The Most Beautiful Song by Jethro Tull... Every single ‘second’ of this 1971 released song is beautiful! The variations & the diversity within the song makes it a true Epic! Martin Barre’s Guitar work & the Solo is Absolutely Amazing! Not to forget Ian Anderson’s Acoustics and Vocals too. Simply Breathtaking! Don’t you worry Jethro Tull, for you still do have avid fans like me, who was born in the 90’s :)
“While I was playing the solo of Aqualung, which was really going well, Jimmy Page walked into the control room and started waving. I thought, ‘Should I wave back and mess up the solo or should I just grin and carry on?’ Being a professional to the end, I just grinned.”
At the beginning of this concert (Hippodrome, 1977), Ian states that he is getting over a cold. That's "probably" why he is sniffling and rubbing his nose so much; Not cocaine, as many a delinquent have stated on this video. Amazing he still sings perfectly with a cold, too! Best frontman ever, in my opinion.

One of the most inspiring acts for me. My dad brought me up on Tull,my first concert was Jethro Tull at Hammersmith odeon when I was 7. I still have the T-Shirt "Broadsword and the Beast" it was the Rock Island tour, but that shirt was much better! I still wear it for the better gigs as it looks cool as f*ck.
These guys were awesome in concert in the mid 1970s in Los Angeles. Saw them again in the early/mid 2000s in Costa Mesa, Ca. They (especially Ian) were still great, just a lot older.
Theatrical on stage = entertaining. What better way to be, being the frontman? Better than just standing there like a statue. However, Buckethead can do just that since it's his stage persona.
@Mamertum345 While I agree, look at the numbers - 370 people have no clue but over 15,000 have great taste! You can't please everyone because they likely never will never have any taste. Over 6.5 million hits for Jethro Tull blow my mind any way you look at it. Well deserved!
@Mamertum345 Nickelback Fans I would hazard a guess...:0) ..how HORRIBLE it would be to grow up in current times with the GARBAGE they call music .....can you imagine Justin Beeblehead dredging up memories for someone in thier middle age as this does for us ???? NOTTA !

I saw them live in 72 and this a pizz poor version of a classic. Ian Anderson had become a caricature of what he was back then. I think Martin was the best guitarist they ever had and they were heading downhill after Benefit and Stand Up. My God, Ian's wife wrote the best songs on this record.
While The Beatles were singing about Yellow Submarines, Jethro Tull were singing about perverted old men chasing kids in parks with sinister as hell music, way ahead of their time.

This is the band i call "The Band of Unknown Genre."
I love Jethro Tull believe me. It's just that they are supposed to be a rock band but were inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame for heavy metal and on iTunes they are labeled as Pop!!
@askaluchadore I put them in the prog-rock area since their music spans many different styles, songs with different time signatures and distinctly separate sections....typical of those that are considered prog-rock.

Wonder if he ever imagined singing this song over thirty years later nearing the age of Aqualung. We never knew how spoiled we actually were have so much good music in the day. We were filthy rich with creative, individual, sophisticated, blend with a buzz music.

Don't mean to be one of those "thumbs up if ___ sent you here!" But there was a joke about this song in 30 Rock and I'm glad there was because this is brilliant!
The time when music was from the soul, and not the pasty bland garbage spewing form the mouths of the beibers and the rest of the grammy-whiners. God, I loved those old times.
@CUBALAW Man, relax. I'm just joking! I Know that Ian never used drugs, I say that becouse he get out of Stage and when he came back, he was more crazy... It was just a joke!

when Ian went behind the stage at 4:03, I'm pretty sure that he used cocaine...

@Gugasantucci You may be right. He wipes his nose shortly afterward. But who cares? One never questions a God.

@Gugasantucci it really looks like, but he does the nose thing all day, even in videoclips.

@Gugasantucci Why would you say something like that? What scintilla of evidence do you possess to substantiate your statement? Seriously!

This song is truly incredible. A touch of metal as well as touch of James Taylor and everything inbetween. Few artist could every mix all that into a brilliant song like this. Truly a creative piece of work!
Althought it is still total BS that Jehtro Tull beat Metallica for the first Metal Grammy lol.
