You should have your biological filtration last! Mechanical first, debris can clog the biological media restricting the amount of surface area for beneficial bacteria to colonize.

Hello, i have used this wonderfull pump for some months now, i clean it as needed with a method similar to yours, i allso clean the hoses during maintenence, but lately my pump seems to have lost its juice.. The water simply trickles out, theres no go in it anymore, any idea why this might be?

As i said, i clean it when needed, filter materials, rotor assembly and chamber, hoses, it's all clean.. I'm afraid the motor is burned out, but can this really happen??

There are countries, for example Holand, where clorine doesn't exist in tap water :) even so... if you paid attention to the whole video, he washed only a part of the filter media in tap water.

Do NOT follow this video as an example! This is the worst thing you can do; washing your filter media under chlorine/tap water. The best method is to clean one tray of media at a time, and not the whole filter at once. This guy probably had a huge ammonia spike in his aquarium after killing all the beneficial bacteria with the chorine tap water.

Hi Only I clean 20 % of the filter media with trap water, the rest the clean thing with water of the aquarium, since one sees in the images, that I gather the water that stays inside the filter to clean 80 % of the filter media, probably it cannot only clear in the images, but if you observe the video, alone a small part is cleaned in trap water, the rest is cleaned by water in the taper by water of the aquarium, regards

No deberias limpiar los elementos filtrantes con agua de grifo ya que eliminas las bacterias beneficiosas.

SIEMPRE hay que hacerlo con la propia agua del acuario

solo limpio el 20 % del material filtrante con agua del grifo, el resto lo limpio con agua del acuario, como se ve en las imagenes, que recojo el agua que queda en el interior del filtro para limpiar el 80 % del material filtrante, quiza no quede claro en las imagenes, pero si te fijas solo una pequeña parte se limpia en el grifo, el resto con agua en el taper con agua del acuario, saludos

muy buen video, que me recomiendas que compre un filtro de esos o me fabrique uno artesanal ?? lo bueno de los filtros artesanales es que uno le puede agregar tanto material filtrante como quiera. por decir carbon activo

Hola, en cuanto a la fabricación de uno artesanal, pienso que eso va en gustos, y si ademas disfrutas en su fabricación, pues mucho mejor, pero los filtros fabricados si se ajustan a tus necesidades, creo que estan mejor calibrados y estudiados, tambien según que marcas y modelos hay diferencias entre unos y otros.

En estos filtros tambien se puede poner carbon activo, en bolsas o en esponjas de carbon.

my cleaning go as / i get 2 large buckets fill with tank water .put an air stone in buckets to keep bacteria airarated then there is no rush .rinse every thing in bucket 1 then transfare to clean tank water bucket re build then top up canister with water from bucket 2 this stops air cloging up the system (bacteria does die of in the million the air stone keeps every thing ticking over )/chris

hi just a tip if you have a eheim canister get your self some 40s sand paper inside the canister give it a good sanding and the sides of your baskets this will increase your bacteria as the scratches will houses a lot more than smooth you cant tell for the out side that youve done it /chris

I think that it is good whenever the filter is cleaned, to clean with water of the proper aquarium the 80 % of the filtering biological media and 20 % remaining to clean it more thoroughly with tap water.

The media with only filtering function mechanical must be cleaned thoroughly by tap water

Dependiendo de acuario y la cantidad de peces que se tengan en él, yo lo limpio unas 3 veces al año, siempre y cuando tenga buen caudal, es decir que no se obstruya por los restos y la cantidad de agua filtrada sea poca, Gracias por los comentarios, Thanks

@Acuafilia: I don't think you fully understand what I'm saying. One thing is the chlorine, but the other thing is, you're cleaning the whole filter at the same time. You should NEVER take apart your entire filter to be cleaned all at one time. That's irresponsible advice that you are giving people. Read the other comments you're getting if you don't believe me.

Un aprox. en cuanto sale un filtro como el tuyo, yo hice un filtro de base con tubos de PVC el cual tenia que manter mas limpio mi acuario y no es asi. Buen video.

segun el fabricante el filtro 2224 esta recomendado para acuarios de una capacidad de hasta 250 litros, el motor que incorpora bombea 700 Litros/hora, por lo que considero que no es recomendable para un acuario de 40 litros, hay otros modelos de filtro, con menor caudal, que si podrias instalar perfectamente, saludos

¿lo lavas con agua del grifo? para evitar la muerte de las bacterias nitrificantes se han de lavar las esponjas, carbón y cerámica con el agua que se extrae para hacer los cambios parciales de agua en el acuario...

Hola, en el video se ve que utilizo el agua del acuario que queda en el vaso del filtro para lavar la mayor parte del material filtrante, (75%) y el resto (25%) es la que lavo con agua del grifo, esto es importante resaltarlo, por que asi se mantiene en buenas condiciones la colonia bacteriana del filtro, gracias por tu observacion, saludos

Hola, gracias por tu comentario, claro que yo hice el video, y los peces que tengo en el acuario son de fondo, coridoras e hypancistrus L260 y L287, con caracoles de varias especies y algunas gambas
