  • It's a beautiful romantic mystery. For myself, I like to believe that Corey was a fantasy, but such a powerful fantasy that even though the old man made her up, he eventually came to truly believe she existed, and that they'd shared this incredible romance, and that she would someday return to him. And such was his love, and such was his skill at story-telling, that the young man not only believes that she is real, but actually SEES her, and shares the same fantasy of a love affair with her.

  • One small correction. Line 6 should be "Moving through his memories" (or Movin') not just "Move".

  • I'm proud to say I was named after this song. I love this song so much its a wonderful story :)

  • I have often wondered how John Joseph knew Corey. Any thoughts? Was she someone that may have pass through the town often on one of the trains?

  • @derekspencer100

He may have never known her at'al, the whole song may have been one of the young mans stories, and the old man never existed, or the young man may have imagined her at John Joseph's funereal, but you do raise an interesting question... If she was real, and so the old man, then how did they met, maybe she was someone whom worked the trains?

  • @derekspencer100 I see Corey as Old John Joseph's Guardian Angel. His path to paradise "when she holds you, She enfolds you in her world." Maybe I am wrong but still love this song and Harry !

  • @derekspencer100 You're not supposed to know, that's the point. I don't want to know where she comes from.

  • @derekspencer100 I liked to imagine it was his daughter.

  • @hkdancergl

    ooo that's a good one!

  • @derekspencer100 My interpretation was that she was an angel, actually. As funny as it sounds.

  • This guy is unbelievable

  • @nutballgazette Do you mind if I ask when you got the CD? Send them a cheque years ago (for this CD specifically, SO hard to find) and never heard a peep back, which really surprised me :-( Maybe they're back on track now.

  • @TinyDancer500 It was a couple of years ago. I got it very quickly.

  • Thank you, thank you, thank YOU! THE best version of this beauty he ever recorded, IMNSHO ;-) Caught one mistake in the lyrics, as you asked, this line: "Standing there in silence, with a shola around her head", should be "a shawl around her head". I'm a massive Harry fan and have (just about) every single song transcribed by album in my files. Give me a shout if you need anything. Thanks again, I do so love this version.

  • @TinyDancer500

Well I'm glad I'm not just wasting my time, thanks TinyDancer.

  • @SongsofHarry You are not wasting your time or any one who appreciates Harry's music. Thank you for your posts. I enjoy relaxing listening to Harry Chapin after a long day or week. Glad their other fans out there that share his songs.
