't work ether because your side and the AMA is aginst any National Version of a Bismark Model of health care.
@TheFloridapatriot If you are aginst getting rid of for profit insurance for primary care and having collective bargining with the health care providers and drug companys you are for the status quo in health care. Period. END OF ARGUMENT.
If you did your homework on this you would know that if America adopted Canada's health care system of Medicare for all with collective bargining it would actually cost less than what we are paying now and cover everyone.
@MsZeitgeist85 That is OK. You do not have to back up your facts about a social contact. You do not have to provide a lawful answer to your desires being more important than my rights. Just get upset and say I do not want health care. That is what communist and leftist do best. They have the same system in Cuba and they ration it there as well. Do not bother with a reply as I am sure that you again will not do your homework or read the US Constitution before you make statements like you have.
@TheFloridapatriot Cuba's model is the Beverage Model that the UK uses it is Nationalized health care which many other countrys use. Cuba is not SIngle Payer. Single Payer is Goverment insurance where the doctors work privately.
Cuba's System is not the same as Canada you are clueless on health care and too many people that think like you is why we have the worst health care system of all OECD nations.
@MsZeitgeist85 Your interpretation of the constitution is horribly flawed. The term "general welfare" is not carte blanche for the government to do whatever they please, else there would be no other language in the document. If you read Article 1, section 8 it is clear that in order to promote the general welfare, the Federal government shall do the following:
FYI I am not bound by a "social contract" I am bound by the US constitution and the laws of the state of PA
@o5iiawah Medicare was passed under this proving the legality of it in the constitution. It was the Gereral Welfare Clause. SIngle Payer is just Medicare for all with the Payer having collective bargining rights with the drug companys and the providers.
If you say this is unconstitutional then you are saying Medicare is unconstitutional.
@MsZeitgeist85 Medicare is only for the elderly and Thus is not for the "general welfare" but the welfare of a group of people. US versus Butler was an attempted agriculture spending program under the general welfare clause but it was ruled that congressional authority over agriculture is not an enumerated power of government.
Again, by your logic the federal government can do anything it wants under the "general welfare" clause. Liberals already worm enough crap in via the commerce clause.
@MsZeitgeist85 The General welfare clause was never intended to be a broad issuance of authority yet government continues to operate under the Hamiltonian interpretation. Why even have a constitution if you are going to have a "general welfare" statement?
@o5iiawah This is also like the laughbly stupid argument Wilkow makes where he says " How am I in debt to you, why should I pay for your health care" where he tries to frame the argument like it is a 1 way street like he doesn't want people to know a Single Payer System it would be EVERYONE'S MONEY not just his.
He might as well be arguing why should I be paying for roads and bridges with my tax dollars that I am never going to drive on.
@MsZeitgeist85 The problem is eventually you run out of other people's money. Europe is a shining example of this - and Who says a banker is getting in the way of you and your doctor? An insurance company is there to make money - not take care of you. People think every scratch, bump, bruise and checkup should be paid for by the insurance company and that is a fallacy. Healthcare is the labor of another individual. To argue that you are entitled to it is the basis of slavery.
@o5iiawah BULLSHIT. What about Scandanavian countries that all have Nationalized Health Care and are highly Unionized they are thriving right now and are very good for buisnesses and have a trade surplus.
They are there to make money not give you care and that is the problem and that is why they should be illegal like they are in every other developed country except the USA.
Why do you want insurance companys killing people for money?
@MsZeitgeist85 It used to be all of Europe that was the economic darling for the US progressive until the PIIGS countries went broke. Now, you can only claim scandanavia as the only place in the world where socialism is working yet those countries have massive resource reserves that the state controls. The same policies were in place in Portugal, Spain and Greece those countries now need massive bailouts.
@o5iiawah Have you ever stopped to think why the USA has the worst health care system in the developed world? Because we are the only country that allows for profit health insurance for primary care and we allow providers and drug companys to charge what ever they want.
It's time for the right to stop stubbornly clingiing to this "Free Market" Dogma and admit that a "Free Market" is not workable for health care.
@SeaWolfe59 The USA has the worst health care system in the developed world. We spend more than any other country and the others consistantly outpreform the US in every area. The World Health Organization from 2000 has the US 37th and the UN Study from 2008 had the US 43rd. The USA has some minor restrictions on for profit insurance companys. The only other country that didn't was Switzerland pre-1994. There is no such thing as a "Free Market" solution and there never will be.
@o5iiawah You say "People think every scratch, bump, bruise and checkup should be paid for by the insurance company and that is a fallacy. Healthcare is the labor of another individual" That is not the way it works in countrys like Canada and the UK. They have non profit primary care and the payer collectivly bargins with the providers.
Doctors in Canada and the UK are not slaves ones in the US are because a banker says you can't treat this person because they cost us too much.
Then, in order for everyone to enjoy freedom of choice, why not set up health care non-profit organizations in the US and let people choose to join those groups? Why force your way on other people that dont want it?
@SeaWolfe59 If you are talking about a Bismark Model like Germany and Singapore have that would work too.
A Single Payer System is just the payer. They collectivly bargen with providers and companys the same way a non-profit Bismark System would. You choose your own doctor everyone is covered and the collective bargining saves the money which is passed onto the tax payers.
Single Payer gives you freedom of choice you choose your doctors and you are covered for everything.
@MsZeitgeist85 And where do the people in the UK and Canada go when they decide to exercise a choice in their healthcare? Thats right, they go to the USA. Those who have choice, get their healthcare here.
@o5iiawah Try agains speedy. For every rich Canadian or Brit that comes here for health care there are about 100 Americans that go to Canada and the UK for health care.
Google: Phantoms in the Snow the Myth of Candians traveling to the US for health care. This was conducted by the Ministry of Health and it is a peer reviewed report.
Me too! LOL, I was at a car stereo shop and Wilkow was on for the hour I was there. It cost me another 2 hours, $ 500 and a years subscription to Sirius, but it was worth every penny. What a dude!
I could listen to this dude all day. I love how he can say that everything he says is right, because it's true. Libs have absolutely no argument against this dood
I love how libs are always smug know-it-alls until they're faced with tough, logical questions. Then they're shown as the stammering retards they actually are.
Wow, this was an absolute air-tight beat down(logically speaking). I've always liked Wilkow, but this just made me respect him so much more. The caller had nothing... nothing at all to come back with.
Andrew always owns liberals, because his arguments are based in facts, logic, and tbacked by the actual words of the US Constitution. I've yet to hear a liberal break his arguments.
wow the caller should of quit before he got started,he seemed confused and thought he could go off on his little lib tyraid as they do but he was told.ha ha ha ha ha ha
andrew is awesome. i cant believe that idiot caller lives in NC with me, these liberals are an embarrassment to society. we need more constitutionalists like andrew, rush, hannity, levin, beck, and rusty humphries.
liberals cant fight on the facts, so they attack, attack, attack. they label conservatives as racists, or fear mongers. they cry about how mean the conservative are, and how what they say is dangerous. while the tea parties are non-violent, non-aggressive. while liberals, radicals, revolutionaries, marxist, and those seeking social justice are the ones throwing bottles at the police, and bricks at windows, setting trash cans on fire. so who is dangerous!
Both parties would not make the transaction if it did not benefit them both. Insurance companies do not provide health care, the provide capital (money). You are betting against a future event when you buy health insurance.
GenYprogressive. Profit is earning money from an exchange of goods and services between 2 or more parties. In a free market economy two people or a person and company enter into an agreement to trade money for a product or service. The consumer makes the conscious decision to pay money to a company, knowing the company will profit from their labor to provide this to the consumer. Both the consumer and company get something they both want, the person gets the product, the company gets the money.
Wilkow's logic is that for-profit insurance could not compete with a public option because a public option doesn't have to make a profit to survive. His logic is admitting that for-profit insurance has been a miserable failure.
SELF PWNAGE.
Take away the call screeners and lets see how good this pussy does.
Could you please explain how the insurance companies having to make a profit to survive equates to failure on the insurance companies part? Please tell me and the rest of America why making a profit means failure. Help us understand this point of view has grown to the point that profits are evil and going bankrupt is a virtue. Please
@Mark27284 It does not equate to failure on there part but failure on there costomers part because to survive they have to deny coverage to there costomers. This is not like other for-profit companys because to survive they have to essentially hurt and kill people to make a profit. It is not that profits are evil just in a few exceptions.
For profit health insurance companys are banned in other countrys for a reason.
@genYprogressive . listen up. ready for some knowlage. " when the people fear the goverment, there is tyranny, when the goverment fears the people you have liberty."
Thomas Jefferson
we are the ones in charge. so pop the goverment tit out of your mouth and take responsiblity for your self.
@TheSkymech52 That Jefferson quote is not relevent. Lets look at what you gave us. When you cons were in power you gave us Medicare Part D that wastes 300-350 billion a year. Just because the Gov blows when you are in charge of it doesn't mean it always does. Tell me are you going to defend the bloodsucking insurance companys over a Single-Payer System that costs less and covers everbody?
I listen to Andrew almost everyday and I really wish a liberal that isn't a complete moron would call and debate him sometime. I guess that rules out Obama.
See the video Social Contract Defined and upheld. Health Care is a right which is why every other developed nation in the world has some form of non profit universal primary care.

MsZeitgeist85 1 month ago
@MsZeitgeist85 The problem is eventually you run out of other people's money. Europe is a shining example of this - and Who says a banker is getting in the way of you and your doctor? An insurance company is there to make money - not take care of you. People think every scratch, bump, bruise and checkup should be paid for by the insurance company and that is a fallacy. Healthcare is the labor of another individual. To argue that you are entitled to it is the basis of slavery.
o5iiawah 1 month ago
@o5iiawah BULLSHIT. What about Scandanavian countries that all have Nationalized Health Care and are highly Unionized they are thriving right now and are very good for buisnesses and have a trade surplus.
They are there to make money not give you care and that is the problem and that is why they should be illegal like they are in every other developed country except the USA.
Why do you want insurance companys killing people for money?
MsZeitgeist85 1 month ago

MsZeitgeist85 1 month ago
@MsZeitgeist85
The worst health care system in the world? Where do you get that? And you think health care is a completely free market system in the US? Really?
SeaWolfe59 1 month ago
@SeaWolfe59 The USA has the worst health care system in the developed world. We spend more than any other country and the others consistantly outpreform the US in every area. The World Health Organization from 2000 has the US 37th and the UN Study from 2008 had the US 43rd. The USA has some minor restrictions on for profit insurance companys. The only other country that didn't was Switzerland pre-1994. There is no such thing as a "Free Market" solution and there never will be.
MsZeitgeist85 1 month ago
@o5iiawah You say "People think every scratch, bump, bruise and checkup should be paid for by the insurance company and that is a fallacy. Healthcare is the labor of another individual" That is not the way it works in countrys like Canada and the UK. They have non profit primary care and the payer collectivly bargins with the providers.
Doctors in Canada and the UK are not slaves ones in the US are because a banker says you can't treat this person because they cost us too much.
MsZeitgeist85 1 month ago
@MsZeitgeist85
Then, in order for everyone to enjoy freedom of choice, why not set up health care non-profit organizations in the US and let people choose to join those groups? Why force your way on other people that dont want it?
SeaWolfe59 1 month ago
@SeaWolfe59 If you are talking about a Bismark Model like Germany and Singapore have that would work too.
A Single Payer System is just the payer. They collectivly bargen with providers and companys the same way a non-profit Bismark System would. You choose your own doctor everyone is covered and the collective bargining saves the money which is passed onto the tax payers.
Single Payer gives you freedom of choice you choose your doctors and you are covered for everything.
MsZeitgeist85 1 month ago
@MsZeitgeist85 And where do the people in the UK and Canada go when they decide to exercise a choice in their healthcare? Thats right, they go to the USA. Those who have choice, get their healthcare here.

@o5iiawah Try agains speedy. For every rich Canadian or Brit that comes here for health care there are about 100 Americans that go to Canada and the UK for health care.
Google: Phantoms in the Snow the Myth of Candians traveling to the US for health care. This was conducted by the Ministry of Health and it is a peer reviewed report.

liberals cant fight on the facts, so they attack, attack, attack. they label conservatives as racists, or fear mongers. they cry about how mean the conservative are, and how what they say is dangerous. while the tea parties are non-violent, non-aggressive. while liberals, radicals, revolutionaries, marxist, and those seeking social justice are the ones throwing bottles at the police, and bricks at windows, setting trash cans on fire. so who is dangerous!

Both parties would not make the transaction if it did not benefit them both. Insurance companies do not provide health care, the provide capital (money). You are betting against a future event when you buy health insurance.
floridajeff27 1 year ago
GenYprogressive. Profit is earning money from an exchange of goods and services between 2 or more parties. In a free market economy two people or a person and company enter into an agreement to trade money for a product or service. The consumer makes the conscious decision to pay money to a company, knowing the company will profit from their labor to provide this to the consumer. Both the consumer and company get something they both want, the person gets the product, the company gets the money.
floridajeff27 1 year ago
@floridajeff27 Insurance companys get profits by not covering people when they get sick. You Fail.

Andrew Wilkow's real name is Chuck Norris
elbo3526 1 year ago
Wilkow's logic is that for-profit insurance could not compete with a public option because a public option doesn't have to make a profit to survive. His logic is admitting that for-profit insurance has been a miserable failure.
SELF PWNAGE.
Take away the call screeners and lets see how good this pussy does.
genYprogressive 1 year ago
@genYprogressive
Could you please explain how the insurance companies having to make a profit to survive equates to failure on the insurance companies part? Please tell me and the rest of America why making a profit means failure. Help us understand this point of view has grown to the point that profits are evil and going bankrupt is a virtue. Please
Mark27284 1 year ago

TheSkymech52 1 year ago
@TheSkymech52 That Jefferson quote is not relevent. Lets look at what you gave us. When you cons were in power you gave us Medicare Part D that wastes 300-350 billion a year. Just because the Gov blows when you are in charge of it doesn't mean it always does. Tell me are you going to defend the bloodsucking insurance companys over a Single-Payer System that costs less and covers everbody?
