This is great to be able to compare performances. I would like to hear from all you Marty Robbins fans if you would do me the honor of visiting dubldvideo to watch Bill Barwick's version of this song. I think he does Marty proud.
My Uncle Wilfred loved Marty Robbins , he loved country music so much. I will always think of him whenever I hear songs like these... RIP Uncle Wilfred... I lived in Jamaica then, as a little girl!! I love Country Music!!
This is one of my favorite Marty Robbins songs, what a great story teller. This video was part of a live concert that was video taped in Oct 1981 in West Palm Beach Florida and put out on VHS "Marty Robbins His Legacy" in 1986. The song is longer but he did a quicker version that time. I was fortunate enough to attend that concert.
My late father in-law crewed for Dave Marcus. While out on the track on a test run after working on the car he notices he's door to door with Marty Robbins. He said Marty was a pretty fair hand at the wheel.
I used to have a ginger cat with one ear, who my father affectionately dubbed "Texas Red". I never knew where it was from until I heard this song and pissed myself laughing. Great tune.
I was 17 when Marty Robbins died. I was, and still am a huge fan. Always regretted that I never got to see him in concert, but this is the next best thing.
@gabeyoung12345 Because Marty raced Grand National (Sprint Cup) cars in Nashville, Talladega, and other places. He owned his team and bought cars from Richard Petty
I heard this song 30 odd years back when my uncle used to play it on his hi fi,Did not know who sang it until I heard it in Fallout New Vegas, loved it and bought a Gunfighter Ballads & Trail Songs/More Gunfighter Ballads & Trail Songs cd,without the video game I would not have. ^^
great vid...this song, the cars....mayby I sound stupid, but one day I will call a pony car my own and then its´s just me & the car, the road and sweet songs like this one...thanks for upload
GOD DAMN IT PEOPLE, ALL YOU GUYS LIKE THIS CUZ OF A FUCKING GAME. NOT BECAUSE YOU REALLY LISTENED TO IT!!! FUCK SAKES... sorry bout caps lock, i didnt notice it til now
@supermariofan987 i agree, and the comment was not to bash fallout, its a good game and all, but ive liked this song since way before new vegas was even announced
You do realize that songs like this that appear in video games give the artists in those games more exposure, I really like this song in Fallout and I have never heard of this artist, and I wouldn't have found him if it wasn't for Fallout. So you sir miss the point COMPLETELY so stfu and gtfo. Good Day.
@Olly22291 actually my point was that you only like this because of a video game, which you proved by saying that.... so no i made my point, you wouldnt like this if fallout wasnt around, and all you guys annoy the shit out of me when your like "oh i love this song so much! fallout is awesome" no shut the fuck up you dont like the song you like the game. i can guarentee no one would like this if they just sstumbled across it one day, you fucking hypocitical fuck, so you stuf and gtfo, bitch
So what your saying is exposing a good artist & their songs is a bad thing, even to the younger audience that wasn't alive when this music came out. Mmmm smart thinking there assmunch. Some of my favourite artists that I found were through TV, movies and games. Like you've never done that before, get the sand out of your vagina.
@Olly22291 i never once said it was a bad thing, i said it was annoying listening to these fucking morons talk about how much they love this song, when in fact they dont, it just reminds them of a game, i love that this song is in fallout, but i loved this song long before fallout was even around, im annoyed at stupid people, nopt fallout, ad to be honest, your proving yourself to be one of the stupid people.
@joshrocks11 i never said i was better than anyone for liking it first, i just said im annoyed with all these fucking idiots proclaiming they love this song when in fact, if they heard this when it wasnt in fallout, 90% of them would hate it. please read my arguments more carefully before you make yourself look like a moron.
@bdGongShow That is a stupid argument to, and it is working under false assumptions. The argument is predicated on you thinking they would hate it if they didn't hear it from fall out, and that is just not true. They searched it out because they loved.
Too assume that, and then get annoyed by an argument that you are working on (based on assumptions) no less is silly.
@bdGongShow I listened to this song before the game came out. I've listened to Marty Robbins since I was 10 and thats 34 years ago. Marty Robbins is a true country and western artist they don't make musicians like him anymore. I've never played fallout. New games coming out are introducing new generations to great perfoming artists that are no longer with us.
Love parts of Fall Out New Vegas but wish they spent a little more time putting more songs in the game. Because that is all we have to enjoy on our long walks across the map haha
loc139 i jumped the gun and for that i apolagise i am not very good on the computer and got my info mixed up so please ignore the stupid remark i just made it was made out of anger and not intelagence but my offer of friend ship still stands
it was kind of stupid of me to thing that a bunch out of vietnam would do anything for a vietnam vet but i did not know you were from nam when i wrote you ,so dont worry i will stay off your stinking sight
@SonicDude87 i only just found out its in that game, which ive never played. been listening to marty robbins since i was a kid sitting beside my ma's record player.
This is when people used to actually tell a story with a song. My granpa and I used to put on the "Marty Robins El Paso City' record and sing together all the time growing up. Miss that kind of music and miss Grandpa.
I'm surprised there isn't a video of Marty singing the whole song since it was one of his biggest hits. Just shows how technology has changed. He must have done the whole song on some TV show.
Wow! I've been a Marty Robbins fan all my life and was disappointed that the video was interrupted with NASCAR footage, until I discovered it was Marty himself driving. Learn something new every day. Pleasant surprise!
I love this song, always have, but mainly because ,when my son was small ,he made me laugh,as he walked into the room singing this and holding my iron at his hip,(steam iron)he was such a joker ,but he loved this song, sadly i lost him at the age of 34,but each time i hear this song it brings a smile to my face.
this is my kind of country. not the new stuff where literally almost every male singer has the EXACT same singing voice. i love the western songs like this, where they tell an actual story or a legend, not about drinking, how my day went, or losing my love.
I WANT TO THANK AN OL'E COWBOY AT HEART "BILL BOCOOK" OF 5 MILE IN PROCTORVILLLE OHIO. WHO WITHOUT HIM I WOULD NEVER HEARD OF MARTY ROBBINS OR LEARNED IMPORTAINT LESONS OF LIFE. THIS GREAT MAN STOOD IN AS MY FATHER FIGURE WHEN NO ONE ELSE WOULD AND TAUGHT ME MORALS TO LIVE BY ,, HE MAY NOT BE AWARE OF HIS HUGE INPACT IN MY LIFE ,BUT LIFE IS CHACHED FOR THE GOOOD BECAUSE OF HIM. HE IS MY FRIEND , MENTOR, AND MY IDOL GROWING UP . AND STILL IS. IF YOU EVER SEE THIS . I HOPE U KNOW WHO WROTE IT.!
Who is that amazing guitar player on this show? I'm almost positive that Grady Martin played on the original recording with Marty on this song. I wonder if that's Grady Martin. All I know is I'd damn sure hire him for my gig, if I had the chance. He's terriffic. Marc Trainor-Pedal steel player with the Fugatives.
Yeah, I agree. What I would like to have been able to do in both games was to add my own MP3's,WAV's,etc. to customize the soundtrack but there's that pesky copyright thing...
love the song, love the artist, agreed on the Fallout New Vegas Soundtrack. Makes you wish for Three Dog again. The only major fault with the game, so many songs they could have used and they only chose four, lol
@whitedank11 Well, look at it from this angle. Marty Robbins has been shown to hundreds of thousands of people that are young, and may have never experienced his music otherwise. By the way, the game is Fallout: New vegas, which has been a wealth of old songs. The last two games have included the group called the Ink Spots! When was the last time you heard them on the radio?

love the song, love the artist, agreed on the Fallout New Vegas Soundtrack.

People often ask me, "Is there a Mrs. YouTube?"
Well of course there is. You're her. And you're still as beautiful as the day we met.
