In this case, 4-overhead cams on a fuel motor. One each for the intake and exh. on each bank. The McGee showed some promise, but needed more r&d. Getting closer to spec motors all the time now...
If your refering to the quad cam engines that were being built for top fuel and were eventualy banned by the NHRA, you will find that they were built by an Australian by the name of McGee.
Why did the nhra ban those engines. I always wondered why suddenly news about them disapeared. Reading the comments on youtube, doesnt it want to make you weep for humanity.
Yeah, that was too bad and an important step towards NHRA limiting the "unlimited" (once upon a time) Top Fuel class. Gary Beck did quite a bit of work with the McGee bros. Pretty much for naught. Drags sure aren't what they used to be-are they? Shame...
Thank you for pointing that out. I am glad it was a highly intelegent peron such as your self who pointed that out. Now may I suggest you go back to school and learn to read and maybe even learn how to spell as it is you who appears to be the dumbass. Now for your information a 'Funny-Car' is a type of drag racing car.
yeah tim grose raced after this crash for a few more years, i believe he won a few races as well and i think retired in either the late 80's or 90's today he is now a builder of high-performance engines
Yes around $60,000 for a Nitro F/C in the 1980's, around $130,000 - $150,000 to buy one today and then add a another $100,000 or so in spares before you even think about going racing.
Those are cheap shots from Prudhomme (He never could beat Grose). I remember when it happened.. Grose had the throttle stick wide open. Not much to do but shut the fuel off and hang on...

@FuelCoupe Naw, this IS the Tim Grose that he was talking about. Grose and Schubeck build quad-cam fuel motors that can be used on the street.

Not a 100% sure but I think it was around the late 80's early 90's he retired.

Wow surprisingly only $60,000 for that car, I expected hundreds of thousands.
