Would all you tools shut up about internal upgrades?? He is at what 300whp at best? The stock internals on the 3.8 are known for being able to handle boost very well, if you get into the 450hp ranger then he would be better off upgrading internals
@ajpunisher666 MK, Apparently EVERYONE on youtube has a better, faster car than everyone else. Besides, its not about total power output, but rather WHEN that power comes on that makes boosted cars quicker.
Bottom line guys with turbo set up on the.3800 engines gt or gtp you must have all the right supporting mods. Pcm tuned . Headers. 3 inch downpipe. intercooler .heat exchange. No cat. 104 pluggs that are 2 dg colder than stocks. Cai intake. drilled 180 or 160 t-stat. Tb and maf upgrade and internals upgrade or you can kill your engine with the knock retard " KR" and fracture a piston there is the getto way and the right way you chose!!!!
@elisvk your the stupid fuck this car SHOULD be intercooled idk if it is but when running this much boost engine needs to be running colder then stock. higher temps = higher chance of detonation. detonation = broken engine
Are you saying that this car should only be boosted when it isn't hot? (look at the oil temperature). When you max rev an engine that is still cold it will not be good for it. The engine won't be lubricated enough.
@elisvk Thrifty is talking about the intake charge temp. Revving a cold start engine to high is not good but running a cooler t stat is ideal. In this case a 180* would be just right. And if hes using HP tuners and e85 he could be KR free if the tune is right. Still super ghetto tho.
@nickyjam770 I know exactly what he's talking about but thats not what I'm talking about. I argued that reving an engine to high rpm at cold temp isn't good for it. He replied that it was good for the turbo. Not even relevant to my argument.
It's cool but you need to mod your tranny. Make it screech every gear. Then your car will go quicker ahead and easier for your transmission. It's all true. I know this as well. Not bad for the idea.
Pretty cool. Ditch those home depot couplers ASAP! You can get good ebay ones that are re-inforced for low prices. Those home depot ones WILL rip apart!
its building more boost on the top. thats the lean out your seeing in the vid, obviously its a wastegate issue as we have no issues running these on a number of vehivles. its the placement. just add 5% to your ve efficiency table above 4.5k and 11-15psi and it should come down to mid 12's all the way through. then 5 percent to 4-15psi from 2k-redline all the way through and it should be low 12's to 12 flats. but thats on a smaller set of injectors and assuming 43.5 psi fuel pressure.
@nickv11763 u must not know what your talking about this is a chevrolet engine built with qualit you can beat the fucking piss out of it and it will be fine you dont know shit about GM's engines
@Tmagic187 My Dad has been selling cars for GM for over 30 years it's safe to say I might know a little, if he's going over 11psi he needs to build the internals of the block being that he's running on E-85 it should burn a little bit cooler but 12psi max which is prob what he's pushing 10-12psi the tranny will go b4 anything they can't handle to much stock, God I miss my gtp good car and great in the snow unlike my brothers srt-4 lol
@nickv11763 Internals are good with the right tune KR kills these motors there have been plenty of guys using stock internals check out ZZP and Some of the forums and see for yourself. 3800 motors are damn good and take alot of abuse, The trans like you said are weak.
@RisingReaper88 KR kills any motor thats not cast iron lol. I've read all on ZZP, Intenseracing, clubgp, and many other. If the gtp can't take 13psi for long (keep in mind gtp motors have lower compression internals then the GT model) then the GT sure as shit can't take 13psi b/c it is a higher compression then the gtp and we all know that high compression and boost don't mix if u look at his vid.'s u'll see in description it's runnin13psi u will also see he hasn't posted a vid on the GT in a yr
@RisingReaper88 Well Time will tell I'm shooting for 15psi on stock internals I'm also using a ZZP z7 kit not a ebay kit.... You have not the slightest Idea what your talking about one of the fastests GP's on the road today is running like 700hp on a stock bottom end im not saying there aren't other supporting mods like cam heads but they have not touched the bottom end and it is on a N/a Bottom end, The higher Compression is good because you can make more HP with less boost...
@RisingReaper88 BTW 13psi isn't nothing for this motor... Anyways im not gonna keep this going you've been misinformed and i suggest you subscribe to my account and check back in the next couple months you'll see what a N/A Bottom end can actually do.
whats up man sweet ride!! i got a 03 bonneville with the l36 in it and going turbo can u send me a list of parts u used and got them from like the turbo and id really apprecate it and good luck on ur ride
How many lbs of boost do you typically run? I thought the GT had different heads from the GTP essentially and couldn't handle the compression ratio with boost? I've been thinking of boosting mine and running a water/methanol kit into her.=
actually those weld suck (they probably do the job which is what matter but...). like the build and what you did. i love diy builds, and congrats on your sleaper!
@boundy1000 on a honda u could use the oil sending unit (censor) with a brass T... or a sandwich plate.... it may work for most cars idk.... n BOV maybe a vacuum line that goes to some kind of unnecessary part...
Where did you find your Turbo Manifold? Ive been searching all over the place and cant seem to find just the manifold. I found the whole kit but theirs no way in hell im gonna spend 3000
I can't believe ta cheap shit works it only cost me 400 dollars for two turbos waste gate tri pod!! mother fucker. But i don't dare put that stuff on my car.
