damn, i've watched some sprints from sidney, athens and barcelona and realized that hoogenband was awful on start...look how much he falls behind at the beginning and also, his underwater swim is so short...if he didn't fall behind that much popov wouldn't stand a chance in that run..FACTS!

at this time van den hoogenband was the legend in the 100 and thorpe was the legend in the 200 and 400. but popov showed them both up and showed why he was the legend in sprint freestyle in the 90's!

It's a bit strange that Lezak was 4th when he was 27 years old and now that he is 32yo, he pulls out such a great swim in the olympics...

@RtRdOh33 he was european champion in 2004 , 2 months before the olimpic games but in august he was problems in his left leg so he could not swim like he used to swim.

no maestro. Fue apuñalado en Rusia en 1996 un mes despues de ganar la medalla dorada en Atlanta 96 en 50mts y 100mts. Es increible que haya logrado lo que hizo despues. Pero que tiempos y medallas hubiera ganado si nunca hubiera sido apuñalado?
