Our second daughter was born the day after the 2003 Melbourne Cup - I was stoked Makybe Diva won - she was a Mum like me! And then she did it all over again in '04 and '05 :o)
@AlfyLanger20 I would prefer to win 3 Melbourne cups as well, but the Cox Plate is obv more based on skill/power and less on handicap. That being said, I guess it was a pretty big victory (particularly the third win) considering how much weight they mounted on her.
Chris Munce rode Zagalia a treat...I was on her and at the time I was disappointed, but when you look at the whole race, he had to contend with barrier 24 and was more of a backmarker, so to ride her to a close up 5th was outstanding...it is a shame that he is in jail.
What happened chris munce i was living in Oz at this time and he was a favourite of mine at the time, rememeber he was on dance hero in the slipper and hacked up that day, drink all day and night

its not a shame MD is retired!!!!!! she raced and raced and raced and went where no other horse has gone before...she one millions in prize money and yet u want her to give more!?
all she could ever ask for would eb to retire...she loved racing but she's too old and now they can breed her...shes done her part in this universe....and people who witnessed the great feats she conqured will never forget
It was She's Archies own fault she didn't get the big prize. At the 2f she was in clear running but the likes of Pentastic & Grey Song went straight past her. Unfortunately she couldn't quicken when the oppportunity presented itself. A sensational run nevertheless.
Makybe was swishing her tail around for the last 100 metres-not in a good mood-imagine how far she would have won by if she was in a happy mood?

The only horse I think is better than her is Phar Lap, coz he won 2 cox plates. But she's the best horse in our lifetime for sure. :)

yeah alot say she is better then pharlap....i think she is in a way (she wont he melbourne cup 3 times in a row)
but pharlap had a heart twice the size of a racing horse and he carried incredible weight penalties

I think you're confusing She's Archie with Jardine's Lookout (similar colours)
Jardines Lookout was one paced and Grey Song sprinted straight past.
At that stage She's Archie was behind them looking for a run and finally got it between Grey Song and Pentastic.
Jardines Lookout got to the outside and amazingly caught the tiring Grey Song and Pentastic in the last 20m.
