    its called our sister planet

    ...the severely retarded sister planet

  • Aha the male symbol is a shield and a sword.... I always thought that arrow was something else.

  • @bodiejunior Boy, you're not kidding. This explains the sputtering and spluttering that my high school science teacher did (this was 1982 -- today I assume he'd simply laugh himself sick) after I guessed that the symbol represented the penis and the beer belly.

  • It's great to see this kind of videos(Sixty Symbols, Periodic Table...) without having to pay a lot for cable TV. Watching these videos made my weekend, thak you for that, Brady (and all the scientists too)!

  • what subject is this?

  • I love your videos. I've learned a lot about science and how it works form 60 symbols. thank you so muh Brady and all the other scientists for making these interesting and informative videos.

  • I swear at 3:03 I thought she was gonna say "It was crushed by the incredible hulk"

  • Why did they mess up the aspect ratio when showing the symbols @ 0:40? Is it that they just don't give a damn about it or is it that they didn'r even realize that the AR ist all wrong?

  • Venus is not hot, it has palm trees and beaches littered with martini bars run by aliens. They sprayed chemtrails to cover up the atmosphere from the prying eyes of earthlings. They knew as much as 10 thousand years ago that men from earth would go there in droves if they saw the holiday potential of the planet, and so now only the illuminati can officially go there as evidenced by the saucer shaped tour vehicles present in our atmosphere. I know this because I was involved at a deep level i

  • venus was the roman name for greek goddess APHRODITE and mars the roman name for the greek god ARIS.JUPITER=ZEYS or DIAS,SATURN=KRONOS,NEPTUNE=POSEIDON

  • now she said that venus is hot enough to melt lead, and that there is quite a bit of pressure there. this got me wondering if lead would actualy be molten on venus, cuz of pressure influencing the meltingpoint of stuff.

so would lead be molten on venus?

  • @eriamjh3 ya i had that same thought, I wonder if they even have data at those ranges for lead or not.

  • I like listening to this woman talking. Could listen to her for ages.

  • Very good video !!

Small correction: Venus was the Greek goddess of love and beauty as all the rest of the planets are named after Greek gods

  • @zealotkill no dude, the planets are named after roman gods.

  • @zealotkill no it wasn't. Venus is the ROMAN goddess of sexual love and beauty. Her Greek equivalent was Aphrodite.

  • @Bassfully

I dont get what u ppl dont understand...

Those names that ur saing are Greek gods

No matter if u call her Venus Jupiter or Saturn ...

The fact is that Venus=aphrodite...Jupiter=Zeus and Saturn=Kronos

There is no Greek equivalent of gods.

There is only the Roman or french or whatever equivalent of the Greek gods and the Greek mythology

Look up some things...Look up Greek mthology

All of the planets and allmost all of their moons (apart from 1-2) are Greek Gods and Greek Demi-gods.

  • @zealotkill no my friend, Romans evolved their pantheon quite distinctly from Greek culture, until they became so large a political entity in the Mediterranean that they started to feel Greece's influence. Just because Greek religion is older doesn't mean that it's the only one in ancient history. Venus was not the same as Aphrodites in the earlier phases of Roman civilization.

  • @Bassfully

Feel free to wiki ur so call roman goddess Venus

Or any other name u find in the solar system

As i told u before the entire solar system is filled with Roman equivalents of the Greek Olympian gods and many demi-gods(Hercules-Haron-Titan etc)

Its only natural if u consider that the Greek civilization rose before the Roman one did

I do not say that Greek gods dont have any dadys but they are the earlier wide-known pantheon

  • @zealotkill Oh, NOW i get it: you're crazy!

  • @Bassfully

    Out of arguments probably

It happens to the best of us :D

    Dont worry be happy :D

  • @zealotkill Incorrect! Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn and Neptune are ROMAN gods. The only Greek god in the solar system is Uranus.

The Greek versions of these gods are: Hermes, Aphrodite, Ares, Zeus, Cronus and Poseidon.

The Roman version of Uranus is Caelus.

  • @RobertoBastone

for the LOVE of god GET this onece and for all....all of you

ALL of the gods that you claim (planets named after them) are the GREEK OLYMPIC PANTEON

    LOOK UP OLIMPIC GODS FFS

their name in latin and in english doesnt mean that they are roman gods

they are the Roman EQUIVELANT of GREEK gods ... Educate yourselves

    wiki olimpic gods FFS

second collum ( ROMAN EQUIVELANT NAME )

    1rst collum (Greek ORIGINAL name)

  • @zealotkill actually, venus is roman. aphrodite is greek god of love.

  • @zealotkill Correction, Roman.

  • This is a great great series. And the fact that I can watch it on Youtube just make live worth living.

Can anybody tell me why does all the planets rotate on the same plane? I understand Pluto is somewhat off but it's no longer considered a planet.

  • i would love to go on a date with her, i can listen to her and not want to punch myself. AND on top of that, I'm learning.

  • I've got it. We link a hose between Venus and Mars. The hot air from Venus gets vented to Mars and visa-verse. Mars gets warmer, Venus gets cooler! 2 planets to colonize! :D I'll accept my Nobel Prize by fax or email, thank you. :)

  • @presbarkeep I like it! I'll set up the hose, and you can set up the pump! ;)

  • @presbarkeep Troll physics, ENGAGE! lol

  • The inhability of Venus represents the inner evil in women

  • she's hot

  • I was looking at venus yesterday through my new telescope and it looked like a half moon and at first i though that it was a little too Gas like and did not look like a solid object, now I know why that was..it was the atmosphere. Thank you very much for all your videos (that includes your other channels as well) I really enjoy them all.

  • What effect does the enormous pressure of the atmosphere play in the relatively high temperature of the surface?

  • Just thought id say i've watched a great number of your videos and i find them all so interesting. Kept me occupied on many a night! Thank you for taking the time to make them, please, keep it up!!

  • cool

  • This professor is very hot. I hope she do not have a husband or boyfriend. Greetings from Southampton, Miss Meghan.

  • I like this lady. She makes me want to learn more.

  • @biscuitfinger You perv! =P

  • @biscuitfinger I definitely agree! She's really smart and conveys the information well.

  • Tenossa, sorry to correct you, but Venus is the Roman God of Love and Beauty, Aphrodite is the Greek equivalent

  • venus IS the roman name for aphrodite

  • @camelsat1

Like Allah is the islamic name for Jehovah.

  • @L00NGB00W something like that...yea.

  • @Tobz3000 there was no roman god...just Greek God and as camelsat said venus is just another name (roman version) for aphrodite. Romans were believing in the 12 Gods of Olympus and thought that Caesar was also a God...

  • venus is a sufferer of greenhouse gas. earth (if the politicians are to be believed) is heading the same way. Could venus have once been like earth? a sort of mirror of us in millions of years? If it is, then i wont be here anyway when those millions of years creep up. so i might take my 4x4 out round town today!

  • I love venus, it's similar size to us and despite the deadly atmospere, it's awesome

:D (Uranus is still awesome, best planet eva!)

  • @tenossa: Think you might end up removing this comment in the very near future! :)

  • why?

  • nice

  • Aphrodite mighty Aphrodite will now instruct her beloved Hephaestus to smash you

  • @tenossa I think you mean Aphrodite is the Greek counterpart of Venus? Because anything besides that might sound a little... well it dosn't matter now does it? They're both the goddess of love. :)

  • @tenossa aphrodite is the greek goddess of love

  • @tenossa That is incorrect.

  • Venus shows us that we are qiute unique in the universe, and that we must take care of Earth before something bad really happens.

  • She is so hot

  • Cool beans

  • Venus is the Roman Goddess of love, Aphodite was the Greek Counterpart.

  • You are right on it but the name of the planet is Afroditi and the name is from Greeks who invented Astronomy.Venus is an unfotunet translation for Αφροδίτη. (Afroditi).

  • Actually...she is correct.. When the Romans took the reins from the Greeks, they inherited the Greek pantheon. Now, the Greek names were Aphrodite and Ares respectively, however they already had the names Venus and Mars for the deities governing beauty and war, so they applied their names to the Greek deities. This means that in fact, Venus was a Roman goddess, as the Greek goddess was Aphrodite, not Venus. As a secondary note, Greek has no letter v, so no Greek word 'Venus'.

    ΑΣΤΡΟΝΟΜΙΑ-ΑΣΤΡΟΦΥΣΙΚΗ ρε "ΑΣΤΡΟΠΕΛΕΚΙ";

    H μήπως χιλιάδες λέξεις από ιατρική, μαθηματικά και άλλες επιστήμες;

(Β)λάκα που δεν έχουμε και V...Και αυτό τι είναι; Vlaka?

  • I"m pretty sure the symbol for Mars is an erect penis, but if you want to keep telling yourself it's a spear/shield, go right ahead ;)

  • what the hell?

  • Your presenter should be on television, she makes the subject really interesting.

  • Her intellect makes her enormously hot.

  • I say love me you say sexy

    love me...

  • sounds like a future earth... I would not doubt if venus had life thousands of years ago.

  • There's no way carbon dioxide could get to those levels with life.

  • I said thousands of years ago, and you never know, it could be a lifeform based on different types of matter. Like, maybe lead-based life =).

  • Lead doesn't have the valency of carbon. Don't hold your breath waiting for lead based life.

  • what's valency might I ask? I'm wondering because I am actually writing a sci-fi book about lead-based life on venus.

  • Valency is is a measure of the empty electron shells in an atom, and a measure of the tendency of an electron to form interesting compounds.

  • oh, right, valence electrons... duh! But they do have the same number of valence electrons, the only may difference is lead cannot form bonds with metals.

  • You would be wrong.

  • lol, whatever. I think it's a theory and can work. =)

  • Well not with what we understand about life. The other element I could see to form life would be silicon, it is kinda similar to carbon.

  • true, but lead is in the same column as carbon, so it still has similar properties to carbon, other than that it is a metal.

  • Acid rain... extremely high levels of CO2.... Looks like a great place for all the climate alarmists to go and protest.

  • i wish they would :D

  • Climate alarmists! What does that even mean - we should be alarmed about climate change!

  • 400 years since Man's first 'true' gaze into space, eh? Very interesting. When exactly is that anniversary? I'll have to throw it a party like I did for Darwin, and pi day.

Keep up the work and topics of interest, my friends. Once again, I was greatly interested.

  • a day on venus is longer than a year and it revolves the opposite way round to all the other planets in our solar system

  • I wonder if the soil of Venus is as similar as the earth's crost, and what's the % of Nitrogen in its atmosphere.

  • I really enjoy this series, Brady!

You get to cover such a wide range of interesting topics, and have good presenters.

  • @BGenerous

    Thanks for watching and subscribing!

We really do read every comment (not just me.. most of the scientists too)...

Knowing that people are watching is what keeps us going, and we do listen to people's advice and feedback.

  • Don't you just hate the word "heaven" ?? i mean comon ,that's no word for an astronomer ,just stick with "space" ,please :P

  • back in Galileo's time the concept of "Space" didnt exist, so it is always refered to as "the heavens" when ancient astronomers observe space.

  • Doesn't the sulfuric acid evaporate before it hits the ground?

  • Sulfuric acid's boiling point is 337 °C and temperatures on Venus are around 460°C but the enormous pressure (~92 times the pressure of the Earth's atmosphere) might keep it from evaporating I guess.

  • The planet Venus, is literally Hell incarnate.
