  • i don't know how many times i've heard this beautiful tune. it's my favourite scottish air, and it always leaves me with a lump in my throat. anyone else reading this, please ask robbie shepherd to play this tune, at least it'll get graham some of the credit he deserves, not to mention a few bob.

  • Awwwww thanks Donny

  • this still remains one of my all-time favourite tunes. it's a masterpiece. i wish a few more players would record this one

  • Cheers Donny

  • This has to be one of the most hauntingly beautiful songs I have ever heard! Thanks! Jan from Georgia

  • Thanks for the lovely comment Jan

  • One of the most beautiful pieces of music I've heard in my life. It has to become a classic like the dark island. There's so much feeling gone into this tune I can actually feel it myself as you're playing it. This tune deserves to be played on every Scottish radio programme in the world. Thanks Graham

  • Thanks so much for this comment my friend.

  • Graham this tune deserves to go down in musical history as one of the most gorgeous Scottish airs ever composed. I've bought Tom Alexanders cd with this tune on it, and he makes a stunning job of it. However, it's the emotion in your playing that makes your version the best. I doubt if there's a player alive or dead who could match your performance here. A magnificent tune, magnificently played and bringing a tear to this grown mans eye. Thank you Graham, and please keep posting your music

  • I really do appriciate that lovely comment Ray, thanks mate.

  • Sorry, I only noticed this comment. My Granny was Anne Maclennan from Letterfearn

  • Did Anne Maclennan know Allan or Iain Macdonald? Pipers from Glenelg. Where are you yourself living now?

  • Sorry I've no idea if Anne knew them. It's very possible as she knew a lot of folk around the whole area. Anne died quite a number of years ago.

I'm living betewwn Inverness & Nairn though my heart's really in Kintail

  • I had tears in my eyes too when I heard this for the first time. I heard Tom Alexanders' version last night on Moray firth radio, and it was beautiful as well. However, after reading about the history of the tune I can CLEARLY see why the area has a special place in your heart. I've had to dry my eyes a few times before I could finish writing this comment. Graham, thank you for the most enchantingly beautiful tune I've ever heard.

  • You're more than welcome Morag

  • I think that tear in my eye was just dust, you cought me in a moment of weakness paying YOU a compliment aarrgghh, I'm OK noo. The tune --- ach it wiz OK !!!! ha ha

  • I forgive you Annie, just as the chaplain will as well.

  • Graham, yer music TALKS, it says more than words could ever say and I've got a tear in my eye listening to this one. It's so moving I could imagine it would often be played at funerals in Kintail. Brilliant, sob sob.

  • Thanks Annie

It's been played at two as far as I know.

  • There's something about the slow airs & waltzes you've composed that's really special. After reading through your own comment here I can see that you're still feeling unhappy about losing this part of your life. It's coming out in your music and it's beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing it.

  • Very kind remarks, thank you Maggie

  • I agree with everything said by fiddlerselbows. This is without a doubt one of the best slow airs composed in recent times. Hopefully it'll be around for a few hundred years.

  • Thanks Lachy glad you like it and thanks for subscribing.

  • One of the most glorious tunes I've heard ever.

I can feel a hell of a lot of emotion in your playing on this one. This tune deserves to be played on every Scottish music radio programme in the world. Story behind the tune please ?

  • My late stepmother came from Letterfearn. A wonderful hamlet on the shores of loch Duich. I spent all my school holidays there. My first public performance was with the infamous Kan Rayson accordion band in Dornie. My first gig with my wife was in the village hall at Sheil, My first accordion club gig as guest artiste was in Kyle. It holds a lot of happy memories for me as well as sad ones. I'd hoped to retire there but it's not to be. I havn't been there for 20 years.

  • I get sad when I recall all the times I drove up and down the lochside, never tiring of its beauty, and how friendly the people there are, but I also get happy when I think of the enjoyment I had as well

  • I can feel all the emotion in your playing Graham, it's a breathtaking melody and makes me want to keep listening to it. It's a magnificent part of Scotland and I don't blame you for wanting to go back. Thank you so much for uploading and sharing this with us.

  • You're more than welcome

  • I left Scotland with my parents when I was 4 years old. I've never managed to come back on holiday.
