In Croatia many players are owned by shady businessmen who invest in them (pay for salaries, car, etc.). They have influence in the player's club and make sure he plays every game and takes all the free kick's and penalties. Some even have influence with the country manager (ie. Bilic) and arrange a few caps for their player. Kalanic is a good example of such a player. His agent has been trying to sell him for years. The truth is he is a crap player!(Most of his goals last season were penalties)
