Recently my mantis nymph came to the bottom of its Terrarium which is rare for her. The cricket ran up to her head on and actually scared her away, do mantids not fight head on?
I think mantis prefer to have food not "head on" but slightly in front of their heads depending on the mantis species and size. You should experiment with your mantis, try caterpillars, moths, flies etc........
I usually just buy some clear containers approx 3 x the height of the mantis and cut out a hole in he lid, I then just glue a peice of netting in over the hole to keep them from escaping.
Hi, the only reason I got him to sit there was because he was feasting on a nice, juicy cricket. I use my eyetoy as a webcam and it just so happens that I can manually zoom in at amazingly close close-ups (bear in mind that the nymph was about 1cm). I have five chinese mantis nyphms and they are a lot bigger now at around L3-L4. Hope this Helps!
lol perfect song for this
