They need to start funding the methadone programs even more, an addict needs help not jail time. These types of crimes have only recently in the past decade or so become more popular in Atlantic Canada because of the dilaudid/oxycontin problem, among some other hard drugs a person may be addicted to.Send an addict to prison and he just continues his addiction inside jail, only now he has a much harder time getting a needle so they tend to share needles inside over and over among dozens of people

Most of the armed robbery, muggings and so on in New Brunswick are caused from the 'pill' epidemic here in Atlantic Canada. Or i suppose some other hard drug a person may be addicted too. It's not common to do these types of crimes in Eastern Canada until the past decade or so when the dilaudid/oxycontin started really getting popular. Instead of jail time they need to fund the methadone programs even more, an addict doesnt need jail where he will go share needles, he needs help.

we as a society are waaaay too tolerant of this type of violent crime! I for one am actually starting to watch my back when walking or going anywhere's at night.. now I gotta watch out in daytime too? Way too much violent crime in moncton, Muggings, rapes, murders, robberies etc. There's not enough deterrent in the penal system for these morons to think about what they are doing before they do it!

But we're all too chicken to put a stop to it I guess. C'est la vie!

They really do need to come up with harsher sentences for people like this, it's one of the few cases where American law actually makes more sense. Put them away in Jail at least for some time then the motivation to do stuff like this is less appealing if you know if you get caught you're guaranteed jail time behind bars!
