  • Absolute classic Stones,,,

    @TheMegoCoolMego....4 assheads are who,,,

  • WOW!!!

  • Best Stones song.

  • If aliens land on earth and want to know what Rock `n Roll is, just play them this song.

  • I agree, this song was maybe to risky for radio, one of the best kept secrets of rock and roll songs ever!

  • who would dislike this song?!

  • Oh Exile, the final culimination of what really is the best of the Stones. This was right before Mick got his head completely shoved up in his ass and Keith's heroin addiction really swallowed him and they were able to produce this rugged yet purely refined multi-genre masterpiece. This song, which in my opinion is the best of the album, IS THE ROLLING STONES, and there's nothing more to it.

  • In spite of not being my favorite band, I do think they are the Best RocknRoll band ever and as far as Rock Off being the Rolling Stones' best songs arguably....I don't argue about it 'cause I believe it truly is the Rolling Stones' best songs EVER. Thanks for posting. Great pics!

  • it is just the absolute BEST piece of raunch & roll sleaze ever written, and no one, but NO ONE could pull this off like Mick and Keith -- the filth and soul they put into this WHOA!!! just fractures me every time. It's the best.

  • Yeah, this is a good song but my impression is that they did it as a piece of cake bettween two serious songs - like a little warm up. If a beginner band had launched it, it would never have been noticed. From their fingers and voices, I like it.

  • SURESHOT DC, Almost top marks brother for your erudite foreward to this all time classic Stones song. My one quibble: you neglected to mention Nicky Hopkins killer piano playing on it. It's the capper. I think he plays on about 12 songs on the album. This is where the bar was set. He was THE man.

Cheers, for the lyrics too by the way.

  • this is my fucking jam

  • I'm zipping through the days at lightning speed.

Plug in, flush out and fire the fuckin' feed.

  • My favorite Stones song :D

  • My grandfather lent me this cassette tape last summer, saying it was one of his favorite albums ever. At age 16, it changed my life.

  • that guy who thinks this song is a "turd" is no stones fan. he should probably put "sympathy for the devil" and "satisfaction" on a continuous loop and then go listen to some foghat or other classic rock radio crap. what a douche.

This is probably my favorite stones tune.

  • the radio has no taste for music if it did zero450 probably wouldn't like it

  • @zerro450 your a complete Rolling stones/ music illiterate. Your a turd and your music taste is mundane at best, now go turn the radio back on and listen to the same songs that have been playing for the last 40 years... EVERYONE IGNORE THIS FOOL HE ONLY THINKS HE KNOWS WHAT HE IS TALKING ABOUT.

  • Sad to say that I'm 47 and just now discovering Exile on Main Street. I have a # of Stones albums, CD's but more main stream stuff.

This CD and this song are un-freakin' believable. This song is one of their best and I agree with those that wonder why this didn't get more airplay.

Rip this Joint is another amazing tune...

  • @mpustka absolutely agree! Rocks Off, Rip This Joint, Casino Boogie, Tumbling Dice, Sweet Virginia, Happy, Turd On The Run, All Down The Line and Shine A Light are my favourite songs from EOMS! But I like all songs! ^^

  • How can anyone think that this turd of a 'Stone tune is one of their best? It's mundane at best, has no real hook, and main-stream radio ignored it with good reason... it's average at best.

  • @Zerro450 You're fucking brain dead and have no sense of music whatsoever.

  • OMG Best photos Thank you.

  • "plug in, flush out and fire the fuckin' feed". that's why they don't play this song.

  • @nankerphelge718 no, that's why they SHOULD play this song. nothing beats those horns. goosebumps every time...

  • greatest song ever. unchained is # 2.

  • Great pictures and song!!

  • the sunshine bores the daylights outta me..

  • A TRUE VINTAGE ROCK N ROLL MASTERPIECE

  • 3 Jonas Brothers fans disliked this video.

  • Headed for the overload, splattered on the dirty road...

kick me like you've never kicked before, I can't even feel the pain no more...

  • best song ever, most ignored by radio jocks

  • This is one of my favorite Stones songs ever! But it may have been ignored by the radio for the past 38 years because they drop the f-bomb in it...

    Censorship sucks...

  • Rocks off really is a fantastic song, one of the greatest by the Stones and is on Exile On Main Street, another masterpiece.

  • Lyrics at 1:35 are: "Plug in, flush out and fight, and fuck and feed"...

Not the ones that everyone is showing, i.e. "Plug in, flush out and fire the fuckin feed".......

  • what a taste .. .

  • Absolutely! "The sunshine bores the daylights out of me!" best line!

  • PLUG IN FLUSH OUT AND FIRE THE FUCKING FEED OWWWW

  • i like it !!!

  • I'm glad they're playing this on the radio now. it deserves to be there.

really starting to get into the Stones, thanks to this album!

  • Exile is such a good album... The easiest record to listen to, you always get something new out of it... Eternal gratitude lads!

  • agreed ...so many hidden Stones gems! Fingerprint File... Continental Drift .. Little T+A ... Can't you hear me Knocking ... The Lantern ... Coming Down Again ... Hand of Fate ... Monkey Man ... Going Home ... Turd on the Run .... they should never play Satisfaction on the radio ever again and spin these instead.

  • the photo at 0:17,,,was that taken during '68ish?

  • Amazing you can listen to a classic rock station for 10 hours straight and hear the same standards at least twice but never hear any less known cuts like this. Songs that were great but were released at the same time some other chart topper knocked them off the charts. Suits have no business programming radio. Leave it up to the damn announcers!

  • untouchable !!!

  • Though I'm a huge Stones fan { through 1973} I'd say in the history books they'll be a distant 2nd to the Beatles. According to Rolling Stone Mags 100 greatest albums of all time the Beatles have 4 albums in the top ten. {Sgt Pepper-Revolver-Rubber Soul-White Album} Sorry.

  • @kentucy9999 mate ,youre entitled to your opinion, but why dont you go back to your octopuses garden in your yellow submarine ,and climb the eifell tower with some stupid fucking walrus..meanwhile us Rolling Stones fans will be in our basement room getting our rocks off to the greatest band of all time

  • completely ignored by radio

but thats ok we know better

    rock n rollllllllllllllllllllllllllll

  • This and rip this joint best stones songs ever!

  • i think radio ignored this because of "fire the fuckin feed"

  • So many great Classic Rock songs get ignored by 'Classic Rock Radio!' This is a perfect example of an outstanding classic. Perhaps it's the fear of corporate rock radio that a song, which truly rocks and kicks the pants off of any two bit piece of mediocrity, would inject such an adrenaline rush in the populace that widespread pandemonium could ensue!

  • You are totally right.

  • just when everybody thought "brown sugar" was the coolest way to open an album...this bad boy shows up and gets peoples rocks off

  • & great pics, too, some of my faves & ones new to me. well done!

  • this is a real shot in the arm!

it only gets better each time i hear it.

  • the sunshine bores the daylights out of me :)

  • Great slide show. I remember where I was the first time put this LP on the turntable. Thanks for the post!!

  • any sexy ladies want to get MY rocks off??

  • you look like Mick Jagger in '72? cos i love Mick clones, esp. if they're in a Stones tribute band.

  • exile on main st begins and ends with two of the rolling stones best songs

  • Comment removed

  • to me the best rock n roll song

  • Best album opener on any album ever

you feel the whole albums vibe from this song

agree that its a very under rated like most songs on Exile on Main street, which is strange seen as its their greatest album.

  • @cheevers4ever 'you feel the whole albums vibe from this song' man truest words ever!!! this, like the album it opens, is just a brilliantly dirty, raw, musical entity! Seriously even just that opening riff is just a kick in the guts - I've always said it's one of, if not the, best Keith riffs. Beautifully raunchy and gritty and that intensity throughout, with all the elements building this kind of perfect mayhem is fucking beauty. THIS IS ROCK N ROLL.

  • Couldn't agree more. This song is so underrated in the Stones catalogue-- it's the perfect burned-out, coked-up, sun-baked boogie. This is what you sing the second before you collapse.

  • ' The sunshine bores the daylights

    out ☼f me' .... «•»_«•»

  • The Perfect Song

  • How can you listen to this song and now shake, wherever you are?

  • would have been nice to see a photo of Mick Taylor in there. He is playing the opening track and has such a distinct contribution to the song.....

  • great video

  • "i can't seem to stay in step , cause she comes ev'ry time that she pirouettes over me"

  • Awesome song. Definitely one of the most underrated Stones tunes of all time. Also has to be one of the sickest opening tracks to any album.

  • agreed mjk - raunchy, seedy lyrics just like we expect from the Stones, and "Soul Survivor" is the perfect song to bookend this tune on the best album in rock history - from start to finish, there is no better album than "Exile" - a solid document of the band at their zenith imo

  • hahaah the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (band)

  • GREAT !

  • this song and "soul survivor" serve as perfect bookends for the best rock n roll album in history - pound for pound "exile" cannot be beat

  • I remember at 1st listen to 'exile" i hated it.....now its a top 5 stones cd of all time

  • You are dead right, when ui first got into the stones i had peopel telling me listen to exile mate, listen to exiel and i didn knw wot to expect it is my favourite album it is kept in a safe along with my other treasured possesions

  • Think this song being "forgotten" was largely due to it saying fuck in it. Wasn't as easy to edit out a swear word years ago and was frowned upon to even have it beeped out on a mainstream radio station. Might be wrong like, but just my theory

    x

  • ....the sunshine bores the daylights outta me!!!!......gotta be one of the coolest lines in Rock- Roll history.......like Keef would say;.....".innit GREAT???"

  • Comment removed

  • are u kidding?? the rolling stones the greatest live band, the most popular and the most succesful and influential band EVER, photographed?? lol

  • favourite songe

    evur ayayay que emocion

  • esta poca madre esta cancion para levantar muertos stones por siempre

  • "Classic rock" radio ignored this, perhaps the Stones' greatest studio song, because the consultant dweebs who actually do all the programming really have no taste.

It is odd, though, since they tend to program any song by a famous band with the word "rock" in the lyrics, so limited are their imaginations.

Maybe they're just leery of songs about nocturnal ejaculation, schizophrenia, and ballet dancers who are partial to multiple orgasms. :-)

  • That's interesting. Where are u located? I'm in Indiana, and i hear this song frequently. 92.3 wtts 94.7 wfbq

  • @Jaynecullen LOLOL I was a radio announcer for 20 years and would play obscure stuff like this. I always got chewed on by some stuffy in a white dress shirt and tie but so what. I guess thats why I moved from station to station alot. LOL

  • @Jaynecullen My guess is that the song is never played on radio because it has the F-bomb in the third verse.

  • Comment removed

  • @Jaynecullen It's just as well. I don't want to hear this on classic rock radio. It's too good for that.

  • @Jaynecullen my band has covered this. it is without a doubt one of their greatest songs. sublime.

  • The problem was radio didnt know what to do with "exile on main street"

  • Never understood why "classic rock" stations insist on wearing out "You can't Always get what you want" and ignore this song..

  • rocks off!

  • This song definitely deserves more air time on the radio. Classic rock stations should devote more time to songs that don't get played any more.

  • Cus that be because the Stones themselves have largely ignored it ?

  • its because this song is considered "bitch rides again"

  • i love this song

  • Comment removed

  • theres a live 73 version floating around done in sydney. all the 73 live shows rocked tho.. anyway, this song sounds great live.

  • I don't know, man. I hear the lyric as:

"What´s the matter with the boy?"

"He don´t come around no more",

"Is he checkin' out for sure?"

"Is he gonna gonna close the door on me..."

Either/or, the Stones were at the absolute peak of their creativity during the early seventies. Fueled on copious amounts of heroin, coke and alcohol.

  • exile on main street is their best album, hands down. sticky fingers is probably second.

  • Nah- it goes like this: Let it Bleed, Sticky Fingers, Exile

  • true i forgot let it bleed

  • its all about torn and frayed baby!!

  • How good could one band be?

Stones - greatest rock band ever!!!!!!!!1

  • @JohnFPorcaro The only band that came close to them was the MC5.

  • The guy who posted this must have thought the Stones were a duo.

  • LOL .. I never noticed, but you're right, man.

  • i cant describe how much i love the intro when you hear the snare

  • Hey Keith,

    your left eye is abnorma....uhhh...ly

    large.

    Thanks forever,

    Paul

  • this song gets better as it goes along

  • you are so right

  • and so it begins.. the greatest opening track on the greatest album of all time..

  • One of my faves ever by them. Everything else on Exile (except Tumbling Dice), was, dare I say, somewhat of a letdown (was Happy on that, if so, I'll include that).

  • What??? A let down? Man, I disagree. Loving Cup is GREAT. Also, Sweet Virginia and Shine a Light. In fact, the one song on this album I can live without is Tumbling Dice. But this album is def my fav.

  • Sorry. I'm thinking of songs like Ventilator Blues. The songs you mentioned are great. I do like Tumbling Dice, though.

  • I choose Beggars Banquet or Let It Bleed as favorites. My REAL favorite is the bootleg "Get Your Leeds Lungs Out" from Leeds University in '71.

  • LOVING CUP!!!

  • That's funny. I rented this album at my local library a while ago, and I felt the same way. At first, I thought "what is so great about this album?" but then I started listening to it over and over again in my car, and I went from thinking it was mediocre to thinking it was pretty good. Now, several months later, all the songs are coming back to me, and I really want to either rent the album again or buy it. Exile is just one of those albums that slowly grow on you over time.

  • the sunshine bores the daylights out of me,the lyrics just get better and better, cool stuff.

  • your mouth dont move but i can hear u speak, good lyrics.

  • Great opener for "Exile".

  • and yur moms horrible in bed. fucking dumbass

  • i second that ....some cool shit.

  • Every time I hear this song I want to smoke something, drink something, fuck something and break something.

  • Best song they ever recorded

  • i love the horn section in this song.

only get my rocks off when i'm "dreaming"

only get my rocks off when i'm "sleeping"

  • it's about heroin

  • I think you're both right.

  • Wel, ur dad is a fucking dumbass

  • Keith have never had problems with drugs,he had only problems with various policeforces and othorities

  • youre right

keith didn't have a problem with drugs

drugs had a problem with keith!!!!!

i could totally see him taunting bag and having it recoil in horror! LOL :oP

  • this song gets me going

  • best song man

  • this song is under appreciated

  • Whats the matter with the boy?

He dont come around no more.

talking about the guy who sells him dope

  • Sanchez says it is about him, but it's unlikely.

  • this is one of my favorite stones songs. reminds me of hanging out with my friends in the summer

  • The sunshine bores the daylights out of me!

  • Rocks Off is THE best Stones song ever & what originally sold me on their music, Wild Horse's would have to be 2nd.

  • I was makin' love last night

To a dancer friend of mine

I can't seem to stay in step

'Cause she cums every time that she pirouettes o'er me

    ... I love that!! ...

  • "The sunshine bores the daylight out of me..." love it!

  • OMG! good photos eheh ;D

  • The best from the BEST

  • fucking awsome song

  • Bloody brilliant.

  • It is a great great song in a great great album

  • so phychedelic :D

  • I always hear this song being done by the bands on the late-night shows, and wondered what it was. Then the first time I heard Exile, I loved it. I just can't decide if the lyrics or the music is better.

  • THE SUNSHINE BORES THE DAYLIGHTS OUTTA ME!!!

    Best lyric ever.

  • DUDE! YES! BEST LYRIC EVER! SWEAR TO GOD!

the poster was right. this is the best stones song ever. seriously. no contest. only for the true stones fans.

  • Um, what about Sympathy or Satisfaction or, if I need to qualify, the unreleased "Travelin' Man" or "Jivin' Sister Fanny" or "Memo to Turner" from the movie Performance, which had Ry Cooder on slide (but wasn't really a Stone's song). I don't have a favorite. There are so many incredible ones, especially between '68-'72.

  • listen to think im going mad on here awesome tune

  • Best Stones song. One of the best rock n roll songs ever.

  • When they still could spawn dirty licks ...

  • fan vad rocks!!!

  • the greatest song...from understanedly the greaest album of all times, yet quite underrated.....freak

  • great song!

  • Rip this joint is coming after this song, or before?

The first line " I hear you talking when I am on the street, your mouth don't move....

Was a paranoid situation in our mind.

The whole day and night we talking in te sky with friends. We lived in the sky en walked over the town in the sky.

When we used the speed that was on te market that time.

Somebody called me after some years and I go a way whit Him.

  • Fantastic post! this song opens up Exile and sets the tone for the whole album. Their best album and this is the best song on it. From the drums, to the piano, to the steady guitar rythmn, it's the Stones at their best.

  • exelente!!!

  • one of greatest song of rock !
