I hated what they turned Pauline into - it was really hard to like her after she had been so cruel to so many characters and I feel that this was such a huge betrayal of a. the character who had given the show some of it's best storylines and who helped to make it into a national institution and b. Wendy Richard who played some increasingly crass and ill-conceived storylines towards the end with the same dignity and gravitas as ever.
