50,000 ppl used to live there but they didnt all die most people were evacuated and never returned because of the radiation. u can live there now because the radiation levels have lowered in most places but there is problem with water and electricity aswell
@SamHowesInDaHouse you would most likely die of cancer, or something like that, not in pripyat at least, most of the closeby villadges are not behabited, i've read elena filatova's book, and i admire it,
Do you have a brain? (don't get offended) Do you know where she is ? She is near the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plan where is full of radiation from which you get cancer....
its crazy this destruction - there was no explosion but the radiation has just killed everything - and buildings overcome rot.... it really is a horror scene -
Well not those that came back to stay, those people could not adjust to life in the apartment buildings after living a different life for many generations...I mean the majority, the reasonable people, it is just so terrible that whole villages had to leave the houses that were occupied for generations. Where are these people now? No one can even remember the names of some of these villages, and no one knows where are the people that lived there, if any are still alive.
Can you imagine whole villages having to leave their homes forever? This is heartbreaking... I wonder if people still come back to visit the place that once was their home....
Yeah. Some people come back. In fact, a bunch of them decided that they were just going to move back anyway. They didn't care. There was a "Oh well. We all die anyway. Might as well die at home." type of attitude.
Im prety sure the music is Dead Can Dance, the vocalist is Lisa Gerrard, she also has some great solo stuff. I don't know the album or song title offhand.
you might consider tagging dead can dance lisa gerrard so others can find this video ( also the song title ) . . . dougie in austin . . .

If Elena were to hold the geiger counter closer to the dirt, it would zig up.
The radiation is now mainly in the dirt and will stay there for another 45,000 years.
