The album version is written in F and by bringing it down into A it allows them to hit the otherwise very high notes that both of them would have been able to hit 15 or 20 years ago. Personally, it's still a great song, no matter what key.

Billy stopped playing this because he couldn't hit the notes anymore in the 90s... elton wanted to bring it down a few keys years ago but billy said it didn't work... apparently he gave in :-} good stuff!
