(Capitol) always rushed them, which is why England got the real sound of The Beatles when America got the some songs that the beatles hadn't even finished recording, 'i want to hold your hand' was rushed but ended up sounding perfectly amazing lads they are
Now, I am confused ... on some mono remixes there's a snippet of backward guitar on 0.48 (running everywhere at such a speed ...) like on newly released Beatles in Mono ... how many different mono remixes are actually available?
On "I'm Only Sleeping", Harrison played the notes for the lead guitar (and for the second guitar in the solo) in reverse order, then reversed the tape and mixed it in. The backwards guitar sound has been said to "suspend the laws of time and motion to simulate the half-coherence of the state between wakefulness and sleep".[12] The backwards guitar is mixed a little differently on the American version, which is not included on the American Revolver but on The Beatles Yesterday and Today.
takes me to a special time and place...when i was just really discovering the Beatles for myself. I was raised on them, but then I started actually listening...... Nothing was the same after that!
The "beatless"(see if you can spot that one ;-) Im only sleeping in mono is by far more superb than that of the stereo version. Only due to George's mastery of the backwards guitar effects.
there are a total of 4 versions, mono Y&T stereo Y&T, mono Revolver (UK) & stereo Revovler (UK). all have backwards guitar in different sections. I made a version with alll four mixes. Took 2 hours but sounds great!!
This version is a different mix than the version released on the British Revolver. It was probably rushed to Capitol for inclusion on the Yesterday and Today compilation, along with Doctor Robert. I guess they hadn't finished with them yet, as Revolver wasn't released for another 4 months after Y & T. Both songs were subsequently removed from the American (Capitol) version of Revolver.
Put me on record as preferring the mono "Y&T" mix. Sometimes things are best left as they are . . . (think the U.S. 45 release of The Animals' "We Gotta Get Out of This Place").
any ways, i listen to breakfast with the beatles with chris carter every sunday morning on 95.5 KLOS and last week was the 42nd annaversary of REVOLVER. he played the whole album. when he played im only sleeping, it was different because it was very calm and had bells in it. i called in today to find out wat it was and he told me it was the "mono version" so thats wat i was expecting! i really loved it! i have not been able to find it since. PLEASE TELL ME!!
If you go to my site I have all foru versions mixed into one in stereo
