I am from Scotland, however i do know some Finnish people who also are not aware of what Scandinavia is, or just gave up on the world not having a clue.

It doesn't baffle me that an American doesn't know it nor would it baffle me that a Brit wouldn't necessarily know it either.

Finland, where the lovely Villie Valo is from, is part of the area known as "Scandanavia". Sometimes Iceland is refered to as Scananavian too, though it's an Island not attached to mainland Europe.
