@MountainDewOfficials disagree. Religion has been one of the bases from which society since our primitive stages has coalesced on, and religion has helped inspire the development of some of the most sophiticated periods in human history (example the golden age of islam for starters). Now look, im a deeply devout christian but i dont support these republicans that hypocritical preach jesus but love the rich and wealthy. I think they should be called out for the hypocrites that they are
@Shonenut213 Oh according to historical witnesses (who were not Christians) he was real, but that doesnt mean he was God's son or anything like that lol.
@lostchild06 well obivously christians cant show you physical evidence that jesus christ was the son of god. Thats a faith statement thats supported from old testament prophecies about him and his own words. Thats something thats not based so much on evidence than it is his own words and belief. We can't "prove it" to you, we can only tell you what the gospel says...
@Shonenut213 bro...i dont know what history text book you've been reading but he is real. The Jesus Christ myth theory popularized by a lot of atheists has been debunked and reject by the overwhelming majority of new testament scholars and historians. I you dont believe hes the son of god, thats different. But to say he's not real is like saying alexander the great is not real just because we don have his body. Its absurd...
No, what he meant was "I've got a lot of political heroes too, I love Winston Churchill, Ronal Reagan, Abraham Lincoln... JESUS CHRIST I sound like a robot - let's do that again, shall we?

So people hate gays and sins but Jesus C. Said hating another living being is wrong...so christians aren't christian but psudo-christians? WOW christians 'll believe anything from a book writen BY MAN rather than acnowledge love and compassion and THE REAL LIFE!

I doubt American conservatives and Jesus Christ have all that much in common politically. After all, He told the pharisees that they should pay their taxes.
@thepilotcat Prove that. Jesus made the Young Turks and everything material? Really? Do you read the bible? Last I checked, Jesus wasn't pulling ribs out of his side and planting people in the ground (because yeah, that's really how life begins). Jesus didn't make anything except Christians. And what a shining example of a Christian you are.
When Jesus heard this, he said to him, "You still lack one thing. Sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me." Luke 18:22
I really don;t see how any republican could list jesus as their idol. Jesus was a radical pacifist who wanted the rich to give there money to the poor ( a "Socialist").
@donroche Considering that the government in 1st century Palestine was not anything like the current arrangement, that is not really an apt comparison. Now can you cite references where he says "slaves pay taxes" and "obey god not man"?
@underbjorn Breivik was a Christian but not a fundamentalist Christian. He was driven by rightwing political ideology that wasn't directly related to his religion.
@Ant1Live I am a student of the Bible and all the verse you quote are true but unfortunate for you there is something called CONTEXT. We have been feeding the homeless and hurting on the street every weekend for the last 10 years. Most all the people I work with are the people you say are hateful "right wingers" and yet many of those we serve are liberal thinking people . It does not matter who or how they think we love them anyway. We do not degrade them but call them friends just like J.
@toneo2001 I didn't call anyone hateful, and liberals are just as bad as conservatives. As for context... I have no idea where you are going. The points I made are 100% consistent with the context.
Why do Liberals make this stupid mistake? Jesus was NOT a communist. He told people to voluntarily give their money away, not to have it forcibly confiscated by an all powerful centralized government. As an agnostic, Tim Pawlenty's(and nearly every other politician on BOTH SIDES of the isle) whoring out of his faith for political gain disgusts me. But I don't like it when a "news agency" takes things out of context or misrepresents for their own political gain either. TYT is very guilty of that.
Because it's more important to care about crazy world domination conspiracies seeking to segregate and purge Muslims than covering a Christian far-right extremist murdering almost 100 innocent people, most of them social democrats.
.
It's the dream of Republicans, a far-right Christian white islamophobic gun maniac rampaging against every single Muslim like they all did something to him and in turn he murders those disgusting 13-year old socialists.
"disgusting 13-year old socialists." could you talk more about this part didn't understand you!!? are you saying it's good that he killed those youth !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mate...I am a Swedish social democrat myself, there is no way in hell I approve of crazy far-right nationalists blowing up people to purge Scandinavia because they have some crazy idea of Muslim world takeover in the crazy class like Hitler's Jewish world influence.
just wanted to have correct understanding. I'm still shocked how it is not getting a big coverage as if doesn't matter and it's not even called a terrorist attack !!!
If Jesus Zombie were alive today and ran for office in Jerusalem, he'd be assassinated by militant right-winger with Israel's support. Same shit, different day.
@edgeninja I hear what you saying but Jesus was Liberal with the things of God and preached against sin in whatever manner he saw it. To much of what Jesus said is interpreted as if Jesus was supporting a political system or dogma but in fact the message of Jesus had to do more with the heart of the individual. Thats why he said a man "must be born again to enter the kingdom of God" He spoke of the Kingdom and spoke of what a person looks like who has been reborn from death to life......
To accredit a 2000-year old prophet a so-called "anti-government view" with a meaning of the word based on the 21st century United States right-wing is if anything simplistic.
.
Books like the Bible are stuffed with contradictory verses and quotations, the common perception of the relevant quote is that materialistic possessions are Ceasar's and attention to faith is God's.
.
Thus, pay your taxes to Rome and pray x times a week.
Yea Jesus was a political hero of his time, a radical, liberal who believed in taking care of the poor, loving all ppl, being at peace with everyone & not putting faith in the material aspects of this world. But the 'Christians' always seem to ignore those parts...
BTW Jesus hated greed so much that he flipped the tables in the Temple when he saw ppl selling on the Sabbath.
@liza617 actually yes, and conservative rabbis bought by the Romans (big multinational empire) sentenced him to die nailed on a cross for that. He dared to challenge a corrupt establishment by reaching to the poor and preaching non-violence.
That's in the scriptures, read. Then, all these so-called "christian conservatives" are in fact a bunch of motherfucking PAGANS.
Jesus/religion is anything its believers want and need it to be. It's flexible to a fault. Considering the wrong Right likes to frequently rewrite history and portray historical figures in its own image it's nothing new.
Jesus would've been a capitalist in a democratic republic. He believed in being charitable voluntary. Forced virtue is not virtue at all. God/Jesus has the power to directly manifest himself and demand that you act virtuously, but he doesn't. Why not? Because then you'd be behaving virtuously for very selfish reasons. When there is doubt and free will, people are free to be virtuous or not. In other words, God believes in leaving you that choice. Socialism forces virtue by taking part of your pay
Good point, Cenk. It has always baffled me how these Republicans call themselves Christians. Jesus Christ- real person or not- made it very plain that wealthy people don't go to heaven. And these guys happen to be the wealthiest people in the wealthiest nation in the world. Unless they think they can easily squeeze a camel through the eye of a needle, they got a WHOLE LOT of giving money away before they can call themselves Christians. WWJD? Not vote Republican, that's for damn sure.
@1955RodHot " Republicans call themselves Christians. " Nothing would make me happier than if the Democrat Party were made up of all atheists. I think that would make you and the TYT viewers happy also.
@CalebAlucardtheHagan - When I actually read the Bible I found that nowhere did he say that. The closest thing of a mention of hell from Jesus was The Parable of the Unmerciful Servant from Matthew 18. Even in that parable it implies you can still get out (if you take jail as a reference to a hell of some sort), and the people who get condemned in the parable are merciless people, implied to be religious hypocrites.
Okay here's the bottom line: If you know anything about science and/or history of religion including religions older than Christianity and how Christianity came about, there's no way you can believe this stuff and still be a sane person.
No way did Jesus give a crap about politics. He just wanted to promote a specific moral structure and the belief that God can create miracles. Nothin' to do with politics.
@francisco444 TO follow an unsupported belief from an ancient factually incorrect book with no evidence to back it up sounds pretty mentally defective to me.
@MakoSharkX Dude, the bible has a lot of historical and accurate things in it. Obviously, I hope your smart enough that the bible is not to be taken word for word. It's more like a "instructions before you leave earth" book. 6 days to make the earth inGod's time could have been a billion years. There is no harm in reading the bible...as far as I know is the most popular and oldest book in earth. I'm sure because there are a lot of true things in it.
@francisco444 Because it's popular doesn't make it right... and of course it can't be taken literally! Oh why would a "perfect god" speak through an ancient book formulated by the emperor Constantine?
ANd good instructions? Such as "kill all save the women who hath not known a man" when raiding a village? How much you can pay for a slave and how badly you can beat them? That's all in there.
@MakoSharkX Didn't I just said the bible is not to be taken word by word? especially if it's the old testament. different times different measures my friend. That perfect God does speak to you, believe me man. I used to have my doubts too. I've seen from miracles to evil anomalies, revivals and laughter to exorcisms. I've seen a lot scary things and have experienced the most beautiful feelings. The problem is that us humans are so stupid and stubborn that we take the easy way out.
@francisco444 And isn't it rather interesting that these "miracles" always happen when no party pooping people with cameras or non-theistic observers are about? Rather like how Lepricons only appear to people alone and drunk in fields.
@MakoSharkX Look go to a christian church, and see for yourself. The clue is, once you go inside the church, if you feel something moves you then you went to the right place if you don't then leave and find another one. There are things that will never be answered for our own good. I'm sure if we knew the truth we will go crazy or kill ourselves. I'm not gonna tell you that religion is perfect because even Jesus hated religion. If you belive in aliens then Jesus isnt that far from real.
@francisco444 So a "feeling" is enough to move you to leaps of faith? You truly have a flawed thought process. For your information I have been to a church, I was put through sunday school, and I have seen children lied to in the name of a bronze age false deity. This is far from lawdable, this is evil.
@MakoSharkX A feeling is only the beginning. I didn't say a feeling turned me christian and realized is the truth. I have gone through many experiences that I always kept telling myself. "is just a coincidence" or "is my imagination". You have no faith and that has led you to believe the easy way out, just like I was. I still struggle, even pastors or preachers have fallen. Problem is we are too busy and have become selfish. Church is not the answer but I hope one day you'll find the truh.
@francisco444 So in other words... church is BS, the bible is BS, but the god which only exists within those two things is real and manifests himself? Please...
And "have become selfish?" Since when is the entire concept of "we are the product of an all powerful god who cares enough to listen to us" not been selfish? How about the infinite afterlife thing? That's pretty bloody selfish.
Ever read the actual description of the biblical heaven? It's about th most materialistic thing ever.
@MakoSharkX Yup. A god who made man in is own image? What a vein, self centered jerk. And why would any benevolent being allow chaos and hatred suffering in his universe? Sounds like a kid playing with toys.
@francisco444 Also while I'm at it: "I can't explain it myself" is not a valid reason to stick god in a gap in knowledge. Even IF the "many experiences" you keep going on about were caused by the supernatural the fact they happened doens't tell you anything about which supernatural force caused them, least of all that it was the christian god.
@BlackSoultan That's because fictional Paisley penguins aren't being shoved down our throats every day, and stunting the growth of all mankind.
We challenge people when they believe things strongly without evidence or in contradiction to science and common sense EXCEPT when it's someone's religion, and we atheists are sick and tired of it.
Gee, there sure are a lot of people trying to convince themselves of the non-existence of a being they claim not to believe in. If you were truly all athiests, why would you care? I don't believe in paisley penguins, but you don't see me TYPING IN ALL CAPS TO PROVE THAT THEY AREN'T THERE!!!!! (we call those people crazy too, ya know...)
@BlackSoultan Maybe because the believers in paisley penguins don't have a mission statement which unapologetically and quite firmly states that "everyone who does not believe in Paisley Penguins deserves to be torchered forever and should be put to death." I'd say that's worth opposing.
Is there something called separation of state and religion?. Do that thing actually make all this lunatic republican assholes who pray away the budget crysis discualified to be president in 2012

@toneo2001 I didn't call anyone hateful, and liberals are just as bad as conservatives. As for context... I have no idea where you are going. The points I made are 100% consistent with the context.
Ant1Live 7 months ago
Why do Liberals make this stupid mistake? Jesus was NOT a communist. He told people to voluntarily give their money away, not to have it forcibly confiscated by an all powerful centralized government. As an agnostic, Tim Pawlenty's(and nearly every other politician on BOTH SIDES of the isle) whoring out of his faith for political gain disgusts me. But I don't like it when a "news agency" takes things out of context or misrepresents for their own political gain either. TYT is very guilty of that.

How are you not covering the bombing in Norway !!!!!!!!!!!
Driv3ItLikeUStoleIt 7 months ago
@Driv3ItLikeUStoleIt ---
Because it's more important to care about crazy world domination conspiracies seeking to segregate and purge Muslims than covering a Christian far-right extremist murdering almost 100 innocent people, most of them social democrats.
.
It's the dream of Republicans, a far-right Christian white islamophobic gun maniac rampaging against every single Muslim like they all did something to him and in turn he murders those disgusting 13-year old socialists.

It was pure sarcasm.

edgeninja 7 months ago 41
@edgeninja I hear what you saying but Jesus was Liberal with the things of God and preached against sin in whatever manner he saw it. To much of what Jesus said is interpreted as if Jesus was supporting a political system or dogma but in fact the message of Jesus had to do more with the heart of the individual. Thats why he said a man "must be born again to enter the kingdom of God" He spoke of the Kingdom and spoke of what a person looks like who has been reborn from death to life......

Christ also said you should not covet your neighbours maidservant or manservant.
.
Yeea, the prophet of god was very keen to prevent people mixing with each other's slaves. Such filth!
Stay were God told you to stay, your place in society is given.
.
Christ also said he had not come to earth so that man should stop adhering to the old laws, meaning the Old testament.
Do you know what kind of pleasant verses the Old testament contains?
underbjorn 7 months ago
@edgeninja Jesus was a liberal in some instances and conservative in others. You can simplify him like that.

KnightofGascogne 7 months ago
Jesus/religion is anything its believers want and need it to be. It's flexible to a fault. Considering the wrong Right likes to frequently rewrite history and portray historical figures in its own image it's nothing new.
frededison 7 months ago

WWJD? Not vote Republican, that's for damn sure.

upabittoolate 7 months ago
@CalebAlucardtheHagan - When I actually read the Bible I found that nowhere did he say that. The closest thing of a mention of hell from Jesus was The Parable of the Unmerciful Servant from Matthew 18. Even in that parable it implies you can still get out (if you take jail as a reference to a hell of some sort), and the people who get condemned in the parable are merciless people, implied to be religious hypocrites.

@francisco444 TO follow an unsupported belief from an ancient factually incorrect book with no evidence to back it up sounds pretty mentally defective to me.
MakoSharkX 7 months ago
@MakoSharkX Dude, the bible has a lot of historical and accurate things in it. Obviously, I hope your smart enough that the bible is not to be taken word for word. It's more like a "instructions before you leave earth" book. 6 days to make the earth inGod's time could have been a billion years. There is no harm in reading the bible...as far as I know is the most popular and oldest book in earth. I'm sure because there are a lot of true things in it.
francisco444 7 months ago
@francisco444 Because it's popular doesn't make it right... and of course it can't be taken literally! Oh why would a "perfect god" speak through an ancient book formulated by the emperor Constantine?
ANd good instructions? Such as "kill all save the women who hath not known a man" when raiding a village? How much you can pay for a slave and how badly you can beat them? That's all in there.
Along with stoning unruly teenagers to death.
And a flood/genocide of man is metaphoricle?
MakoSharkX 7 months ago
@MakoSharkX Didn't I just said the bible is not to be taken word by word? especially if it's the old testament. different times different measures my friend. That perfect God does speak to you, believe me man. I used to have my doubts too. I've seen from miracles to evil anomalies, revivals and laughter to exorcisms. I've seen a lot scary things and have experienced the most beautiful feelings. The problem is that us humans are so stupid and stubborn that we take the easy way out.
francisco444 7 months ago
@francisco444 In otherwords: "Look at the pwetty sunset! Magic man dunnit!"
Is that it then?
MakoSharkX 7 months ago
@francisco444 And isn't it rather interesting that these "miracles" always happen when no party pooping people with cameras or non-theistic observers are about? Rather like how Lepricons only appear to people alone and drunk in fields.
MakoSharkX 7 months ago
@MakoSharkX Look go to a christian church, and see for yourself. The clue is, once you go inside the church, if you feel something moves you then you went to the right place if you don't then leave and find another one. There are things that will never be answered for our own good. I'm sure if we knew the truth we will go crazy or kill ourselves. I'm not gonna tell you that religion is perfect because even Jesus hated religion. If you belive in aliens then Jesus isnt that far from real.
francisco444 7 months ago
@francisco444 So a "feeling" is enough to move you to leaps of faith? You truly have a flawed thought process. For your information I have been to a church, I was put through sunday school, and I have seen children lied to in the name of a bronze age false deity. This is far from lawdable, this is evil.
MakoSharkX 7 months ago
@MakoSharkX A feeling is only the beginning. I didn't say a feeling turned me christian and realized is the truth. I have gone through many experiences that I always kept telling myself. "is just a coincidence" or "is my imagination". You have no faith and that has led you to believe the easy way out, just like I was. I still struggle, even pastors or preachers have fallen. Problem is we are too busy and have become selfish. Church is not the answer but I hope one day you'll find the truh.
francisco444 7 months ago
@francisco444 So in other words... church is BS, the bible is BS, but the god which only exists within those two things is real and manifests himself? Please...
And "have become selfish?" Since when is the entire concept of "we are the product of an all powerful god who cares enough to listen to us" not been selfish? How about the infinite afterlife thing? That's pretty bloody selfish.
Ever read the actual description of the biblical heaven? It's about th most materialistic thing ever.
MakoSharkX 7 months ago
@MakoSharkX Yup. A god who made man in is own image? What a vein, self centered jerk. And why would any benevolent being allow chaos and hatred suffering in his universe? Sounds like a kid playing with toys.
ennuieffect 7 months ago
@francisco444 Also while I'm at it: "I can't explain it myself" is not a valid reason to stick god in a gap in knowledge. Even IF the "many experiences" you keep going on about were caused by the supernatural the fact they happened doens't tell you anything about which supernatural force caused them, least of all that it was the christian god.
MakoSharkX 7 months ago
@TheLydianPattern It's followers are what make it dumb. Without them, religion doesn't exist.

@BlackSoultan That's because fictional Paisley penguins aren't being shoved down our throats every day, and stunting the growth of all mankind.

BlackSoultan 7 months ago
@BlackSoultan Belief in paisley penguins doesn't seek to impose itself on humanity... there's a clear difference.
jlabrecque1 7 months ago
@BlackSoultan Maybe because the believers in paisley penguins don't have a mission statement which unapologetically and quite firmly states that "everyone who does not believe in Paisley Penguins deserves to be torchered forever and should be put to death." I'd say that's worth opposing.
